CHAPTER SEVEN

MY REBOUND

DOMINEERING HUSBAND

Chapter 7.

Olivia too had refused to step out of her room or even speak to Julie. She has been lying on the bed and staring at the ceiling for hours like they was something interesting happening there.

Even when Julie had come to serve her meal, Olivia asked her to leave, saying she wanted to be alone and doesn't have the appetite to eat.

She still couldn't believe that Joel could actually do that to her! Why would he get so mad just because she tried to find answers. What is so wrong in asking questions? What could have happened on the past that he doesn't want to let her know?

She hated the fact that she has to be in this condition. A condition where she has to beg for answers yet given more reason to doubt everything and everyone around.

He said they're married yet he isn't doing anything to ensure she gets better. There should have been memories of them but since she has been staying here, she hasn't seen anything that would remind her of her past. It's just as if she's leaving in a different place, far different from the one she must have known.

Earlier today, she had seen the beast in him. When he gripped her neck, he didn't look like the Joel who would look at her with so much love in his eyes but this time around, his eyes blazed with so much anger.

The sound of her door opening brought her out of her thoughts but she didn't bother to check who it was. She figured it might be Julie ~ It had to be her,, Joel wouldn't even think of coming into her room, not after what he did.

"Not now, Julie.. I told you I'm not in the mood to talk" She said in a low tone.

"Maybe you should try checking who it is first"

Olivia frown slightly then widened her eyes in shock and sprang up only to see the person she least expected to see ~ Joel. This time, he was back to being calm cos of the expression on his face. He was actually smiling down at her and holding a tray of food.

"My heartbeat!" He called, placing the food down and sitting on the bed - In front of her.

As if his presence horrified her, Olivia moved back and curled herself up beside the headboard. Why wouldn't she be terrified? When he almost chocked her to death a while back.

And, how dare him call her his heartbeat? The nerve of him to think he can just walk in here and act like nothing ever happened. To Olivia, she doesn't feel safe staying here anymore but what can she do. Apart from Joel, she doesn't know anyone she could run to.

Joel noticed this but decided to let her be. Besides, who wouldn't react this way after what he did. He didn't expect her not to get scared of him.

"Are you okay?" He asked again but she still didn't reply him. She only stared at him as if he had suddenly grown two horns on his head.

Joel sighed and tried to reach for her hands but she flinched back and hid her hands.

"Julie told me you've refused to eat anything since morning, is that true?"

Olivia scoffed loudly and folded her hands underneath her bóöbs and rolled her eyes. Why is he being so sweet to her now?

"I'm not hungry" She said "And leave! I don't want to see or talk to you. Seeing you alone reminds me of how you almost chocked me to death. You could have killed me!"

Those words stung Joel so deep into his heart cos they were true! In fact, it reminds him of what happened three years ago!.

"You shouldn't be starving yourself, my heartbeat. You know you just got out of the hospital and you still haven't recovered fully. You should eat so you can get better and stronger!".

"I said I'm not hungry, don't you get it? And leave, what are you still doing here?" She snapped at him.

"I know you're probably frightened because of what I did earlier and I'm truly sorry, My heartbeat. It wasn't in my intention to hurt you. Just that I got really mad by your persistence and you just wouldn't stop.." He paused and took a long deep breath, then continued.

"... I love you, Olivia and I wouldn't even think of hurting you. I just got out of my senses and I'm really sorry!. I love you so much, My heartbeat.. Please don't see me as a bad person cos I'm not!"

For a split second Olivia felt her heart melt at his words. He sounded really sincere and as she stared into his eyes, all she saw was sincerity. He was being sincere with her, that means he truly loved her like he claims.

"I'm not mad at you! I'm just pissed with the fact that you keep hiding things from me! Whenever I ask questions about my past, you get upset and then hurt me in the process".

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to happen" He apologized.

"I want to get better, Joel.. I can't continue leaving in the shadow myself! I don't even know if I'm actually where I'm supposed to be! I feel empty without my memories, Joel.. Don't you understand?"

Joel nodded slowly!.

"Put yourself in my place and then you'll understand how hard it is for me! I know I'll get my memories back with time, only if that is possible.. But right now, I need answers so I won't remain a dipstick!"

"What is it you want to know?" Joel asked making Olivia stare at him in shock. She wasn't expecting him to ask such. But is he really asking her that?.

"Are you really asking me that?" Olivia asked, making sure she heard him correctly.

"Yes!" He said with a nod. "Ask whatever it is you want to ask and I'll give you the answer you need but only in one condition"

Olivia narrowed her brows at his sudden request but anyways, who is she not to take such opportunity.

"Which is?" Olivia asked back.

"You're only permitted to ask just three questions and nothing more!"

Her frown deepened as she couldn't pinpoint why exactly he's so secretive about her past. How can he give her the condition of asking just three questions. That would not be enough to cover all the questions she's been meaning to ask.

"Why is that? But I have so many questions I want to ask"

Joel just shrugged. "It's a condition, so are you in or not?"

Olivia thought for a while and having no other alternative left, she nodded and agreed to his condition. Now she has to use this opportunity to ask the most relevant questions.

"How long have we been married?" She asked.

"We've been married for three years!!"

Olivia was short of words. They've been married for such a long time? She found it hard to believe.

"We've been married for such a long time yet I don't see anything that would actually stand as proof,, not even a photo to start with. So why aren't they pictures of us together?" Olivia asked again.

"You've always wanted a simple and quite wedding. You never wants the public to know about it. So we had it done, away from the flashed of light and even from the public. Know one knows we're married"

"What?" Was all that left Olivia's lips as she listened carefully to Joel.

How can a woman in her right frame of mind want a wedding away from the flashes of light and even from the public.

"I did everything you wanted, Olivia. And that is why you don't see any picture of us together" Joel added.

Does that at all sound really sincere? Olivia thought about it. Even though she wanted a quiet wedding, they must have been something to show it. Something that must tally with the memories of them together.

Olivia doesn't even know if she should believe him or not but anyways, she asked her third and last question.

"How did I get involved in a accident?"

She waited patiently for Joel's response but he wasn't reacting at a to her question. In fact, he was ignoring her.

"Did you hear me, Joel? I want to know how I got into an accident" Olivia asked again but instead of replying, Joel stood up and adjusted his cloth. Now, he has stopped smiling and puting on a cold face.

Olivia wondered how he can just change his attitude within a small period of time. This minute he's smiling, next minute he's frowning.

"Eat up or your food might get cold" Joel said.

Olivia scoffed loudly... " Great!! I knew it. I knew you were going to change the topic again!. You keep doing this Joel and I'm sick and tired of this. You know what, I've had it up to here..." She touched the top of her neck. " Since you're still not going to tell me then I'll leave because I can't continue leaving with a psychopath" She said and made to move towards the door but Joel held her wrist before she could do so.

"What did you just say?" He gritted out.

Olivia looked him in the eye and boldly repeated her previous words.

"I said you're a psychopath!!!"

Almost immediately, Joel raised his hands and landed a hard slap on her cheeks making her bite her lower lip in the process.

Olivia gasped and held her cheeks as hot tears filled her eyes.
