Rescuer

Ember's POV

Two thoughts ran through my mind.

Firstly, I didn't know what animal had snuck into the safe tunnel. It was almost like being stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea. I needed to leave as soon as possible.

The footsteps that were approaching stopped and I knew that they had also heard the warning that I did. I was probably trapped with an animal.

The next thing I did was to bolt from that place. That was the only option, if not I was going to die. It let out a growl again before chasing after me.

Now this was a mess because the mud had become sticky, the rogues that had come in after me had messed up the place. I was doing too many things at the same time. I was making sure that my legs were stepping on the right places so that I didn't get sucked up in the puddle that could make me slip and fall.

Louder growls echoed from the tunnel as it ran towards me. Man, I was competing with a highly skilled animal.

I jumped when I felt the ram of its horns at my butt. Shit!
