Blonde and Blue Eyed

Blondes with blue eyes are the definition of stupid.

Well... It has not been proved untrue since most blonde and blue eyed babes really do the stupidest things sometimes.

I had been terribly dumb to not have seen through his schemes at the time, they had been as clear as a cool glass of water, but I had selectively chosen to ignore what was dangling right in front of my eyes.

It's our normal routine. I wake up in the morning, make his breakfast, runs his bath and while he has his own breakfast, I go back to take my bath but that day, something had felt different.

Because he had woke me up in the middle of the night and whispered something to me that made me gasp audibly, turning to face him as though something was wrong.

"WHAT?!" I had yelled, sitting upright. I am a very light sleeper, so if his intention had been to just whisper it and get away with it, it did not happen. "What did you just say Daniel?"

He looked at me and sat up in bed too. "You heard me Raees. I want, no, I need you to seduce someone for me. It’s a matter of life and death."

It had to have been a prank, because I just laughed at the time.

Mirthless, confused laughter.

"What's so funny though?" He had inquired, his eyes searching mine in the dim nightlight.

I stopped laughing almost immediately. "Daniel, you did this some months ago. You asked us to have an open marriage, I refused but you went ahead to do as you liked. I forgave you because you did not cross any major lines..."

"But..."

I raised my hand and shook my head. "I'm still talking here. Then, you said since we couldn't see other people, we should have a threesome. An extra lady in our midst for just a few nights. I didn't agree to that either, because it made me feel like I wasn’t enough for you. And now what? Seduce a man for you? Do you even hear yourself? First I wasn’t enough, now you are willing to share me with another man?"

"I know demeaning how it sounds Raees. Look, I am working towards a trillion dollar deal here and I can't afford to lose it, it’s our way out of here. That's where you come in... You just need to seduce the man for me, just get him distracted and that's all. You don't need to sleep or do anything like that with him, just make him lose his mind over you for the night, that's all."

I hissed loudly, completely choosing to not see the ‘sense’ in the arrangement. "No, and that's final. I'm going back to bed. Don’t bring this up again, I won’t be using my body to secure a deal for you, I am your wife, treat me like I really am."

I had laid back down, mildly frustrated, and he hadn't said anything to me either.

Now, the bed beside me is empty and his suitcase is gone. He left for work without having breakfast or packing lunch, which is very unlike my Daniel.

How could he ask me to seduce a man? I am his wife for heaven's sake, no sane man or at least, one who loves his wife would request that of her.

Trying to get the thoughts of it out of my head, I rose up to do some chores around the house but how long could I keep myself occupied for? I decided to make his lunch and take it to his workplace so he'll have something to eat or something. Maybe I can persuade him out of it.

I make him a medium large bento box with tacos, Mac and cheese, snacks and fruits. I leave for his workplace about two hours after, driving down to his company myself.

Even though the company is not large scale, it's pretty comfortable because it feeds us quite well, and even if we decide to have five children, we'll be able to tend to them comfortably till they make their own ways in life, and being comfortable is enough for me.

Lavish lifestyles lead to so much trouble...

But on the other hand, being just okay is not okay for my husband.

Sighing, I get into the elevator that takes me to the third floor where his office is. As soon as the door opens, I notice the absence of his secretary in her seat. I brush it off and walk over to the door, pulling down the handle and opening the door. I walked into an unexpected situation...

Daniel is right there at his desk, his secretary dropping some files while he speaks to some visitors in what is an apparent meeting.

Every head snaps my way and my eyes widen softly.

"I'm so sorry to interrupt. I'll let myself out."

"Oh no, Raees, please come on in. Let me introduce you to Mr. Cook and his officials."

Well, I can't turn back now. I open the door fully and step inside, closing it behind me.

"Please, meet my wife." Daniel introduces as he comes to stand by my side, his messy hair falling down to his face as he quickly uses his hand to swipe it back into place, one of those little cute things I loved about him. His unruly hair, the way he always swipes it right back—

"Nice to meet you. I am Raees, Daniel’s wife."

The supposed Mr. Cook stands up and takes my hand in an elegant handshake before kissing the back of my palms, earning a small eyebrow raise from me.

"She is very supportive of what I do, and is always willing to help. Because of this meeting, I couldn't sleep all night and rushed out of home this morning so I can have my things in order before your arrival. See here? She even brought me lunch with her entirely busy schedule." Daniel flatters, pecking my forehead.

"You are a very lucky man. To find such a woman is rare these days." Mr. Cook comments, smiling my way.

"You don't need to say it twice. Raees, please give me a minute. We are almost done here."

"Of course not. She can have a seat while we finish up, she is welcome here. I can't possibly ask you to chase your wife out, that will be mighty rude of me."

"If you insist then." He motions me to the empty couch which I take wordlessly. As the minutes wear on, I can't help but listen and kind of understand what they are talking about.

