Elena

“I’m sorry! Elena, I’m so sorry!” Adrian suddenly sobbed, reaching out to grab the hem of my dress. He pointed a trembling, bloody finger at Vivian. “It was her! That bitch forced me into this! You’re the only woman I’ve ever loved!”

I stared at him with complete disdain. That wasn’t what he said when he stood over my deathbed.

“How dare you, Adrian?!” Vivian shrieked, snapping her head toward him. “You were the one who crawled back to me after I divorced my ex! You begged me to take you back! You told me you hated Elena and wanted her dead! You planned all of this, and now you’re blaming me?!”

I stood back with my arms crossed, watching the two lovers tear each other to shreds.

Idiots.

“Lucas!” I called out suddenly.

The entire room froze. Adrian, Eleanor, and Vivian all whipped their heads toward the front entrance in panic.

After a long silence, I let out a soft laugh. “Oh. He’s not coming. I was the one who handed the evidence to the police and put him behind bars.”

Eleanor let out a guttural scream, leaped to her feet, and lunged at me. “I’ll kill you!”

Before she could touch me, I delivered a sharp front kick directly into her stomach. She flew backward, hitting the floor with a loud groan.

“Damn you!” she wheezed from the floor. “We didn’t even poison you yet! We haven’t done anything to you!”

“None of you are innocent,” I said, closing my eyes for a brief second to erase the memory of the cold hospital sheets. “In this lifetime, every single one of you will pay in full.”

I turned back to Kane. “Take them all. They can work off your debt in whatever dark hole you throw them into. And if they can’t pay...” My eyes flicked to Vivian, who was trembling violently. “...Harvest their organs.”

“No! No!” Vivian screamed. “I have nothing to do with this debt!”

“You’re his wife,” I reminded her sweetly. “And you’re carrying his child.”

“I’m not! The baby isn’t his!” she shrieked, driven mad by fear. “The baby belongs to my lover!”

Adrian froze, staring at her in complete disbelief. “What... what did you just say?”

Vivian bared her teeth at him, laughing bitterly through her tears. “Did you honestly think you were man enough to father a child?! You pathetic coward!”

“How dare you cheat on me?!” Adrian roared, grabbing her hair with his remaining strength. “I ruined my life for you!”

“Let go of me! I didn’t ask you to beg me. You did!” she screamed back, clawing at his face. “I saw how easy you were. Nothing is my fault.”

I exhaled slowly, taking in the scene. Vivian was Adrian’s obsession, and Vivian had used him all along.

Poetic justice.

“Take them away,” Kane ordered.

His thugs surged forward, dragging Adrian, Vivian, John, and Eleanor out the front door. They fought and screamed the entire way. Vivian begged me to save her, but I didn’t even look back.

“Karma will catch up to you!” Eleanor shrieked as she was dragged down the driveway.

Karma!

I am their karma.

The front doors slammed shut, leaving the grand mansion completely silent. I walked over to the window, watching the unmarked vans drive away.

I took a deep, clear breath. For the first time since my rebirth, the air felt pure.

It was finally over. I had reclaimed my life.

ElenaI woke up feeling completely refreshed.Months had passed since that fateful day of retribution, and my new life had officially begun. I got out of bed, took a warm bath, and dressed in a sharp, tailored suit fitting for the Chairwoman I now was. As I picked up my handbag, my phone screen lit up with a notification:【Good morning! How are you feeling today?】I smiled warmly as I read Roxy’s text. Ever since everything went down, she had made sure to send me a message like this every single morning.【I’m doing wonderful, thank you. Have a great day!】 I typed back before slipping my phone into my purse.I walked down the grand marble staircase, where my new housekeeper greeted me with a polite bow.“Good morning, Chairwoman. Your breakfast is prepared.”“Thank you,” I replied, enjoying a quick, quiet meal before stepping out to my car.It was my original luxury car—the one Adrian thought he had hidden away in his friend’s garage. Kane made sure every single piece of property stole

Elena“What do you mean?” Adrian stammered from the floor. “Why are you sitting next to him? Get up!”I tilted my head back and laughed. It started as a soft chuckle, then burst into full, hysterical laughter until tears welled in the corners of my eyes. I clutched my stomach, savoring every second of their complete bewilderment.“What the hell is so funny?!” Vivian shrieked, her voice cracking. “You bitch!”My laughter died instantly. I turned a gaze colder than ice onto her. “Bitch? You’re referring to yourself, right?”“How dare you!” she screamed, taking a step back.“Mother,” I called out, my tone dripping with bitter irony. “Didn’t you tell me Vivian was just your distant cousin? How on earth did she end up as Adrian’s mistress?”“I am not a mistress!” Vivian cut in sharply, clutching Adrian’s arm. “I am his wife!”“Then what does that make me?” I asked smoothly.“The unloved one is always the mistress,” she spat back.“I suppose you’re right,” I said casually, inspecting my fin

ElenaBefore Adrian could take another step toward the door, the front entrance was kicked open with a deafening crash.Kane strolled into the foyer, flanked by a dozen burly men armed with iron bars and handguns. The shock on Adrian’s face was pure poetry.“Well, well,” Kane’s low voice echoed off the high ceilings. “Isn’t that Adrian Blackwood? I thought dead men were supposed to stay buried.”Adrian froze, his face draining of color as he instinctively shoved Vivian behind his back. “M-Mr. Kane...”From the shadows near the stairs, a surge of dark triumph rushed through me. Roxy hadn’t failed me after all—she had sent Kane directly to the house to intercept Adrian before he could flee!My phone vibrated silently in my palm. A text from Roxy appeared:【Sorry to keep you waiting! My dad had a sudden emergency, but Kane and his men should be arriving right now. Is he there?】I quickly typed back:【Yes. He just walked in. Thank you for everything—I’ll take it from here.】“Why are you h

Elena“Mother,” Vivian said nervously. “What are you talking about?”Eleanor snapped her head around, glaring at Vivian with cold, vicious hatred. It was the first time Eleanor had ever looked at her like that, and Vivian instinctively took a step back.“Don’t you dare call me mother!” Eleanor hissed. “My son is sitting in a prison cell, and you think I’m going to let you and Adrian live happily ever after?”“I am so sick of this!” Adrian shouted, throwing his hands up in the air. He ripped off his cap and ran a hand through his hair—a habit he always had when he was pushed to the edge.“I told you last time!” Adrian yelled, glaring at Eleanor. “I gave you money to pay off his mess before. I told you if he screwed up again, I wouldn’t lift a finger to help him! You dragged me back here because of that useless loser!”“That ‘loser’ is your brother!” Eleanor cried, her voice cracking. “Your younger brother!”“So what? I can’t do anything for him!” Adrian snapped. “He was caught red-hand

ElenaI sat by my bedroom window long past midnight, watching the driveway for headlights that never came. Adrian didn’t return that night.By the time exhaustion finally dragged me into a shallow, restless sleep, the sky had begun turning gray. I woke a few hours later to the smell of toasted bread and fresh tea drifting up through my door.I dressed slowly and made my way downstairs. Eleanor was waiting at the bottom of the staircase, an apron tied neatly around her waist, a warm smile plastered across her face as if the night before had never happened.“There you are, sweet girl,” she cooed, taking my hands in hers. “I made you breakfast. Come, sit.”She guided me to the table, where a full spread waited—eggs, fresh bread, fruit, a steaming cup of tea.She pulled out my chair herself, fussing over the placement of my napkin like a woman auditioning for the role of a doting mother.“Mother,” I said carefully, sitting down. “Is everything alright?”“I owe you an apology,” she said, l
