chapter 6

Lyra’s POV

The room seemed to shrink as Gray's lips pressed against mine, a forceful intrusion that sent shivers down my spine. His scent, a blend of woods and a hint of spice, enveloped me, clouding my senses. It was the very essence of everything I ever desired, the fragrance the Moon Goddess had chosen for me.

I tried to resist, pushing against his chest, but my strength was weak under the weight of his desire. Each kiss intensified, leaving me breathless and questioning the boundaries I had vowed to uphold. The world outside melted away, and for a moment, it was just us, tangled in a forbidden dance of lips and tongues.

As he deepened the kiss, I couldn't deny the magnetic pull drawing me closer. It was as if the moon herself conspired to entwine our fates. My hands, initially pushing against him, now clung to his shirt as conflicting emotions surged within me.

Finally, I gathered the strength to break away, wiping my lips as if trying to erase the traces of our stolen moment. "Gray, what are you doing here?" I stammered, my voice betraying a mix of confusion and frustration.

His eyes, intense and filled with longing, locked onto mine. "I already told you Lyra, I can't resist you, Lyra," he confessed, his voice carrying the weight of unspoken emotions.

"But you choose Raven….." My words trailed off, unable to voice the complexity of the situation.

Before I could comprehend, his lips found mine again, a relentless pursuit that left me both weak and wanting. The scent of his cologne lingered, a haunting reminder of the desires etched into my memory.

After a while, I mustered the strength to push him away. "Gray, we can't," I pleaded, my breath uneven. "You've chosen Raven, and I won't be a secret."

He looked into my eyes, a sea of conflicting emotions evident in his gaze. "Lyra, I love you," he confessed, his words hanging in the air.

A mix of anger and hurt surged within me. "Love? In public, you rejected me for Raven, and now you claim love in private?" I retorted, the sting of humiliation still fresh in my mind.

He smiled, attempting to lighten the tension. "You can't deny you feel the same, Lyra. You can't resist me."

A frown creased my forehead. "It's not about that," I countered, my resolve firm. "I won't be a fool, rejected publicly and claimed privately."

His smile persisted. "But it's true, isn't it? You can't resist me."

I sighed, frustration welling up. "This isn't a joke, Gray. You made your choice, and I won't be your hidden secret." Even though I didn't totally believe what I had just said, something inside of me would gladly want to be his secret, someone who loved me at least, for something.

As I attempted to leave, he gently held me back. It was then I noticed a figure watching us from the shadows. The person darted away, but not before Gray caught a glimpse. “There was someone there, watching us.” I said to him, with slight fear and irritation.

"I'll take care of it," he assured, his hand lingering on my shoulder.

I pulled away, my emotions in turmoil. "Not only am I humiliated and labeled weak, rejected by my true mate, now someone has seen us. They'll spread the word, make everything worse."

Gray sighed, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I'll handle it, Lyra. Trust me."

But trust was a fragile thread, frayed by rejection and secrecy. I couldn't bring myself to accept the reality that he had rejected me, and yet, here he was, claiming love in the shadows.

As he went to address the situation, I remained in my room, grappling with the tumult of emotions. The world I yearned for, a life with acceptance, love, and joy, seemed farther away than ever. The course of my life had indeed veered into unpredictable territory, a maze of secrets and unspoken truths.

My identity, power, and purpose remained hidden beneath layers of deception. The moon, witness to my silent prayers, remained indifferent. I, Lyra, the wretched Omega, stood at the crossroads of a story that had only just begun.

*********

The room felt like a prison, the walls closing in as I crumpled onto my bed. I covered my face with a pillow, a feeble attempt to muffle the sobs that wracked my body. The weight of rejection, the sting of being labeled weak, and the torment of witnessing Gray's clear and obvious affections overwhelmed me.

"Why?" I whispered into the fabric, as if the pillow held the answers. The Moon Goddess, indifferent to my pleas, cast her cold light through the window, mocking my pain.

In the depths of the pain, I found myself speaking to the moon, a desperate plea escaping my lips. "Moon Goddess, if the pain I've endured is not enough, spare me from waking when I sleep. Let the agony end with the closing of my eyes."

But silence greeted my anguished words, and the room remained indifferent to my suffering. The moon, an indifferent spectator, cast shadows that danced in cruel mockery of my shattered dreams.

As I lay there, drowning in my despair, the sound of movement outside reached my ears. I hesitated, wiping away the tears, and slowly opened the door to a world that seemed to have lost all its color.

Gray stood there, a shadow in the moonlight, a smirk playing on his lips. "I took care of it," he said, his voice carrying the weight of unspoken actions.

I looked at him, my eyes searching for any sign of remorse. "Did you kill someone?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper.

He chuckled, the sound sending shivers down my spine. "No need for that. I simply took away their memory. A clean solution."

My gaze hardened. "You tampered with someone's mind?"

He shrugged, nonchalant. "It was necessary. Wasn't it?." He asked.

“Whatever.” I said to him, I just wanted to be alone now.
