Jane Jenkins (POV)

I can’t believe I am turning eighteen tomorrow. It has been two years since we moved to the pack, and two years since I have been in remission from my cancer. I have made friends with a few of the pack members and even my sister’s Gamma, Lucas. Even though since that night he told me he liked me and the night my dad threatened him he has backed off. I even saw him around with a lot of women. I only see him now at get-togethers and other functions. It hurt the first time I saw him with a she-wolf, and I cried. My sister helped to remind me that he is a wolf and could have a mate waiting out there for him.

Well, who knows now that I am turning eighteen, I just might find my mate. He could be anyone from school. I am a senior now and am due to graduate at the end of the school year. My family has planned a big party for me with almost all the school invited.

Speaking of family…My dad has gained his wolf and after he marked my mom she too has turned. I am the only one in my family that is still human. I have hopes though. After all, once I find my mate and he mates and marks me I could gain a wolf too. I am excited to get one.

My sister decided to have the party in the backyard of the packhouse as that is the largest place that could hold most all of the pack. As I said she and my folks have planned big.

It is nighttime and all is quiet in my parent’s home. I am too excited to sleep so I am laying here and thinking of tomorrow. I heard the ping of my phone and saw my best friend Glory had texted me.

Glory: Happy Birthday, girlfriend (Smile emoji)

I looked at the time on the phone and saw it was past midnight. Wow, am I that excited that I am still awake?

Me: Thanks, bestie.

Glory: Are you excited? I mean you might meet your mate tomorrow.

Me: I am and I am hoping I do.

Glory: Well, I am just about falling asleep here. I will let you go and see you tomorrow. I will help with getting you ready.

Me: I will see you early and we can go to the party together.

Glory: See you love you.

Me: Love you too. (Smiley)

I put my phone away curled up in bed and closed my eyes.

I must have fallen asleep as I woke to something tickling my nose. I swatted at it, but it just kept coming back. Then I heard a giggle and felt the tickle again. OK, what is it? I peeked my eyes open and jumped in surprise when a face was so close to mine. We bumped heads and that is what finally woke me up as I sat up and saw Glory sitting there rubbing her head.

“Glory. What the hell?” I exclaimed.

“I just wanted to surprise you.” She tells me as she scrunches her face as she continues rubbing her head.

I touched my head and flinched as it hurt to touch. “Ouch, you startled me.”

She chuckled, “I’m sorry. I came by to help you get ready for the day. You know you might find your mate.”

“I am not a werewolf. I wouldn’t know him as you would yours.” I reminded her.

“That is true, but you do carry the wolf gene so one never knows.”

I sighed, “Yeah, that would be nice.”

“So, girl. Get up and take a shower. I will pick out an outfit special for you to wear today.”

I giggled as I got off the bed and ran into my bathroom ensuite and began to strip down and take a shower.

Once done I came out in a towel and saw Glory standing holding a dress I had never seen before with a smile on her face.

“What’s this?” I asked puzzled.

“My present for you. I thought it about time you had a grown-up dress on your eighteenth birthday,” she said, still smiling at me.

It was a beautiful snug fitting off the shoulders in a royal blue. It looked shorter than what I would normally wear but not too short. “What shoes will go with it?” I asked, not noticing her hand behind her back.

“These…” she said pulling out royal blue satin pumps that had at least three-inch heels.

I put my hand to my mouth, “Oh, Glory, you should have.”

“Yes, but I did. My present to you. Now come on sit so we can dry and style your hair and then get make-up on before you put the dress on.” She guided me to my vanity and sat me down taking out my blow dryer and she began to dry my long hair. Once she was done, she took a curling iron and began to add waves to my hair with it combed to one side. Then I noticed a hairpiece in royal blue that she clipped onto my hair on the other side to hold it in place behind my ear.

Then she began my makeup and refused to let me look until she was done. When she was finished, she still would not allow me to see until I put on my bra, panties then the dress, and shoes. It was then that she turned me toward the full-length mirror, and I gasped at my image. I looked… “Wow,” was all I could say.

“I know. Right?” Glory says with a proud smile.

“I look so grown-up.”

“That is the whole idea.” She tells me as I keep looking at my image, turning this way and that.

The dress fit snugly and showed off my curves in all the right places. The shoes…well this is the first time I have worn heels so it will take a little getting used to.

