I held my breath as we entered the room. I tried to hold my head high and focused on each step, praying that nothing would betray how nervous I was. I didn't want to look at their faces. I could already imagine their stares filled with disdain or disgust, even refusing to spare a glance. I kept programming myself mentally, implanting self-esteem, and repeating that I was way better than most of those fools.

I quickly noticed that Sariel wanted to make a clear statement this time around. As I walked inside, I saw two thrones placed on the podium: one for him as the King and one for me as his Queen. Ignoring the etiquette, he led me to my seat first, making sure that I sat comfortably before taking his rightful place on my right.
