Jax did not come back for supper.

The food stayed warm on the stove. Lily-Rose set three plates anyway. Jimmy sat at the table and watched the back door. The light outside turned soft and low. No boots on the gravel. No sound from the barn.

Lily-Rose sat across from him.

“He’s still out there.”

“I know.”

“You told him to keep distance. He’s doing it.”

Jimmy’s fork stayed still on the plate.

“There’s keeping distance and there’s staying gone.”

She pushed food around her plate.

“Maybe he needs th

Three cups sat on the table.Jimmy put them there. He did not ask. Steam rose from the coffee. Lily-Rose sat down. Jax came in from outside. Dirt was still on his boots. He stopped when he saw the three cups.Jimmy pointed at the empty chair.“Sit.”Jax sat. He did not touch the coffee. The room stayed still. A bird called once outside and stopped. The house felt small with all three of them there.Jimmy spoke first.“Yesterday you stayed gone until night. No word. No check-in. Just distance.”Jax kept his eyes on the table.“You told me to keep space. I kept it.”“There’s space and there’s disappearing. You stretched it.”Lily-Rose held her cup.“Jimmy”“Let him answer.”Jax looked up.“I was working the south line. Then the east posts. I needed the work. Same as you.”“You needed the work or you needed to stay away from this table?”“Both.”The word hit hard. Lily-Rose’s fingers got tight on the cup.Jimmy leaned forward.“I drew a clear line after Kara. No private contact. No soft

You came at him hard yesterday.”“I came at him clear.”“Clear and hard are the same thing to him right now.”Jimmy looked at her. The muscle in his jaw moved once.“You’re taking his side.”“I’m taking the side that keeps this house from splitting.”The words hung between them. Outside the window the sky kept fading. Still no sound from the barn.Jimmy stood up. He took his plate to the sink and left it there. He walked to the back door, opened it, and stood on the step. The air was co

The sun was already up when Jimmy stepped into the kitchen.Coffee sat cold in the pot. He poured it anyway and drank it black at the sink. His shoulders were still high from the day before. The hard line at the fence had not left his body. His hands felt restless. He flexed them once against the counter and let them drop.Outside, boots moved across the gravel. Jax was already heading toward the barn. He did not come into the house. He did not look toward the windows.Jimmy watched him through the glass until the barn door shut.Lily-Rose came in a few minutes later. Hair messy. One of his shirts hanging on her. She looked at his face and stopped.“You’re already watching.”“Yeah.”“He’s been out there a while.”“I saw.”She walked closer and poured what was left of the coffee. The pot scraped against the counter.“You’re watching him like he’s going to leave.”Jimmy kept his eyes on the window.“I’m watching everything. That’s how this stays solid.”Lily-Rose’s voice dropped.“You’r

Jax came back from the south fence late in the afternoon. He washed his hands at the outside tap. Dirt and sweat ran off in dark streams. He dried them on his jeans and stepped into the kitchen.Jimmy stood at the counter. Lily-Rose was cutting vegetables. The knife stopped when the door opened. No one spoke.Jax nodded once.“Fence is good. No breaks.”Jimmy kept his eyes on him.“Alright.”That was all.Jax poured a glass of water and drank it slow. He set the glass down and went to the spare room. The door shut soft behind him.Jimmy watched the empty hallway. His hand rested flat on the counter. Fingers pressed hard against the wood.Lily-Rose set the knife down.“You two are worse than this morning.”“Yeah.”“He’s not talking.”“I know.”“You’re not talking much either.”Jimmy turned his head toward her.“I said what I needed to say at the fence. He heard me.”Lily-Rose wiped her hands on a towel.“The air in this house feels heavy.”“It is heavy.”She stepped closer.“Are you st

  • My Husband Shared Me:A New Year's Filthy Threesome    Hard Line

The sun was high when Jimmy walked out to the south fence.Jax was already there working the wire. Sweat showed on the back of his shirt. The pliers clicked each time he pulled the line tight. He did not look up when Jimmy’s boots hit the gravel.Jimmy stopped a few feet away. Dust rose around his feet.“Any trouble on the line?”“No.”Jimmy watched him work for a long second. The sun pressed hard on the back of his neck.“You talk to her last night?”Jax’s hands stopped. The pliers hung loose.“Who?”“Kara.”“No.”Jimmy stepped closer.“You sure?”Jax looked at him. His eyes stayed flat.“I said no.”Jimmy’s voice stayed low and hard.“I’m asking again. She came on my land. She talked about my wife. She looked at you like she still had a claim. So I’m asking one more time. Any contact since then?”“None.”Jimmy’s jaw got tight. A muscle jumped in his cheek.“Good. If she reaches out, you don’t answer. You don’t delete it. You bring it to me right away. Clear?”“Clear.”“Say it.”“I b

  • My Husband Shared Me:A New Year's Filthy Threesome    Leftover Heat

Jimmy locked the bedroom door.Lily-Rose stood by the bed still wearing the clothes from the gate. Dust clung to the bottoms of her jeans. His shirt stuck to his back where the sweat had dried. He didn’t turn on the light. He walked to her, took her face in both hands, and kissed her hard. The kiss carried everything left from the confrontation the cold metal of the rail, the grit in his throat, the short sound of Kara’s laugh. Lily-Rose kissed him back the same way. Her hands pulled at his shirt. They undressed without talking. Clothes dropped to the floor. Jimmy pushed her onto the bed and followed. His mouth moved over her neck and the skin between her breasts. She arched under him.He touched her between her legs. She was already wet. He stroked her until her breathing turned short, then pushed inside her in one deep thrust.Lily-Rose’s hands locked on his shoulders.“Jimmy—”“I know.” He moved steady and hard. “I’m right here.”Every thrust pushed the leftover fight out of his a
