“You.”

She said, while pointing straight at me.

My eyes widened. “Me?” I pointed at myself, giving her the most skeptical look I could manage.

She didn’t answer. She just stood there waiting, chin tilted up, eyes locked on mine like she already owned the outcome.

Everyone’s attention snapped to me in the same second. Nyx shifted awkwardly beside me, but she still gave me a tiny encouraging nod, like that was supposed to help.

I pushed myself up and took slow steps toward the cent

VAE “What was that, Vae?” Ryker asks, narrowing his eyes with suspicion. I stare at him, my mind racing. Is he asking why I resisted the bond, or did he notice the aura that slipped out of me when I pushed him away? Well… I will just wait for him to ask the actual question. "Are you resisting the bond?” he finally asks. Phew. He didn't notice that. But the relief didn't last long. I still got to the headache part of having to explain why I don't want his Mark. I let out a quiet sigh. I look at him, a lie already forming easily in my head. "Why shouldn't I?" I ask, raising my voice to sound angry. "Seraphine is still your girlfriend. Everyone looks up to her as the future Luna. And now, you brought me to your room to lock me up, while you will go around parading her as your princess right?." Using Seraphine as the reason I resisted the bond is a perfect excuse and It is also completely believable. By the time he sorts this matter out, I will have thought of another one to

  • My Mate.My Mission.   Chapter 13: Don't I deserve a thank you?

VAE “Why am I staying in your room?” I asked, turning around the second those heavy double doors slid shut behind him. He just looked at me and smiled. That stupid smirk that had an unwelcome effect on me. “Guess,” he said, walking over to the far side of the room. Guess? Guess what? He locks me in his room, in his personal space, completely surrounded by his scent. For what? To mark me? I frowned, feeling a wave of pure self-disgust just for letting the thought cross my mind. Never. My body was NOT overriding my head again. I watched him drop his hands and start unbuttoning his shirt. I gasped softly, instantly snapping my eyes away, staring hard at the ceiling, anywhere else but at him. Is he going to mark me? I glanced at him, then back. He’s going to mark me. I’m sure of it. Why else would he bring me to his personal room? My fingers instinctively flew to my neck, touching the bare skin where a mate mark usually sits. If he marks me, resisting this bond is goi

  • My Mate.My Mission.   Chapter 12: A Beautiful Trap

VAE “You can open your eyes now.” Shit. He's found out. I stayed still anyway, hoping he’d second-guess himself and leave me alone. He kept quiet for a while, the silence stretched except for the low hum of the engine. Then his deep voice came again. “You’re not very convincing, you know. I can feel you through the bond.” Fuck. I forgot about that. I opened my eyes slowly. He was watching me, grey eyes bright with that same quiet amusement I’d seen earlier. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. I felt like wiping it off his face. “How did you know?” “You half-opened your eye when we left the arena. And the bond doesn’t lie.” The smirk stayed a second longer, then faded as something more serious took over. He reached up and brushed a loose strand of hair away from my face. “What happened at the combat grounds? You moved before the strike hit you. You deliberately took the hit. Why?” Damn it. He knows. I went through everything I’d done in the arena while keepin

  • My Mate.My Mission.   Chapter 11: The Act

RYKER “Keep telling yourself that, omega. Everyone here knows what you are. Weak. Useless. Just another low-rank trying to climb by spreading your legs. You think kissing the crown prince would help you?” The she-wolf’s voice rang across the arena. Kissing? So she's behind the person who recorded that clip? My jaw tightened. She had guts. But something was off with Vae. She had moved just before the next hit landed. She was holding back. I could feel it through the bond. The way she fell looked deliberate. I narrowed my eyes. Why was she holding back? The she-wolf charged again. I watched Vae closely, especially her eyes. They looked timid and scared, but I couldn’t miss the fire behind them, the same fire she’d had after kissing me and then apologizing. It was like… Then she hits the ground hard. Something flared in my chest, the sudden sharp urge to protect her. My nails dug into the chair, she was there being beaten and I just sat here. But through the bond she wasn't

Nyx shifted awkwardly beside me, but she still gave me a tiny encouraging nod, like that was supposed to help. I pushed myself up and took slow steps toward the center of the arena. The she-wolf watched me the whole way, head held high, looking down on me the way only elite students know how. This was just another game of “Humiliate the omega” that elite students loved to play. I was sure of it. I have to keep my cover. I can’t fight her seriously, if I do, I’ll blow my cover. But I also don't want to let her win too easily. I remembered Ryker and glanced up at him. He looked tense already, not sitting comfortably in his chair at all. The mate bond was

  • My Mate.My Mission.   Chapter 9: An unexpected change

VAE “I’m done now, Nyx. Let’s go,” I said, sliding my jacket over my shoulders and turning away from the mirror to face her. But she sat on her bed, eyes still locked on her phone. I rolled my eyes. She had woken me up this morning, insisting we must not be late, and now she was still on her bed, completely focused on her screen. “Nyxara?” “No fucking way!!.” She suddenly exclaimed, sitting up and completely ignoring me. She looked so focused on her phone that I narrowed my eyes and walked up to her bed. “What’s wrong?” She looked up at me, shoving her phone in my face. “They changed our schedules.” “What’s that supposed to mean? Is it odd if they change class schedules?” “Yh, nothing’s wrong with that, but this current change applies to all ranks in the school. We get to attend the nobles’ and alphas’ exclusive classes, even combat training. And that’s our first class.” She handed the phone over to me and did a small happy dance. I took the phone from her, scrolling
