MasukHarvey's Pov
My mind raced. One month ago was exactly when Derek had suddenly suggested we have an open marriage. It was also exactly when he started giving endless excuses about why he was too busy to ever come to the hospital with me. He hadn't been too busy at all. He had been coming to this very hospital, week after week, holding another woman's hand. “I know, right?” the other nurse chimed in, giggling. “You can tell he really loves her. He looks so proud.” Down the hallway, Olivia said something that made Derek chuckle. He leaned down and tenderly kissed her on the cheek. At that moment, Gigi’s voice screamed in my head. “If it's not because he wants to fool around with Olivia, why would he want an open marriage? Can't you see how close they are?! Open your eyes and look at what's right in front of you, don't be stupid.” She had been right. She had been right all along, and I had defended him. I had insulted my best friend to defend a monster. Thinking about this, anger took over. The numbness I felt earlier from the results I was given in the doctor's office evaporated and it was replaced by anger that I had never felt before. I marched down the hallway, my sandals clicking loudly against the tile, straight toward them. “Derek!” I screamed, my voice cracking with raw emotion. “What the hell are you doing with Olivia?!” Derek and Olivia were both startled, turning to look at me. When Derek realized who it was standing in front of him, his expression instantly shifted from warm and happy to complete disgust. “Harvey?” he scowled, his eyes narrowing. “What are you doing here?” “What is this, Derek?” I sobbed, tears finally streaming down my face as I pointed a shaking finger at Olivia. “Why are you holding her like that? Why are the nurses saying she’s your pregnant wife? Explain it to me!” I reached out, trying to grab his arm, wanting him to look at me, wanting him to tell me it was all a sick joke. But before my fingers could even touch his sleeve, Derek sneered and shoved me away. He pushed me with so much force that I lost my balance. My heels slipped, and I stumbled backward, hitting the floor hard. My purse flew out of my hands, its contents spilling everywhere across the polished floor. My keys, my lipstick, and my medical files scattered. “Stay away from me, Harvey!” Derek hissed, looking down at me as if I were a piece of trash he had stepped on. “Don’t touch me!” Olivia gasped, hiding behind his shoulder, pretending to be terrified. “Oh my gosh, Derek... she’s crazy. What is she doing here? I thought you said we were coming here together. Did she stalk us and follow us here?” “She must have.” Derek answered, derision filling his tone. He walked towards me and leaned downwards, “I told you to stay obediently at home,” he whispered, voice rough, “Why didn't you listen to me?” “I…” I stammered, my body shaking. I saw his eyes sweep over me, then to the things that had fallen on the floor. But suddenly, his pupils stopped, then his brows raised. A habit he had whenever he was curious about something. I immediately followed his gaze and he was staring right at the results the doctor gave me. But before I could grab it, Derek bent down and snatched the paper out of my reach. I immediately paled, my hands reaching out to grab the paper but he slapped my hands away and quickly scanned the page. Afterwards, a laugh escaped his lips. “Well, well, well,” Derek raised his voice, making sure everyone in the busy corridor could hear him. He held the paper up for the gathering crowd of patients and nurses to see. “Look at this! Infertile! You really can’t have children, can you, Harvey? All these years, I was wondering why you weren't able to give birth, so this was the reason!” “Derek, please, stop...” I begged, my voice cracking as I tried to scramble up to grab the paper, “Stop trying to turn this over to me. You're the one who brought another woman and impregnated her! You told me she was just your coworker!” “So you want me to continue being with you even if you don't have the ability to give me a child? Dream on!” Derek yelled. "Is that why you went ahead to impregnate your coworker? Stop trying to turn things around, Derek! I'm your wife! We were supposed to take care of things together, but you cheated on me! It's your fault! I trusted you." The onlookers started to murmur, their gazes on us but I could tell that they were pitying me. Not being able to have a child was already done, but before I knew about it he had already gone over to another woman? No matter how you look at it, he's to blame! “I… I'm sorry, Harvey. But… But I knew that Derek wanted a child and that's why… That's why we decided to try.” Olivia who had been quiet for the longest time stepped out from behind Derek, tears filling her eyes. But I couldn't help the scoff that escaped my mouth, “Is that how you're explaining it? You're trying to justify cheating on me? You're a woman as well, Olivia. How could you do this to me?” “If you want to blame anyone, blame me. I was the one who seduced him! It's all my fault!” Olivia yelled, tears now dripping down her cheeks, “You can even hit me till you're satisfied. I… I can kneel to apologise. I…” Olivia took another step towards me, one knee already going towards the ground but Derek instantly caught her and dragged her back. “You're not kneeling for anyone, Olivia. You're pregnant with my child.” “But…” “Olivia. Aren't you done making trouble? Don't cause a scene here, we're in front of a lot of people.” Derek said, his gaze cold. “You gave me a child when I needed it the most, you did what this woman can't do.” “Derek, you're my husband! We can adopt a child, we can check other options!” “Other options? How long do you want me to wait, Harvey? How long?!” “Harvey, you can't ask Derek to do this for you. I didn't want to say this…" Olivia gulped, her head lowered for a second, but she then raised her head back up in determination, "But if you hadn't aborted so many children before you married Derek, then you wouldn't have been infertile.” "Abort?" "Did she just say