LOGINCHAPTER THREE - She's the one
Jaxon’s POV
I was about to leave the arena when the noise behind me slowly began to fade into something I no longer cared about.
The match had ended, the crowd was still reacting, and my team was still celebrating somewhere behind the glass walls, but my mind was already elsewhere.
I adjusted my grip on my bag and walked through the corridor that led toward the exit, trying to ignore the weight that always came with these places.
Because leaving the hockey world was never truly leaving.
Outside of it, something else waited, a pack that never stopped asking questions, a council that never stopped demanding answers and a future I had never agreed to.
As Alpha, they all wanted the same thing from me, a mate, a bond, a continuation of bloodlines and politics and power I never asked for.
Every meeting, every gathering, every quiet conversation ended in the same direction. Kelly. The Beta’s daughter, she was always presented like a solution. A perfect match on paper. A perfect symbol for unity. A perfect way to satisfy expectations without conflict but I had already decided she would never be mine, not her, not anyone they chose for me.
I exhaled slowly as I stepped closer to the exit, freedom was supposed to feel like relief, but lately it felt more like pressure from another direction.
That was when I noticed movement near the side corridor, a figure sat alone near the benches, slightly hidden from the main path where everyone else had already left. At first I almost walked past without paying attention, but something about the stillness made me slow down.
She was shaking.I recognized her, the girl from earlier, the one who had fallen during the match and stood alone on the ice while people laughed, I did not know her name.
In the arena, people did not use it much. They used something else instead. Something careless. Something dismissive. “Fat girl.” As if reducing someone was easier than seeing them
I stopped walking before I realized I had done it, she looked worse than before, not physically, but emotionally, like something inside her had completely collapsed and she was trying to sit inside the ruins without knowing how to move.
I approached slowly without making noise. When I was close enough, she finally noticed me, her eyes lifted slightly, red and wet, and for a moment she looked confused like she could not understand why I was still here.
Then she spoke softly, almost broken. “Do you want your jacket back?”
Her voice was thin, like she had been holding it in for too long.
I shook my head slightly. “I did not come for that,” I said calmly.
She looked down again, like she did not have thestrength to hold eye contact for long. Then I asked the question that had formed without permission.
“Why are you crying?”
For a moment she did not answer, her fingers tightened slightly around the edge of the jacket I had given her earlier, and I could see her trying to steady her breathing again.
Then she spoke. “My man betrayed me.”
The words came out uneven, broken, like they had been sitting inside her chest for too long and finally forced their way out and then she cried again, harder this time.
Her shoulders shook fully, and she bent forward slightly as if her body could no longer carry the weight of what she had just said.
Something inside me shifted, not sympathy alone, something deeper.
My wolf reacted before I understood what it meant. “It screamed… “Mate… Mate… Mate”
It moved inside me sharply, restless, alert, focused entirely on her. It was not the usual reaction I had learned to control over years of discipline. This was different, stronger, Immediate.
The thought came without permission, I stared at her quietly, watching her break apart in front of me while everyone else had already moved on from her existence.
For some reason, I did not walk away, I stayed.
She wiped her face quickly, embarrassed, trying to regain whatever dignity she still had left. “I am fine,” she said weakly, even though she was clearly not.
I did not believe her, I had seen enough people lie about that word.
Fine never meant fine. My gaze stayed on her longer than I intended
She was still shaking, still trying to breathe normally, still unaware of how strongly my wolf was reacting to her presence and then the thought came again.
Stronger this time, what if she was mine.
The idea did not feel like curiosity, It felt like recognition, like something inside me had already decided before my mind had caught up. I stepped slightly closer without thinking, her eyes lifted again, uncertain, watching me like she did not know what I was going to do next.
My voice came out lower than before, steady but different.“Do you mind coming with me? You can't stay alone here”
The words landed between us like something neither of us expected.
Her entire body froze instantly.
Her eyes widened slightly, confusion breaking through her pain for the first time.
For a moment, she did not move, she only stared at me and in that silence, I realized I had just changed everything without meaning to but I did not take the words back.
