MIA

Next day~

Jake locked the private room and nodded at my shirt.

“Off.”

I pulled it over my head. The sports bra followed. His eyes moved over me the way they always did — not soft, just checking what he planned to use.

Then his hand landed on my left breast.

I flinched.

It was small. I still saw him catch it.

His thumb stopped on the faint mark Ryan had left last night, just above the nipple. Not a deep bruise. Enough.

“What’s this?” he asked.

“Nothing.”

He looked at my face, the

Great update! I need more please!! I wish Mia would find her confidence and her voice and stop letting Ryan and his mother dictate her every move. How’s does Ryan get time outside of the home, but Mia has none and each movement is accounted for?! Make it make sense please!!!

MIA Clara didn’t drop it. She just stirred her coffee slow and smooth, the spoon clinking soft against the ceramic like we were still two women talking about health and habits, not the man we were both tied to in ways she couldn’t even begin to guess. The café hummed around us — plates setting down, a laugh from the corner table, the barista calling out orders — ordinary noise that made everything she was saying feel almost normal. “I have a diet program at the clinic,” she said, casual as anything, like she was mentioning a new tea blend. “It’s simple. Balanced meals, nothing extreme, no crazy rules or cutting out whole food groups. It might help if you want it. If you feel like your body’s been fighting you and you want to meet it halfway.” “I didn’t ask for a program.” My voice was steady, but the edge was there — sharp and ready, the part of me that had spent years having my body discussed over dinner tables and holiday visits. “I didn’t come here for a plan or a list of w

MIA Clara turned her cup in her hands, slow and careful, like she was weighing every word before she let it out. Her thumb brushed the rim once, twice, and the café noise hummed around us — dishes clinking, someone laughing soft at the next table — but between us it was quiet, waiting for something she was already nervous to say. “Can I say something without it sounding ugly?” She lifted her eyes, earnest, like she was already bracing for me to get up and leave. “I don’t want to be rude. I just — I’ve been wondering, and I can’t ask anyone else.” “You can try.” I leaned back in the chair, arms loose in my lap, already half-prepared for whatever it was. “I’ve heard worse things said about me than anything you could come up with. Go ahead.” She hesitated, then glanced quickly at my body — not judgmental, just looking, the way you look at something you’re trying to understand — and looked away again, careful not to hold it too long. “Have you been… like this… since you were a child

MIA Clara didn’t look away after I said I wouldn’t go back to the gym. She just sat there, calm and steady, like she’d expected the answer and already had the next one ready. She turned her cup once in slow circles, watching the liquid inside swirl, then lifted her eyes to mine and said it like she’d been holding it behind every other word all afternoon. “You could work at my clinic.” I stared at her. For a second I couldn’t speak. The hum of the café, the clink of cups, the distant traffic — it all kept going while I sat there frozen. “What?” “Reception. Filing. Scheduling. Helping patients check in. Nothing you can’t learn in a week. It’s basic work, Mia. Nothing fancy. Just answering phones and keeping things organized.” She kept her voice light, casual, like she was offering me a ride home instead of a job. “Working with someone you know is easier than walking into places that don’t know your name. That’s all I’m saying. You wouldn’t be a stranger there.” “I didn’t come he

MIA Clara didn’t let me stand back up. Before I could even shift my weight or set my coffee down, she patted the empty chair across from her again, firmer this time, like she knew I was about to make an excuse and walk away. “Sit,” she said, soft but steady. “You look like you’ve been walking all morning. You look tired, Mia.” I sat. There was no good reason not to. The café was loud enough that our voices could stay small — espresso machines hissing, people laughing at the next table, music humming low in the background — safe enough that no one would overhear. She watched me lower myself into the chair, and her eyes went straight to my hand again, locking onto that pale, thin band where the ring used to sit, visible even in the dim light. She didn’t ask about it. She just waited, quiet and kind, like she already knew the answer and was giving me space to say it out loud. “Are you and Ryan okay?” I could have lied. I could have said it’s just a break, we’re going through a rough

MIA Jake left for the gym before the coffee finished cooling. I heard him grab his keys off the counter, the sharp jangle cutting through the quiet, the front door opening and closing with a firm, final click. He didn’t say goodbye. Didn’t look back. Just — gone, leaving me sitting at the small table with two half-empty mugs and a silence that felt heavy enough to press down on my shoulders. The coffee went from hot to lukewarm to cold while I sat there, staring at the closed bedroom door, at the spot where he’d been sitting two minutes earlier like nothing had changed except everything. I stood up slow, pushing the chair back in, and walked to the window. The street outside was ordinary — cars passing, people walking, the kind of morning where no one’s life is falling apart. I stood in his kitchen with no ring and a list scribbled in my head. Restaurant. Shops. Convenience store. Library. Anything. Anything that would pay enough that I did not have to sleep in his bed another w

MIA The word divorce hung in the quiet space between us, thick and unyielding, and for a long minute neither of us moved. Jake set his coffee mug down slow, the ceramic clinking soft against the table, and leaned forward, elbows on the wood, eyes locking onto mine like he needed me to understand every single word before he said them. “There are no papers yet,” he said, steady and unshakable, like he was laying out facts, not arguing feelings. “Nothing’s been filed. Nothing’s been signed. On paper you’re still his wife. Legally, nothing’s changed. And the gym — it’s mine. Not his. Not the family’s. My name on the lease, my investment, my business. You can come when you want. You don’t need his permission. You don’t need anyone’s permission.” I kept my eyes fixed on the tabletop, tracing the faint ring mark with my finger, the wood smooth and worn under my skin. “He’ll rush the papers. You know he will. He needs them signed and finalized if he wants to marry Lena. If he wants
