CHAPTER ONE - Chase, Help me Stella’s POV I had just finished my own match. My skates were still cold against my skin as I settled into the upper viewing section, watching the arena fill again for Chase’s game. Chase was next and I already knew he would win, because I made sure of it. To Chase, I was just his girlfriend, a supportive one, a quiet one,a girl who smiled after every match and kissed him like he earned every victory himself. He didn’t know I was the reason he never had to struggle for long, my fingers rested lightly on the railing as I watched him warm up below. No one knew that my father was the commissioner of the National Hockey League. His face appeared on television every season. Coaches answered to him, team owners respected him, officials were careful around him. If I wanted to use his name, I could. One phone call from my father could change how people looked at a player. One recommendation could open doors that would otherwise remain cl

CHAPTER THREE - She's the one Jaxon’s POVI was about to leave the arena when the noise behind me slowly began to fade into something I no longer cared about. The match had ended, the crowd was still reacting, and my team was still celebrating somewhere behind the glass walls, but my mind was already elsewhere. I adjusted my grip on my bag and walked through the corridor that led toward the exit, trying to ignore the weight that always came with these places.Because leaving the hockey world was never truly leaving.Outside of it, something else waited, a pack that never stopped asking questions, a council that never stopped demanding answers and a future I had never agreed to.As Alpha, they all wanted the same thing from me, a mate, a bond, a continuation of bloodlines and politics and power I never asked for. Every meeting, every gathering, every quiet conversation ended in the same direction. Kelly. The Beta’s daughter, she was always presented like a solution. A perfect mat

CHAPTER FIVE – Back on the IceStella's POVI remained where I was long after Jaxon left the room.My eyes stayed fixed on the closed door, but my thoughts were somewhere else. His last words kept replaying inside my head."You never have to apologize for crying."A small smile appeared on my lips before disappearing again. No one had ever said something like that to me. Whenever I cried, people either laughed, ignored me, or told me I was being too sensitive, even Chase hated seeing me cry.He always said I was too emotional, he would sigh impatiently and tell me to stop making everything difficult.Somehow, I had convinced myself that he was right. Now I was not so sure anymore.I lowered my eyes to the tray sitting on the table. The bowl was almost empty, I had actually eaten. It was only a little, but it was more than I thought I could manage. For some reason, that felt like a small victory.I stood up slowly and carried the tray to the table near the window. The room felt strangely

CHAPTER SEVEN – WaitingStella's POVI looked at my phone for what felt like the tenth time.Twenty minutes. Jaxon had said he would only be a few minutes.I sighed softly and looked toward the arena entrance again."How long does it take to talk to a coach?" I muttered to myself.Players walked past me one after another, some carrying hockey bags over their shoulders while others laughed with their teammates.Every time the door opened, I lifted my head, hoping to see Jaxon.Every time, it was someone else, I shifted my weight from one foot to the other and smiled to myself. "I guess this is what waiting for an Alpha feels like."The thought made me laugh quietly. The smile was still on my face when I noticed someone staring at me.A young woman stood a few steps away with her phone in her hand. She looked from the screen… Then back at meHer eyes slowly widened. "Oh my ..."She whispered to the person beside her. "It's her."I frowned slightly. Her friend looked at the phone before

CHAPTER NINE – The Weight of My WordsJaxon's POVThe drive home was unusually quiet. The sound of the tires against the road filled the silence between us, but neither of us spoke, I kept my eyes on the road while my mind remained inside the arena.Kelly's slap, the crowd, the insults, the look on Stella's face when she lowered her head as though she had already accepted that she deserved every cruel word they threw at her. Then the words I had spoken. "She is my girlfriend."I had not planned them, I had not even thought about them. The moment I saw the red mark on her cheek, something inside me simply refused to remain silent. Beside me, Stella sat with both hands folded tightly in her lap.She had been unusually quiet ever since we left the arena. When we finally arrived at the pack house, I switched off the engine.Neither of us moved. For several long seconds, the silence remained. Finally, Stella opened the car door.We walked inside together, the house was peaceful. Most of t
