Amaya POV

When I opened my eyes, the first thing I felt was intense pain in my lower stomach, making it hard to even breathe.

For a second, I didn’t know where I was—just the white walls and the steady beeping sound—but then it all slammed into me. The contractions, the screaming, and the way everything had gone crazy and terrifyingly dark.

He shifted, like he half thought he was dreaming, then suddenly bolted upright so fast it startled me, his eyes widening.

“Amaya…?” He breathed my name like a prayer. His eyes were bloodshot, dark circles under them, his hair a mess, even his shirt was wrinkled.
