Chapter 39

Andrew’s point of view

Expecting to hear the deafening sound of a gunshot, the air was silent. Confusion washed over him, and his eyes widened in disbelief. Had something gone wrong? Had the gun malfunctioned? Andrew’s mind raced with questions as he stared at the gun in his hand.

“What the fuck?” Andrew said then started to examine the weapon.

“Surprise.” Dylan said as a mischievous smile crept across her face.

It was then Andrew realized what had happened. The gun he held was not a deadly weapon, but a harmless water gun. Dylan had played him; she must have changed the guns when his attention was on Kathrine.

“Fuck.” Andrew whispered, with his attention fixed on what had happened, without missing a beat Dylan turned around and started running in the direction Kathrine had gone.
