Abby on the other hand closed her eyes upon hearing Eugene's words; and before she could even stop her own emotion, tears started to fell from her eyes.
"Thank you..."
Abby chewed on her lower lips to stop it from quivering. Then she rose to her feat before falling on her knees again.
Eugene no longer argued with her about sleeping and instead invited her to join him outside."I know a good place to allow your mind to drift off completely. Would you like to come with me?"He asked as he extended his arm at Abby. Abby looked at his hand for a while but did not reach out right away.Only when Eugene was already about to take her hand back did she pulled it back with a smile."Of course, I am coming. You know how I love adventure."She said with a wink and without wasting another minute, she got up from her bed, still on her nightgown. It did not take that long before the two arrived at the backyard. The big full moon was hung high above the dark night sky illuminating the pavement with its pale glow.Abby had never been to that part of the house. It was like an abandoned zen garden. But despite the years of abandonment, it did little to dim its former glory. There were no living plants around the area. Everything was dead, the trunk was dry and leafless. At the center
'PHEW!'After a short while, Abby let out a satisfied sigh. She leaned at her back and touched her bloated belly."You sure had a blast.""Yeah, I surely did. Thanks for the food by the way. I did not realize how hungry I really am until I saw foods before me.""It seemed so."Eugene agreed right away."I already owe you a lot of things. For saving my life down to granting me a new lease to live a better life. I don't think I could ever pay you in this life time."Abby's expression turned solemn when she came to think about that. Just like what she said, she reckoned that there was no way that she could pay the other party back for all the good that he had done to her.But Eugene only smirked at her when he heard that. He looked around the place again before turning his attention back at Abby."Well, I guess there is a way for you to repay me actually. Have this barren garden revived and I will consider all your debts to me as good as paid." Eugene said as though he was giving Abby a
Rather than answering Abby, Eugene picked up a leaf instead. He tossed it in the air, and surprisingly enough, the leaf remained afloat and went up, up and the way instead of the other way around.Abby followed the floating leaf with her eyes as went further up. It did not stop from advancing forward and the said leaf soon vanished from her sight in no time.
"What are they called?"Abby could not help but asked as she observed the thing floating around them"They were simply bubbles made from the bubble machine over there."
"Nature sure knows how to choose the best timing."Jorah said.Abby had no idea when did he arrived, but when she looked down her feet, the cat was already sitting next to hers."Yeah, sure they are."Abby said to no one in particular as she simpered a smile and looked up at the sky.Gazing at the stars just like Jorah."Shall we go inside?"Abby invited Jorah and the cat agreed right away.""Just about time."And with that, they headed back inside the house together. On their way back at Abby's room, Jorah opened up a conversation with Abby"I heard from Master Eugene that you had been woken up from a bad dream. I knew it! You must have been haunted by the sight of me punishing those jerks. I am very sorry you have to see that, little girl."Jorah said and from the way how he sounded, it was clear for all ears to hear how deeply sorry he must have been feeling. He was probably blaming himself for Abby's nightmares."It was me who put you in this suffering. I am very sorry, little girl
Early the next day, Eugene could be seen talking to his pet Jorah.Judging from how serious they were discussing among themselves, it was not that hard to guess that they were planning about something."I want you to investigate them and track them down wherever the hell they were hiding."Eugene issued his command and Jorah nodded his head to let his master knew that he got him loud and clear.Eugene may not have shown it that often before, but the truth was that he truly cared for Abby.
In just a span of few seconds, a passageway opened up out of nowhere and out from that said mysterious passage emerged Eugene, followed by Jorah.Abby was waiting just outside the secret room so when the two came out, she and Eugene immediately locked eye contact. Yet both of them were quick to avert each other's gazes.Seeing this, Jorah only smirked and whistled away as they headed to the kitchen. They ate together in silence at the long dining table. Eugene was seated at the center end of the table while Abby took the other end. Putting a meter or two distance between them.
Meanwhile, seeing their sad faces, Eugene could not help but smile. For him they were like two kids that had been deprived of treats."Don't worry though. I would go get some help to get Abby's garden work done fast.""Really?!!!!"Abby and Jorah blurted out almost at the same time. Not just Abby, but Jorah was also visibly thrilled when he heard Eugene's plan. But then when the realization hit Abby, she went a little stiff."Wait a second. When you