Harvey aborted so many children in the past?" "No wonder she can't get pregnant." My eyes widened in shock, "What the hell are you talking about?!"Harvey's Pov “Please leave,” I said, pointing toward the door while trying not to laugh. The girls burst into laughter, but they eventually began moving toward the exit, throwing me teasing looks over their shoulders as they went. Amanda was the last one out, and she paused long enough to give Earl an exaggerated wink before closing the door behind her. The moment we were alone, I let out a long breath and turned back toward the mirror, pretending I wasn't still embarrassed by everything they had said. Earl came closer without saying anything, and I could see his reflection approaching mine until he was standing directly behind me. His hands settled lightly at my waist, careful not to wrinkle the dress, and when I met his eyes in the mirror, the amusement in them made me want to hide all over again.“You really are beautiful tonight,” he murmured, leaning closer until his lips were near my ear. “I know you've spent the last two weeks worrying about every detail and probably haven't
Harvey's Pov Today was D-Day. For the past two weeks, the upcoming runway project had consumed every waking hour of my life, and there had barely been a moment when I could sit down without somebody calling my name, asking for an opinion, requesting an adjustment, or telling me that something had gone wrong somewhere. Earl had been just as busy, sometimes worse, because there were meetings he had to attend, sponsors to deal with, last-minute arrangements to approve, and a hundred other things that had nothing to do with fashion but somehow still landed on his desk. Amanda and the other girls had practically lived at the venue during rehearsals, fittings, and preparations, while the designers, makeup artists, stylists, stage crew, and security teams had worked until exhaustion became normal. There had been nights when I returned home so late that I barely remembered taking off my shoes before falling into bed, and there had been mornings when I woke up wondering why I had ever
Gigi's Pov “Well, unfortunately for you, I can and I will.” I stared at him, trying to figure out where this was going, because there was absolutely no way this was going to end well for me. “You can't do this!” I asked, forcing myself to remain calm even though my instincts were screaming at me to run. “I applied for this position, and from what I understand, I'm qualified for it, so I don't see why you'd need to move me somewhere else.” I paused when he said nothing, then added, “Unless this is some kind of punishment, because if it is, I think that's a little petty considering the fact that I only misunderstood the situation.” A quiet chuckle escaped him. “Petty?” “Yes,” I said, then immediately wished I could grab the word and shove it back into my mouth, but no! My mouth just had to keep on running. “I mean, not that you're petty. I'm sure you're a very reasonable person. I just mean that it would be a little unnecessary to punish someone over a misunderstanding, especiall
Gigi's Pov “It's you?!” Goldie's hazel coloured eyes were wide with shock as he stood up from his chair immediately, pointing a slender finger at me. “How… How are you here?!” I asked, shifting back like two steps, “Did you follow me here? But that's not possible, if you're not working here, there's no way the security will let you stay in this office and sit down on the boss’s seat.” I fired quickly, my mouth running like tap water. Goldie crossed his arms, the corner of his lips pulling into a smirk. He straightened his back and chuckled, the voice carrying itself into my ear and for a moment, I stilled. “You were acting smart back then, you didn't know that we'd meet again, did you?” He walked away from where he sat and started coming towards me. “W… Where are you coming to? S… Stay back!” I stammered, shifting again. However, if I went back a few steps, he did the same, cornering me until he trapped me between the walls and his body. “In case your tiny little brain has
Gigi's Pov “Gigi! Wake up! You are going to be so insanely late on your very first day!” Harvey’s frantic voice pierced through the foggy layers of my sleep like an alarm siren. My eyes snapped open, my heart instantly leaping straight into my throat as I blindly reached for my phone on the nightstand. 8:01 AM. "OH, SHIT!" I shrieked, throwing the plush duvet off my body with such violent force it flew straight off the bed. My orientation was at 9:00 AM across town, and traffic in the city during morning rush hour was a literal nightmare! If Harvey hadn't come into my room to check on me before leaving for her own early morning fitting at Atelier Haus, I would have slept right through my entire future! What followed was twenty minutes of chaotic panic. I brushed my teeth at warp speed, slapped on a emergency layer of makeup, frantically shoved my notebook, tablet, and purse into my tote bag, and threw on a sleek burgundy pant suit that was supposed to make me look like a capable,
Harvey's Pov My jaw dropped, my hands flying up to cover my mouth. "Wait... what?!" I gasped out, my voice squeaking. "Gigi, are you serious?! You actually got a job?!" "Yes! I got a job!" Gigi squealed, her face lighting up with a brilliance that rivaled the brightest sun. She squeezed my hands so tightly her knuckles turned white, bouncing on the balls of her feet like a toddler. "Oh my gosh, Gigi!" I threw my arms around her neck, pulling her into a fierce hug. The lingering coldness from her damp hair didn't bother me in the slightest. I squeezed her until my arms throbbed, a tear of overwhelming relief slipping past my lashes. When we finally pulled back, Gigi wiped a tiny tear from the corner of her eye, though her massive, radiant grin never faded for a second. "I signed the offer letter right before I came to meet you at the park! It's a senior administrative position at a top creative logistics agency. The pay is ridiculously good, Harvey! Which means..." She nudged my
