Chapter 24

Vasilios POV

While the dinner could have gone better, it could definitely have gone worse too, and for that I was grateful. Even though I didn't convince her to come to Poros with me, at least she was talking to me.

I watched her walk away with a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach, and instead of climbing in my hired car and driving off, I decided to wait a while.

I'm not sure what I was waiting for. Maybe for her to turn around and come back to tell me she'd changed her mind… who knows. But I was busy checking out her motorbike when I heard a chilling scream.

I knew in a heartbeat that it was Cassandra's scream, and my body instantly launched into action. I bolted through the front door of the apartment, letting the weathered front door slam back against the wall as I ran through it. The three flights of stairs were child's play and I was barely winded by the time I reached Cassandra's apartment.
