Damien

"Tell Mr. Richard I want the revised projections on my desk in the next thirty minutes. I will be in the office soon."

I glanced through the windshield as traffic slowed ahead. Silence settled inside the car as I ended the call.

Almost instinctively, my eyes drifted to the rearview mirror.

Ariana was sitting in the back seat. The moment my gaze found her, she lifted her head as though she'd somehow felt me looking.

Our eyes met in the mirror. Only for a second. She looked away first.

ArianaI stared at the flight booking page glowing on my laptop screen. My cursor hovered over the Confirm Reservation button, but I couldn't bring myself to click it.Another business trip. Another flight. Another city. With Damien.I leaned back in my chair and rubbed my temple. I looked back at the booking details.Departure: Thursday.Return: Saturday. Two nights.I squeezed my eyes shut remembering what happened in Paris. No matter how much I tried to remind myself of reality, my heart kept returning to those moments instead of everything that came after them. The sharp knock against the glass partition made me jump.I looked up so quickly that my knee hit the underside of the desk."Ouch."Theo stood outside my office, grinning like he'd just witnessed the funniest thing imaginable. I clicked the screen closed, minimizing the booking page before waving him inside. He opened the glass door and stepped in."You know," I said, narrowing my eyes at him, "you've officially turned my

Damien "...the Henderson agreement has officially been finalized. Legal has already forwarded the signed copies, and Finance estimates the acquisition will increase annual revenue by just over eighteen percent."Dan's voice carried steadily through the office as he flipped to the next page in the report."The board members have also approved the expansion into the Eastern region. Construction on the new headquarters is expected to begin next quarter, provided the permits come through on schedule."I gave a slight nod. "Good.""And Romano Group has also confirmed this afternoon's appointment. Mrs. Romano would like you and Miss Vanessa to arrive by four o'clock to begin the final wedding attire fitting."Wedding attire. The words barely registered. Because my mind wasn't in the office anymore. It hadn't been since lunchtime. I had only intended to check on Ariana. She had asked for distance. I had given it to her. I moved her office exactly where she'd wanted. Quiet. Private. Away fro

  • My Obsessed Mafia Ex Wants Me Back   Chapter 50

ArianaI had expected Damien to ignore my request. Because that was what Damien Valmont did.He listened. Then he did whatever he wanted anyway. So when I stepped out of the elevator the following morning, coffee in one hand and my handbag hanging from my shoulder, I was mentally preparing myself to walk into his office as though last night's conversation had never happened.Instead...Dan intercepted me halfway down the corridor."Morning, Miss Ariana.""Good morning."He motioned for me to follow him. "I'll show you your new workspace."I blinked. For a second, I simply stared at him. Then the meaning of his words finally sank in. He actually did it.I followed Dan down the corridor until we stopped in front of a spacious corner cubicle surrounded by glass partitions. It wasn't completely enclosed like Damien's office, but it was private enough to work without constant interruptions.A brand-new computer sat neatly on the desk beside my files, stationery, and everything else that had

ArianaThe front door clicked shut behind me as I stepped onto the porch my gaze landing on the black sedan parked in front of the house.Damien was leaning casually against the driver's side, one hand tucked into the pocket of his trouser, the other holding two takeaway cups of coffee. The moment he saw me, the corner of his mouth lifted into a smile. My pulse stumbled. Tessa's words echoed mercilessly inside my head.At least be honest about where your heart is. I tightened my grip on my handbag.No. This had to stop."Ready for your lesson, Driver?"His voice pulled me back before I could lose myself in my thoughts.I should tell him I wasn't feeling well and go back inside.Instead...My feet carried me toward the car.I accepted the coffee with a quiet, "Thank you."He opened the passenger door for himself while I walked around to the driver's side.A small part of me couldn't believe I was actually doing this again. I slid into the driver's seat, setting my handbag behind me b

  • My Obsessed Mafia Ex Wants Me Back   Chapter 48

ArianaIt had been three days since Damien had declared, without asking for my opinion, that I was starting driving lessons.Three days since he'd completely ignored my protests. Three days since I'd foolishly allowed it.Sometimes I genuinely questioned my own sanity.Wasn't I supposed to be avoiding him? After everything that had happened—the dinner, the kiss, the conversation in his car, the confession that still echoed in the back of my mind whenever I tried to sleep, I should have been putting as much distance between us as possible.Instead, every single day seemed to throw us together. It was almost laughable. I'd had every logical reason to stay away from Damien Valmont. My heart, unfortunately, had developed a very annoying habit of refusing to listen to logic. The first driving lesson had been nothing short of a catastrophe.I'd spent the first fifteen minutes insisting I wasn't getting behind the steering wheel while Damien had stood there looking entirely unimpressed by my

ArianaSleep never came. I spent the entire night staring at the ceiling, replaying every second inside Damien's car until I could no longer tell which memories belonged to six years ago and which belonged to last night. The kiss. The way he'd looked at me.I haven't moved on.Those four words had become a curse.I turned onto my side with a frustrated groan, burying my face deeper into the pillow. What was I supposed to do with that? For six years I'd forced myself to believe the man who'd walked away from me no longer existed. I had mourned him, hated him, missed him, and eventually convinced myself that whatever we once had was buried where it belonged. Then one kiss—no two. The first one was in Paris. "Mommy."A tiny hand poked my cheek. I opened my eyes to find Lily kneeling beside the bed, her curls sticking out in every direction."Morning, sunshine," I murmured, forcing a smile. She tilted her head. "Bad dream?"If only it had been a dream. I brushed a strand of hair away fro

Arianna"Sorry. You're no longer working with us."Those were the words that kept circling in my head. Within less than twenty-four hours, I had lost both jobs.First S&M Publishing House shutting down overnight after the fraud investigation. Then walking into the club and getting informed the boss

DamienPower changes people. Sometimes it hardens you slowly until you stop recognizing yourself. Other times, it turns you into exactly what the world feared you would become in the first place. Two months. That was how long I had been out of the country handling shipments, negotiations, and probl

  • My Obsessed Mafia Ex Wants Me Back   Chapter 2

Ariana It took me a few seconds, maybe longer than that to convince myself that I wasn't imagining things. That this wasn't some cruel trick my exhausted mind was playing on me.Because once upon a time, those same eyes used to look at me like I was something precious. Like I was the only person i

  • My Obsessed Mafia Ex Wants Me Back   Chapter 1

ArianaI used to think survival was about strength... about smiling through pain and standing tall no matter how hard life pushed you.But life doesn't work like that. Now I know survival is just getting through the day without falling apart. The city lights blurred past the taxi window as I stared
