My Mission Was to Stop My Dad from Marrying My Mom

The ring exchange came to an abrupt halt.

My young parents turned toward me in unison.

The next second, everyone cried out in shock.

I rushed onto the stage and grabbed Dad by the arm.

“Let’s go!”

“Hey! Who are you? Let him go!”

Mom finally snapped out of it and shouted furiously, “What are you waiting for? Go after them!”

I dragged Dad into a taxi and ordered the driver to speed away.

“What are you trying to do?”

Dad eyed me warily.

I gripped both his shoulders tightly.

His face was youthful and handsome, his eyes bright with life, and my own eyes began to sting.

This was how he was supposed to look.

“Mr. Lowe, you can’t marry that woman. She’s a vile cheater.

“After you married her, she exploited your trust and loopholes in the law to transfer all your assets into her name.

“When you became seriously ill, she even brought her lover and their illegitimate child into your home.

“To give your son a better future, you swallowed your pride and signed the divorce papers, leaving the marriage with nothing.

“But even then, your son was eventually beaten to death by his stepfather. You dragged your sick body to confront her, only for her lover to shove you into oncoming traffic. She never even looked at you again before you died!”

Dad stared at me with wide eyes.

“Who… who are you?”

“She isn’t good enough for you.”

I tightened my grip on his shoulders.

“Your childhood sweetheart, Suzy Shaw, is coming back to the country in a week.

“She loves you. After you died, she mourned you for the rest of her life! She’s the woman you should marry!”

The confusion in Dad’s eyes turned into shock.

“How do you know Suzy?”

With a loud bang, the taxi suddenly slammed on its brakes, crashing into the car in front of us.

Cars came barreling toward us from every direction, their drivers seemingly intent on killing us.

The taxi driver trembled in terror.

The next second, the car door flew open, and someone grabbed me by the throat.

“You’ve got a death wish! How dare you try to steal my husband!”

“Mr. Lowe, you can’t marry her! Promise me! Wait one more week! She’ll be back in one week!”

“Honey, don’t listen to him. I don’t even know him.”

Mom threw herself into Dad’s arms.

Her men dragged me away, and no matter how hard I struggled, I couldn’t get any closer to Dad.

All I could do was reach toward him with difficulty.

“You can’t marry her! Stay away from her!”

Mom merely huddled against Dad’s chest.

“That was terrifying, honey. Was he sent by one of our rivals to sabotage us?”

Dad watched with a complicated expression as I was dragged away.

He slowly shook his head.

Mom finally relaxed and smiled.

“You scared me to death… As long as you’re all right. Let’s go back and get married.”

Dad laced his fingers with hers.

He glanced toward the direction I’d been dragged and gave a small nod.

“Alright.”

“You actually dared to ruin Miss York’s wedding! Are you tired of living?”

I was shoved hard to the ground, scraping my hand and drawing blood instantly.

One of Mom’s men loomed over me. I looked up at him and let out a cold laugh.

“You’re nothing but a Lowe family lapdog. Without Shane Lowe’s backing, Nancy York would be nothing!”
