Selene’s POV

My heart missed a beat. The guard’s hand stayed up in the air, his eyes on the man whom we were all looking at.

“My… Elysia?” He asked slowly, his eyes growing wide with terror.

“Yes, my lord. The healer asks to see you.”

His eyes met mine, and instead of the normal anger I expected to see in them, what I saw in them was something very different.

Fear.

I had never thought that a man like him was capable of such an emotion. It was even odd on him and it made the air even more stale.

Selene’s POVThe guards were at the door, guarding me like I was some valuable asset that no one could touch. But in all honesty, I had known Lucian for a little while now and I’ve never seen him as serious as he was minutes ago—not even when he killed a guard when I just arrived here with Liam months ago and we were almost beheaded. It wasn’t just the whole beheading tirade that was making him worked up now, I could just feel it in my bones. I just knew it deep down that it was way more than that. Something was really wrong and it was something I wouldn’t like. Most probably something about me? Could it be Leo?No. I knew him a bit and I knew that he wasn’t so dumb to actually show up now. He’d still show up, but not now.Whatever it was, I knew it wouldn’t be something good. But I wasn’t going to just stand around either.Sneaking out of this room was way out of options. I mean, how could I possibly get past those giant guards or even sneak out through windows strong enough that the

Lucian’s POVI didn’t stop till I got to the wing, and she didn’t stop yelling to be dropped also. I paid no attention to everyone we walked past and saw on the way.“Stay right there and never come out until I say so,” I said as I dropped her, barely able to constrain Kairos.“What’s going on? Am I being imprisoned again?” I stared down at her body, my head starting to get filled with thoughts that I’d rather bury at that moment. I chastised myself and looked back at her, my face pulled into a hard frown.“It’s for your safety,” I said then walked out of the room, giving her a strict look that was meant to communicate how serious I was to her.The warriors that I had told to guard the wing earlier were still there. I nodded firmly at them, “Do your job.” I said then started to walk downstairs.I just hoped on Zeynir’s head that he didn’t intend to come over here for anything funny. I was already on edge and he might just be the one who’d pull the last straw. He was at the border just

  • My Mate Stole My Eyes For My Sister   Chapter Fifty-Six

Selene’s POVHis hips ground into mine, slow and steadily. I lifted my hand and ran my fingers through his soft hair, pulling him closer to me at the same time.He delved into my neck, inhaling so deeply like he just got a hold of his favorite scent and he wasn’t going to let go anytime soon. His scent was way stronger than it had ever been. And his face? It was the most handsome I’ve ever seen. A gasp left my mouth as he grabbed me by the waist. His sharp fangs grazed the flesh on my neck. My body surged with fire, every part of my body rising in… want? Need? His head rose and he looked into my eyes instead. His eyes were laden with lust, sending signals of pleasure through me. Everywhere our skin touched went alit with more fire.He groaned as he looked right into my eyes, his eyes saying more words than his mouth ever could. His head dipped low and the space around us seemed to get even thinner. The outline of his lips got even closer and I swallowed thickly. Before I knew it, our

Lucian’s POVThree days. That was all I was away for in this kingdom and everything had turned upside down.I fucking had the intuition that something was wrong when I got that notification that night that one of the kingdom’s investments in Silvercrest was on the verge of collapse as some unidentified persons wanted to demolish it.I had sent Darius there. He had been my second in command for years and I trusted him long enough to know that he barely solved any problems that I gave him to solve. But for the first time in years, he wasn’t able to do that at Silvercrest. The rising terrorist group was so thick that they were able to push him back to the extent of him calling for more backup at that time of the night. He didn’t call for me, but I left.Hundred, or even more—those were the number of rogues that I single-handedly fought. And Darius on the other hand had fallen into a coma. He was so battered that anyone could barely recognize him.Everything happened so fucking fast—inclu

Selene’s POVBefore I knew it, I was in his arms. My eyes were a bit hazy but I could still see his face and I could make out how angry he was.His hand wrapped around my waist and steadied me, dragging me closer to him. The wet blood on him stained my body but that was the least of my problems at the moment.“What the fuck is going on here?” He asked, his voice so gruff that his body vibrated against mine. The tension in the air was thick, but it wasn’t as thick as the heat that soared through my body at the sound of his voice.“Your majesty—” Someone tried to say but I didn’t hear whatever they said after that because the pain in my lower region increased and a moan louder than earlier slipped through my mouth. Before I knew it, I was being lifted and the smell of cedar got so thick that it was all I could inhale.“Shit, you’re burning up.” Strong arms lifted me away from the noise surrounding us. The heat pooling from his body did well to quieten down the one surging through me.No

The execution is bound to happen before the king returns.” He said, then he turned before I could even fully grasp the weight of his words. The moment he left, I was grabbed from behind and pulled right into Liam’s cell. The guards were divided with only two of them standing close to the cell. I turned to look at Liam properly for the first time and my heart skipped a beat.He looked worse than I thought. My lips quivered

Lucian’s POVThe trial was baseless and I knew it right from the onset. It wasn’t even needed and the only reason I agreed to come to it alongside Selene and Liam was because I wanted to see what they really intended to do with it.And they didn’t disappoint me. Not even one bit.A constrained grow

Selene’s POVI had started to think that maybe I was being too hard on myself and the King. After leaving the king’s presence yesterday, I realized that maybe—just maybe he’s under pressure too.
