Chapter 10: The Day

AURORA

Tomorrow my fate would be decided. I sat in the corner of my cell, trying to figure everything out. If those pictures meant Bryan was alive, how long was he going to hide? I was sure it was him in that picture, but the court didn’t validate it. The Wolfe family claimed they were responsible for the transactions , that wasn’t what shocked me.

“I am his next of kin.”

This was what blew me away.

When Bryan’s mother said those words, I was stunned. Bryan and I had argued about it a few months before his supposed death. I wasn’t happy that his mother was his next of kin for his bank and finances instead of his son. But according to him, “I was worrying about the little things.”

It turned out his mother was the one initiating those transactions. Bottom line: we didn’t have enough evidence that he was alive, but there was also no evidence that I killed him.
