OLIVIA'S POV

Later that afternoon, I went out to the garden looking for the kids. It was their favourite place in the estate, especially the little wooden swing set near the roses. But when I spotted the swings from a distance, my heart stopped.

There she was.

Evelyn.

Her manicured hands gripped the swing ropes, and she was pushing Noah and Aria—but not gently. Her movements were erratic, almost violent. Noah gripped the chains tightly, his small frame nearly flung into the air. Aria looked terrified, white-knuckled, trying to stop the swing with her feet.

Something inside me snapped.

My wolf let out a furious snarl, echoing in my chest like a battle cry.

Before James could react, I was already running—no, charging—across the garden.

“Get away from my children!”

The words tore from my throat, harsh and raw, fueled by instinct and pure rage. Every part of me trembled—not from fear, but fury. My voice echoed through the garden, turning the heads of a few wandering pack members. I didn’t

DOMINIC’S POVI tossed and turned all night, the sheets twisted and strangling me like chains I couldn’t break free from. Sleep was a cruel dream, taunting me from just beyond my reach. No matter how many times I slammed my eyes shut, all I could see—burned into the back of my mind—was her.Olivia.Standing tall, standing proud, her arms folded across her chest as if to hold herself together, staring at me with those eyes...Eyes that once looked at me with so much love—now filled with nothing but betrayal and heartbreak. It gutted me.It destroyed me.How the hell was I supposed to forget that look? How was I supposed to live with myself after seeing it—knowing I had put that pain there?I gritted my teeth, punching the mattress uselessly. OLIVIA’S POVWatching Dominic’s broken silhouette disappear into the distance, something twisted painfully in my chest—sharp and lingering like an old wound ripped open again. All of this...All of this heartbreak, this anger, this hollow loneliness—it could have been avoided. We could have been living a normal life together. Raising our children. Building the kind of family I had always dreamed of. Laughing around a dinner table, tucking our pups into bed at night, sharing whispered conversations in the dark. But he ruined it.He didn’t just ruin it—he chose to ruin it.He trusted the wrong people. DOMINIC’S POVEver since the moment Olivia walked away from me, for the second time, my mind hasn’t known peace.I tried to tell myself it was just the bond, the mate pull… but deep down, I knew it wasn’t just that. It was her. Olivia. The woman I had once claimed thinking she is the answer to all my problems and my pack. The woman I let burn for the sake of lies wrapped in the illusion of duty. And now she was back… but she wasn’t mine anymore. She was so close I could still smell the familiar warmth of her scent in the air, still hear the soft cadence of her voice whenever she spoke. And yet, she felt a thousand lifetimes away from me. No longer the woman who once melted in my arms, trusted me with her heart, or whispered dreams into the quiet of our shared nights. Two days ago, I didn’t even know if she was still breathing. Two days ago, I was drowning in guilt and regret, haunted by the image of her burning in that cursed building, of me walking away, of choosing someone else over

OLIVIA’S POVEven I was surprised by my own words. The moment they left my mouth—sharp, venom-laced and dripping with a fury I’d kept buried for years—the entire garden seemed to fall silent. It was as if nature itself had gone still to witness the moment Evelyn’s perfect mask cracked. Her face drained of color. The smugness disappeared from her eyes, replaced by wide, trembling disbelief. Her lips parted as if to form a response, but no sound came out. For once, Evelyn Hart—the ever-so-poised Phoenix Luna—was speechless.“You… you’re lying,” she stammered, but her voice was thin, barely more than a breath. She clutched the folds of her dress, knuckles white. “Dominic would never—”I smiled sweetly, the kind of smile you give just before striking your enemy in the final blow.“Speechless?” I tilted my head, voice feather-light, mockingly cheerful. “That’s rare for you. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. It must’ve caught you off guard when he came to me the other day, saying how much

OLIVIA’S POV“You said we were going to meet Mom. Then why did you bring us all here, Olivia?” James asked, his tone cautious but firm.I didn’t stop pacing. My boots clicked against the polished hallway floor with every step, a steady rhythm to match the chaos in my chest.“All in due time, James,” I muttered, avoiding his gaze. “We just have to wait for the right time.”James exhaled sharply. “Olivia, try to calm down. You’re making the kids uneasy.”I glanced toward the corner where Noah and Aria sat, giggling quietly over some silly game. Their soft laughter was a balm to my frayed nerves, but it did little to dull the fury storming inside me.“They’re fine,” I said, my voice clipped. But I wasn’t. Not even close. My fingers curled into fists at my sides as I resumed pacing, every nerve in my body still buzzing from the confrontation with Dominic. The things he said. The way he tried to manipulate me, to force me into submission. He hadn’t changed. Not truly. And what boiled my bl
