CHAPTER EIGHT

MY REBOUND

DOMINEERING HUSBAND

Chapter 8.

Joel stormed into his room and began to fling whatever object he could find. He let even the glass vase crash into pieces.

He brushed his fingers through his hair and groaned feeling really frustrated.

He stared at his hand, the same hand he used to hit her! It pained him to know that he actually slapped her across the face. and the tears he'd seen in her eyes, the way she looked at him... Everything replayed in his head.

He moved to the wall and began to punch it as hard as he could.

"Damn you, Joel!!!" He growled and continued punching the wall, ignoring the pain in he felt from his knuckles.

This was nothing compared to the pain he saw in her eyes a while back or how she must be feeling now. She must think of him as a monster now.

He loves her so much but he keeps hurting her! Why can't he just control his anger? He could have just ignored her words and simply walk away, rather, he let his anger take over!.

How would he bring himself to face her? He wouldn't be able to look her in the eyes.

He stopped punching the wall.. By this time, his knuckles were already bleeding slightly. He took out a bandage and slumped down weakly on the floor.

His eyes were red as a result of the tears rolling down his cheeks and his hair disheveled. He began to roll the bandage round his knuckles.

Maybe it's best if he leaves for some days. Yes! Maybe that would help calm the tension between them and he'll have to learn how to control his anger. He doesn't want to be an abusive husband, that's not who he is.

All he ever wanted was to treat her with love and protect her but now, he's going contrary to what he had initially planned.

Picking up his phone, he placed a call across to one of his guards.

"Get the car ready! We'll be leaving tonight!" He said in a hoarse voice and hung up.

Getting up, he picked up some few things and left the room. Stopping in front of Olivia's room, he thought of checking up on her but from where he stood, he could still hear her sobbing. She must still be really traumatized. The more he listened to her cries, the more hurt he becomes.

He sighed and moved towards the stairs. Stepping down and reaching the last stair, he met Julie at the leaving room, doing some cleaning.

"Julie!" He called.

"Master!"

"I'll be leaving you in charge of my wife. Keep an eye on her and don't let her do anything herself. You're here to provide her with everything she needs. I'll be leaving for a while, nothing should happen to her while I'm away if you don't want to incur my wrath. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, master!"

With that, Joel left the house. Maybe this is exactly what he needs, a short break.

••. ••. ••. ••.

Olivia sat in front of the mirror as Julie helped blow-dry her hair. She just finished having a bath. Her eyes looked swollen and red as a result of her not being able to sleep throughout last night.

Last night was the worst night ever for her! She couldn't believe she's living with someone as dangerous as Joel. How can he raise his hands on her for no just reason.

Is it a crime to ask questions? Why does she have to always get hurt. She doesn't feel safe around here anymore. Joel is two-faced, what if he does something even worse to her next time?

"Are you okay, ma'am Olivia?" Julie interrupted her thoughts.

Olivia sighed and stared at her reflection through the mirror. There were dark circles underneath her eyes and then her lips,, The cut on her lower lip was still visible and painful because it had already become a little bit swollen.

She touched the cut on her lips and closed her eyes as a result of the pain that surge through her body.

"Do I look okay to you, Julie?" She asked back. She wanted to hear Julie's opinion, maybe she's the one at fault. Maybe she's the one getting worked up over nothing.

"You look sad and I know something is bothering you!" Julie responded.

"Don't pretend as if you don't know what's going on, Julie! I know you're aware of what has been going on!"

"You're right, ma'am Olivia!" Julie said with a smile. She feels really bad for Olivia and wished she wasn't going through all of this. She's quite aware of everything that happened last night.

"He raised his hands on me, Julie. He fúçking slapped me. First he tried to strangle me and then this!! Was I so wrong to try to get back my memories? Was I so wrong to ask questions?.." She paused and sniffed as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"... Tell me Julie, I didn't to be alive without my memories! It would have been better if I'd died instead!"

"No don't say that, Olivia! You don't have to wish for death" Julie said.

Olivia shakes her head negatively.

"No! You don't get it. It isn't fun living a life without memories of your past. It's like I'm living a life based on assumptions. I keep on assuming that everything he says are true! But I can't help it. I feel as if there's more to what he told me.

I want to know everything that happened. What we both shared in the past and those I interacted with. I'm pretty sure I have families out there then why isn't he taking me to them? What is he hiding from me?"

Julie sighed loudly. She perfectly understands what Olivia is passing through. If only there was a way she could make Olivia feel better.

"I can't continue leaving here, Julie! I don't feel safe anymore!" Olivia added.

"I'm sure the master has his reasons for not telling you. I'm sure there must be a geniue reason. You just have to let it be and lye low for a while and I'm certain that with time, he'd open up to you.

... For the few months I've worked with the master, he doesn't let any lady get close to him like how he lets you close. I'm certain the master really loves you and that's why he wants things done for your own good. If he doesn't want to tell you anything about your past then I'm sure it's for your best. No harm but that's just my own opinion, ma'am Olivia"

Olivia remained silent reminiscing over what Julie just said. There was a little bit if truth in her words but she still isn't 100% sure if she should believe that what Joel is doing for her own best.

Maybe her persistence in knowing the truth is what is making Joel get upset. Maybe she should give sometime and then find out the truth herself.

Yes! She needs to find out exactly what happened and by this, she has to do it herself. This is her fight and she has to do it quietly, without Joel noticing any foul play.

But how? How is she going to succeed in this new plan of hers? She thought for a while and an idea suddenly struck her and it seems to be the best she could think off.

Joel says they're both married and for that reason,, she's going to play the role of his wife. Yes! She's going to stop asking questions about her past and focus non being the perfect wife for him.

Although she has no idea how long she's going to act but as long as it takes to find out the truth, she's going to keep being his wife.

Call her crazy,, but that's the only way she could think of right now. But first, she needs time to recover from everything and think over her plan.

"Do you want to eat something?" Julie asked after she was done drying Olivia's hair.

Olivia shakes her head and stood up and walked over to the bed.

"No, Julie.. I'm not hungry!" She said, lying down properly.

"But you haven't had anything to eat! Please, you should eat something. The master wouldn't like it when he finds out"

"Maybe later. As of now, I have no appetite. I just need to rest!" She said.

"If you say so, Ma'am Olivia. But if you need anything, don't hesitate to call on me. I'm always at your service!. I'll leave you to rest now" Julie said and moved towards the door.

"Julie!" Olivia called just as Julie was about to step out.

"Thank you, for being here for me!!" She said and Julie nodded with a smile before walking out.

Olivia was glad she had someone as Julie here with here! At least she has someone to always talk to. But for now, she has to think of ways to execute her new plan.
