Harvey's Pov

“What do you mean?” I managed to stammer, my hands gripping the edge of the desk so tightly my knuckles turned white. “The problem is from me? No... no, that can’t be right.”

It can't be. Before I got married, I had done a lot of health tests as it was also required by Derek's parents. I've always been careful; I took supplements that my mother in law gave me, and I exercised regularly. I had never had any issues, nor had I ever been told that something was wrong with my body. How could this be happening now? How could the problem have been from me all along?

“Doctor, are you sure there hasn’t been a mistake?” I pleaded, my voice rising in pitch as panic took over. I leaned forward, my heart hammering against my ribs. “Maybe you mixed up the charts? Perhaps you gave me someone else’s results? Please, check again.”

The doctor did not look sympathetic. He gave an impatient sigh and picked up the paper card from his desk, turning it around and sliding it across to me.

“There is no mistake, Mrs. Harvey,” he said coldly, his finger tapping the top of the paper.

I looked down. My name, Harvey Fox, was printed in clear, dark letters right at the top. There was no denying it. It was my card.

“But how?” I whispered, a tear finally escaping my eye and splashing onto the paper. “How did this happen?”

“It could be due to your health,” the doctor explained, his voice entirely flat, as if he were reading a weather report. “After all, you have been sick for a very long time. Your body is simply too weak, and your system has shut down. You are infertile.”

I sat there, utterly numb. Infertile. The word repeated in my head over and over again, each time sounding louder and more terrifying. All these years... all the tears I had cried in secret, all the cruel, mocking comments from Derek’s mother and sisters at the dinner table, all the guilt I had carried... it was actually my fault?

I looked up at the doctor, hoping to see some shred of pity or reassurance, but his face was like stone. He didn’t say anything to comfort me. Instead, he tapped his pen against his desk and checked his watch.

“Look, Mrs. Harvey,” he said, his tone dripping with annoyance. “My next patient is already waiting outside. I have a very busy schedule. If you want to cry or do anything of the sort, please leave the office and do it outside.”

His utter lack of empathy was like a slap to my face. I couldn't even find the words to respond. Trembling, I stood up from the chair. My legs felt like jelly as I grabbed the test results with numb fingers, folded them messily, and stuffed it into my bag as I stumbled out of the office.

The hallway of the hospital was bright and busy, but to me, everything looked gray. I walked slowly, barely seeing the people passing by. But then, my eyes locked onto two figures standing near the reception desk down the hall.

It was Derek. And right next to him, laughing softly, was Olivia, his coworker.

I froze, my breath catching in my throat. Derek’s arm was wrapped securely around Olivia’s shoulders, pulling her close against his side. He was looking down at her, and on his face was a smile, a warm, tender, incredibly happy smile.

I felt as if my heart had been pierced by an icicle. Derek hadn’t smiled at me like that in years. In fact, almost immediately after we got married, his behavior had changed. The sweet, attentive man who used to bring me flowers and hold my hand had vanished. He became cold, distant, and easily irritated.

For three years, I had believed him when he said it was just because of the stress of his new position at work. I kept making excuses for him. I told myself that he still loved me deep down, and that if I was just patient enough and supportive enough, the old Derek would come back.

But seeing him now... it turned out Derek could still smile like that. He just didn't want to smile at me. My grip on my purse tightened. A sudden wave of anger and hurt rushed through my veins. I wanted to march over there and confront him, to demand to know why Olivia was clinging to him like a wife.

But before I could take a step, I overheard two nurses standing nearby. One of them pointed toward Derek and Olivia, a wistful look on her face.

“Look at them,” she whispered to her colleague. “They are such an enviable couple. The wife is one month pregnant, and the husband is so sweet. He always comes with her for her checkups. He hasn’t missed a single appointment for the past month.”

“Yeah. If you saw how happy he was the day his wife's test results were brought out, you would think someone plucked a planet and handed it to him on a silver platter. He was so happy that he promised to buy her a car immediately. I was so jealous.”

The words felt like a bucket of ice water poured over my head. I instantly froze. One month? Olivia was one month pregnant and the child was his?