The meeting is about the trillion dollar deal that he had mentioned in the midnight, the same one that made him—

"We can't let him have it. He already has everything he could possibly need. I want this deal and I must get it, once I do, I will fulfill my part of the contract so well they will question his integrity..." Daniel stresses, trying to pass a point to Cook and his other officials.

The deal seems to mean a lot to him, seeing as his hair keeps falling and he'll return it in place with the same flair as he's using to argue.

I tear my eyes away from his face and turn to my phone.

I can't give in to such an absurd request.

"Thank you very much for coming here and listening to my ramblings. I hope to hear from your boss."

"Sure Mr. Flanagan. Mrs. Flanagan, it is once again delightful to make your acquaintance. Who knows, your husband might get this deal because of your beauty?" He winks before he leaves with his entourage.

Did he…?

Daniel collapses into his chair before speaking. "I don't need your fake lunch. If you can't do something as small as help your husband secure a deal, then I don't understand if you have any ounce of love for me. You restrict my movement, I can’t have an iota of fun, and here you are, pretending to be the loving, caring wife."

I said it at the start that being blonde and blue eyed is the worst combination, something about it makes us stupid.

That was when I said, and now, regretfully...

"Fine. I'll help you out. A trillion dollars is a lot of money and I know it means a lot to you. So I'll seduce whoever it is for you, just have your lunch."

The office is dim now, most of the staffs have gone home, and the lunchtime passed ages ago, the blinds up there are half drawn, golden light spilling in faint streaks across the floor, into the office especially as it's facing the setting sun.The chaos of earlier feels like it belongs to another life, like it happened ages ago, with the way they are both so calm and moving like nothing happened, save for the bandage on Reid's hands. The shattered glass has been swept up, the security team dismissed. For the first time in what feels like days, there’s silence.Raees sits at her desk, a file open before her that she hasn’t turned a page of in twenty minutes. Reid’s sitting on the couch nearby, his hand freshly bandaged, his jacket draped carelessly over the armrest. The tension between them, that dense, unspoken weight that’s been there for weeks, finally feels lighter now that they've made up...Well, mostly. Almost fragile too, like it might break if either of them raises their voi

The sun dips low outside, slanting through the half-drawn blinds of the safehouse, painting long golden stripes across the walls. The air smells faintly of something unfamiliar in these regions...Something as simple and stupid as food. Not the canned, stale crap they’ve been surviving on. Real food. Something warm, something alive and worth eating for the first time in a long time.Cecelia looks up from the paperback in her hand, blinking like she’s just realized she’s been pretending to read for the last fifteen minutes. Her focus shifts to the source of the sound, faint clattering, the dull scrape of metal against metal, a low grunt. She tilts her head, and her lips curve up.It’s Abel. And he’s cooking.“Unbelievable,” she mutters under her breath, setting her book aside, peeping at him from under the comforter blanket. She pads barefoot down the short hall, her curiosity piqued. The kitchen light spills out softly into the corridor, golden and warm. Abel’s standing at the coun

The building is quieter now.The chaos that had erupted barely half an hour ago has been smoothed over by a crew of cleaners moving fast, sweeping up what’s left of shattered glass and scattered whispers. The lobby smells faintly of lemon polish and dust. The crowd that had gathered, employees, reporters, curious onlookers, has already been, very politely ushered out, though the silence they leave behind feels uneasy, like everyone’s just pretending not to have heard the sound of breaking glass echoing through the marble.Reid stands at the edge of it all, his right hand still bleeding through a rough bandage of gauze someone had found in a first aid kit. There’s blood on his cuff too, a dark smear that refuses to blend into the white fabric. He doesn’t flinch when Raees walks up beside him, only glances sideways once, briefly, then looks back toward the glass doors. They’ve already been replaced, new panes gleaming like nothing ever happened.“Ben,” he calls quietly, ignoring the thr

  • Seducing My Husband's Arch-enemy!   Picking Sides...

The café smells like burnt sugar and cheap coffee, the kind of place that pretends to be warm while it’s really an island of strangers with their own problems. Aaron Lawson pushes the door open and the bell chimes a small, polite note that feels obscene against the rawness in his chest. He scans the room and finds Nathaniel Brooks exactly where he expects, by the window where he can always keep his eyes on things outside, and this time, he doesn't mind that, as his hands wrapped around a steaming cup, posture casual enough to make Aaron want to throw the mug through his face.Brooks looks up and, of course, he smiles like the man has all the time in the world. He sets his cup down as though he’s been waiting for Aaron to arrive for a friendly chat. Aaron crosses the café in three hard strides. The world narrows. The coffee steam blooms like a small, useless halo.“You think that was clever?” Aaron asks. His voice is low and even, but it’s a thin line stretched tight, he'd driven the
