His face neared hers and enlarged in her vision. "You should leave now"

"Why?" she began in an indignant tone. "You don't get to tell me what to do. I am no longer your employee"

He suddenly began taking steps forward. Val's heartbeat tripled its rate as she remembered when he kissed her in his office. She consciously took steps backward till she was cornered at the doorstep. Feeling like the walls were closing on her, she badly wanted to close her eyes however managed to fight it by keeping them open.

She had nowhere to run to. He got closer "Lower your voice, we are at the hospital, not a public market "

Nonetheless, Val stood her ground and conveyed "I am not leaving, Xander"

His pupils widened. Did she just call him by his name?

She pushed her glasses at the bridge of her nose, now able to breathe as he backed off. Xander's fiery eyes calmed down as his gaze narrowed.
