When the front door opened, Renee ran to it. Jesse walked in, but he didn’t have Christian. Her breathing sped up and she felt like she was going to pass out. What had he done? He hadn’t taken off with Christian like he said he was going to, but had he actually hurt him? He hadn’t been gone that long. But, then again, it didn’t take long to do something to a small child.

Renee was packing Christian's bag to go out. She had started going out by herself more and more. This way he always knew where she was. She started out just window shopping. Then, she would go out for groceries. Today she was going to go to the library.
