Lily:

A sinking feeling settled in my chest as I watched them laugh and lean closer to each other. "Who could the lady be?" Disappointment washed over me, I felt my heart was about to explode, and I swallowed hard, preventing the tears that were welling in my eyes. An invisible lump forms in my throat.