Because my wolf had already chosen and wouldn't want her to stay alone
CHAPTER NINETY Sizex — The Ancient RogueStella’s POVBy the time I reached the fighting ground, almost everyone in the pack was already there. The entire place was crowded, with wolves standing around the large open area where the challenge would take place. Some of the older members stood closer to the elders, while the younger wolves gathered behind them, whispering among themselves as they waited for the trial to begin.I could feel the tension in the air even before anyone explained what was happening.Jaxon and Darius were already standing at the top of the fighting ground, facing the elders.I looked at Jaxon. He appeared calm, but I knew him well enough to notice the seriousness in his eyes. This was different from everything we had faced before. There was no hockey rink.No crowd cheering for a game.No referee who could stop everything when someone was hurt. This was a challenge that involved his position as Alpha and I had no idea what they were about to make him do.I mov
CHAPTER NINETY FIve — STANDING BESIDE YOUStella’s POVI stayed in my room for several minutes after leaving the dining but I could not stop I could not stop thinking about what I had heard, especially the part about Darius becoming Alpha if Jaxon failed the first challenge.I knew Jaxon had been under pressure since we arrived, but I had not realized how much was at stake.I finally left my room and walked through the quiet hallway until I found him standing near the balcony, looking out at the pack.He seemed lost in thought.I stood there for a moment before speaking. “Jaxon.”He turned immediately. The moment he saw me, his expression softened. “You should be resting.”“I was trying to, but then I heard something I think you should explain to me.”He looked at me for a moment, then sighed. “Aboutt the one from the hall'I nodded. He looked away. “I didn’t want you worrying about it tonight.”“That doesn’t make it better.”He looked back at me. “I know.”He walked toward me slowly
CHAPTER NINETY-THREE — THE ALPHA’S HOUSEStella’s POVBy the time we arrived at Jaxon’s alpha's house, I was already exhausted from everything that had happened at the pack hall.I had thought coming back to the pack would be simple.I thought I would stay with Jaxon, watch him deal with whatever responsibilities he had here, and eventually return to my normal life.Instead, I had watched the elders prepare to replace him, listened to them announce an Alpha trial, and somehow ended up being dragged into the whole situation simply because I was standing beside him.I still didn’t understand what they meant when they said I would be part of his trial. That was something I needed Jaxon to explain. The moment we reached the front door, it opened before we could knock. One of the maids stood there with a warm smile. “Welcome back, Alpha. We knew you would be arriving today, so everything has already been prepared, and dinner is waiting for you in the dining room.”Jaxon nodded as he steppe
CHAPTER NINEty Three – THE ALPHA TRIAL Jaxon’s POV The moment we entered the pack territory, I knew something was wrong. The road was usually quiet whenever I came back from the city, especially during the afternoon, but that day there were people everywhere. Wolves were leaving their homes and moving in the same direction, most of them walking quickly toward the pack hall. I slowed the car. Stella looked through the window, trying to understand what was happening. “Why is everyone going to that side” she asked. I frowned. “I don’t know but that's the pack hall" I looked at the people again. There were too many of them for it to be a normal gathering. Some were dressed formally, while others were carrying things that looked like they had been prepared for a ceremony. My hand tightened around the steering wheel. "“Something is happening.” Stella turned toward me. “Should we ask someone?” Before I could answer, I noticed several members of the pack looking at our car. The m
CHAPTER Ninety Two – The One Behind the TreesStella’s POVJaxon charged toward the rogue so quickly that I barely had time to understand what was happening. One second, I was standing there frozen, watching the wolf move through the trees, and the next, Jaxon was already running toward it with a speed I had never seen before.I wanted to follow him, but my legs refused to move. Then I heard a voice.“Please!”The sound was weak and frightened, and it came from somewhere behind the rogue. My heart stopped. That voice sounded familiar.I stared through the trees, trying to see clearly as Jaxon reached the rogue and forced him away from whoever was standing behind him.The rogue turned aggressively, but Jaxon attacked before he could move toward the person again. They collided with a loud growl that made me step backward.I could barely see them through the trees, but I could hear the struggle as Jaxon pushed the rogue farther away. Then I heard the frightened voice again. “Please, jus
CHAPTER Ninety One – The Wolf I Had Never Seen Stella’s POV The drive to the pack was much more comfortable than my first trip there because this was already my third time going, and I was beginning to get used to the roads and the quiet surroundings. Jaxon had the music playing softly as he drove, and I sat beside him while we talked about different things. Every now and then, he would make a comment about something on the road, and I would laugh at him before returning my attention to the music. For a while, everything felt normal. I looked out through the window, watching the trees pass by as the music continued to play. Then, without warning, Jaxon reached toward the dashboard and turned the music off. I looked at him. “What happened?” He didn’t answer. His eyes remained on the road, but his attention seemed to be somewhere else. I watched him for a moment before asking again. “Jaxon?” He raised one hand slightly, asking me to remain quiet. I immediately b
