Chapter 2

A sense of guilt and rage washed over Liam.

Upon hearing Liam's bellow, his subordinate accelerated without hesitation, flying them to Drunham City at top speed.

Liam kept repeating Celena's and Jovie's names over and over again in his mind.

He used to be the heir of the Cole family from Drunham City. Tied with the Walker family, they were the top families in the city.

Seven years ago, Liam was married to his childhood friend, the eldest daughter of the Walkers.

On the day of the wedding, the Walkers drugged his drink behind his back and dropped him in Celena's lounge. Celena's family—the Stones—were relatives of the Walkers.

Later, both the Walkers and the Stones joined forces to make a fuss. They said they wanted to seek justice for Celena and the Walker family's daughter. They then took the opportunity to gobble up the Cole family's properties.

The Cole family collapsed overnight. Their businesses were divided and properties were taken away.

The Stones even wanted to take Liam to court, accusing him of forcing himself on Celena. Liam's parents wanted to plead mercy for Liam, but they both died in the car crash while they were on their way.

Being hellbent on getting rid of the last of the Coles, the Walkers hired assassins to hunt Liam down everywhere.

Without a choice, Liam fled Drunham City and went to his friends to seek refuge. He never expected that his friends would receive bribes from the Walker family a long time ago. He was betrayed, so he had to go back into hiding.

Those few months were the darkest times in all of Liam's life.

He was once a high and mighty heir to a wealthy family and living a comfortable life. He also had a beautiful fiance who was his childhood friend. He was envied by everyone.

Then, he was set up by his fiance and his parents passed away. He was betrayed by his good friends, and he was being hunted all over the place.

Feeling hopeless, Liam chose to take his own life by jumping into the river.

Right as he jumped into the river, she came.

Celena—the woman who was violated by him that night—looked for him all over. After she saw Liam jumping into the river, she rescued him and brought him to an unoccupied house owned by the Stone family to take care of him.

Liam once asked her why she wanted to save him. He defiled her. It would only be reasonable for her to hate him to her core.

Celena simply comforted him, telling him that he was also a victim. She told him to not give up on himself on an impulse. Nothing was more important than staying alive. There would always be hope as long as he was alive.

Three days later, Celena left.

Harboring a deep grudge, Liam traveled to the north. By some chance, he later joined the Pendragon Warriors.

After repeatedly escaping death by the skin of his teeth, he gained plenty of achievements in battles. He also became the commander-in-chief of the Pendragon Warriors.

Later, he was favored by the head of the highly secretive family, the Cole family. He was taken in as a godson and took over the position of the new head of the family.

The Coles had an extraordinary status, so much so that all world leaders treated the Cole family members with respect.

The Pendragon Warriors were the epitome of invincibility as well. They did not belong to any country. They were an independent army under the Coles. They often traveled to all countries to resolve their wars as they were striving for world peace.

That was the teaching left by the forefathers of the Cole family.

At that moment, Liam took over the entire family as well as the Pendragon Warriors. He was already the most powerful person in the world.

At first, he was planning to return to Drunham City after the ceremony. He wanted to take revenge on the people who killed his entire family.

He did not expect that he would receive Celena's call before that.

At the thought of her words from earlier, Liam was covered in tears again as he could not hold back his emotions.

It had been seven years. She gave birth to the child and raised her on her own. And that was after she was violated, no less.

Liam could not imagine how much criticism and hardships she endured.

In his memory, Celena was a beautiful and kind woman. She was in her early 20s and had a sunny disposition. She was a naive woman who gave birth to their daughter after he defiled her.

A moment ago, she called him and told him that their daughter was about to die.

The sorrow in Celena's voice broke Liam's heart.

"Contact Dr. Jensen and get him to rush to Drunham City as fast as he can. Hurry up! Tell him that he has to be quick! Do it at all cost!" Liam roared at the top of his lungs.