Harvey's Pov “Please leave,” I said, pointing toward the door while trying not to laugh. The girls burst into laughter, but they eventually began moving toward the exit, throwing me teasing looks over their shoulders as they went. Amanda was the last one out, and she paused long enough to give Earl an exaggerated wink before closing the door behind her. The moment we were alone, I let out a long breath and turned back toward the mirror, pretending I wasn't still embarrassed by everything they had said. Earl came closer without saying anything, and I could see his reflection approaching mine until he was standing directly behind me. His hands settled lightly at my waist, careful not to wrinkle the dress, and when I met his eyes in the mirror, the amusement in them made me want to hide all over again.“You really are beautiful tonight,” he murmured, leaning closer until his lips were near my ear. “I know you've spent the last two weeks worrying about every detail and probably haven't

Harvey's Pov Today was D-Day. For the past two weeks, the upcoming runway project had consumed every waking hour of my life, and there had barely been a moment when I could sit down without somebody calling my name, asking for an opinion, requesting an adjustment, or telling me that something had gone wrong somewhere. Earl had been just as busy, sometimes worse, because there were meetings he had to attend, sponsors to deal with, last-minute arrangements to approve, and a hundred other things that had nothing to do with fashion but somehow still landed on his desk. Amanda and the other girls had practically lived at the venue during rehearsals, fittings, and preparations, while the designers, makeup artists, stylists, stage crew, and security teams had worked until exhaustion became normal. There had been nights when I returned home so late that I barely remembered taking off my shoes before falling into bed, and there had been mornings when I woke up wondering why I had ever

Gigi's Pov “Well, unfortunately for you, I can and I will.” I stared at him, trying to figure out where this was going, because there was absolutely no way this was going to end well for me. “You can't do this!” I asked, forcing myself to remain calm even though my instincts were screaming at me to run. “I applied for this position, and from what I understand, I'm qualified for it, so I don't see why you'd need to move me somewhere else.” I paused when he said nothing, then added, “Unless this is some kind of punishment, because if it is, I think that's a little petty considering the fact that I only misunderstood the situation.” A quiet chuckle escaped him. “Petty?” “Yes,” I said, then immediately wished I could grab the word and shove it back into my mouth, but no! My mouth just had to keep on running. “I mean, not that you're petty. I'm sure you're a very reasonable person. I just mean that it would be a little unnecessary to punish someone over a misunderstanding, especiall

Gigi's Pov “It's you?!” Goldie's hazel coloured eyes were wide with shock as he stood up from his chair immediately, pointing a slender finger at me. “How… How are you here?!” I asked, shifting back like two steps, “Did you follow me here? But that's not possible, if you're not working here, there's no way the security will let you stay in this office and sit down on the boss’s seat.” I fired quickly, my mouth running like tap water. Goldie crossed his arms, the corner of his lips pulling into a smirk. He straightened his back and chuckled, the voice carrying itself into my ear and for a moment, I stilled. “You were acting smart back then, you didn't know that we'd meet again, did you?” He walked away from where he sat and started coming towards me. “W… Where are you coming to? S… Stay back!” I stammered, shifting again. However, if I went back a few steps, he did the same, cornering me until he trapped me between the walls and his body. “In case your tiny little brain has

Gigi's Pov “Gigi! Wake up! You are going to be so insanely late on your very first day!” Harvey’s frantic voice pierced through the foggy layers of my sleep like an alarm siren. My eyes snapped open, my heart instantly leaping straight into my throat as I blindly reached for my phone on the nightstand. 8:01 AM. "OH, SHIT!" I shrieked, throwing the plush duvet off my body with such violent force it flew straight off the bed. My orientation was at 9:00 AM across town, and traffic in the city during morning rush hour was a literal nightmare! If Harvey hadn't come into my room to check on me before leaving for her own early morning fitting at Atelier Haus, I would have slept right through my entire future! What followed was twenty minutes of chaotic panic. I brushed my teeth at warp speed, slapped on a emergency layer of makeup, frantically shoved my notebook, tablet, and purse into my tote bag, and threw on a sleek burgundy pant suit that was supposed to make me look like a capable,

Harvey's Pov My jaw dropped, my hands flying up to cover my mouth. "Wait... what?!" I gasped out, my voice squeaking. "Gigi, are you serious?! You actually got a job?!" "Yes! I got a job!" Gigi squealed, her face lighting up with a brilliance that rivaled the brightest sun. She squeezed my hands so tightly her knuckles turned white, bouncing on the balls of her feet like a toddler. "Oh my gosh, Gigi!" I threw my arms around her neck, pulling her into a fierce hug. The lingering coldness from her damp hair didn't bother me in the slightest. I squeezed her until my arms throbbed, a tear of overwhelming relief slipping past my lashes. When we finally pulled back, Gigi wiped a tiny tear from the corner of her eye, though her massive, radiant grin never faded for a second. "I signed the offer letter right before I came to meet you at the park! It's a senior administrative position at a top creative logistics agency. The pay is ridiculously good, Harvey! Which means..."