I finally smile and turn toward Glory, “Thank you. I love it.” I exclaim pulling her in for a hug.

“I am glad you like it. Now my turn to get ready then we can go to the packhouse together.” It was then I noticed her dress on the bed with her accessories. I nodded and sat down while she dressed.

Once finished I was excited. The party was an all-day event beginning with a big breakfast. As I said, my family wanted this to be a big party. I guess they are still making up for all the ones I missed due to chemo and being sick.

Sad but we almost never made it to my eighteenth year. That was no thanks to Lari’s ex Carl who happened to have found out about werewolves and reported us to where a few of the pack members, along with others in other packs were experimented on and killed. It was Drake and Lari that saved the werewolves from extinction. Well, mostly the wolf of the Goddess who happens to be the same wolf given to my sister. Thank you, Skye, for saving the werewolf race. We are still unknown to humans as Skye was able to wipe the human scientists' minds once She and Cole saved the packs. So, to the Government and scientists, Carl was only a crazy man crying wolf to cause trouble. He is locked away for good on death row for a few murders as well as attempted murder on Lari. Good riddance to rubbish.

Now it was time for Glory and me to head over to the packhouse. I am so excited. I hope my mate knows me.

We got to the packhouse, and it was bustling with activity. People began to wish me a happy birthday and even hugged me. I guess it is one of the benefits of being a sister to the Luna. Speaking of…I see her heading my way with a huge smile and a hug. Then she backs away and looks at me. Are those tears in her eyes?

“You are so grown-up. Look at you. You are so beautiful.” She says hugging me again.

Glory steps in, “It was my birthday gift to Jane,” She sounded prideful.

“It is perfect, and it shows off all your curves,” Then she looks down, “Are those heels?”

I nodded and smiled at her.

“Also, a present from Moi,” Glory said pointing at herself.

I laughed at her use of the French word for me. Glory was always doing things like that. I just love my bestie.

I begin looking around and see Mom and Dad talking to Sarah, Alpha Drake’s mom. She is like a second mother to me. I just love my new pack family. I see Drake coming down the stairs talking with his Beta Wayne. It looks serious, I hope all is well. So far most of the students from school are here and I can’t help but not see Lucas around.

“Where is Lucas?” I asked my sister.

“I don’t know, he promised to be here.” She said frowning.

“I will go up and get him,” I volunteered.

“Alright. Tell him breakfast will be served soon. That will get him down.” Lari said as I turned and began to head to the Gamma floor up the stairs.

I get to the third floor and walk toward his room when I begin hearing noises coming from inside. His door was cracked open, and I peeked inside as I heard his grunts. I assumed he was doing some work out only what I saw shocked me. It was then I heard a woman’s moan, “Harder, faster, Lucas. I am almost there,” She was saying.

I saw him naked on top of her thrusting in and out of her. He turned his head as the floorboard creaked under my feet and as our eyes connected, I suddenly felt pain unlike any other I felt in my life. I grabbed my chest and doubled over crying out.

“Oh. Goddess.” I heard Lucas exclaim as the pain subsided. I peeked my eyes open, and he was out of her and off the bed.

“Lucas, What the hell? You didn’t finish.” The woman cried out before turning to see me standing there in shock. “Oh.” She said covering herself with the sheet. “Who the hell are you?” she demanded.

“My mate.” I heard Lucas say as he stood there naked staring at me with remorse in his eyes.

  • My Sister's Gamma   Chapter Twenty-Nine – Reckonings

Jane Jenkins (POV) Healing isn’t quiet. That’s what surprises me most. It isn’t just rest and sleep and fading pain—it’s memories surfacing at inconvenient moments, emotions crashing without warning, Aurora’s instincts flaring when my mind wants calm. Some mornings I wake up steady. Other days, my hands shake when I hear raised voices in the corridor. Lucas never leaves my side. He doesn’t hover, doesn’t smother. He simply is—a constant presence, a warm hand, a grounding heartbeat through the bond. When nightmares drag me under, he wakes me without a word, pulling me against him until the past loosens its grip. I’m sitting up now, wrapped in blankets, when Laria knocks softly before entering. “You look better,” she says gently, offering a small smile. “Stronger,” I correct. Her eyes soften. “Yes. You do.” She sits across from me, folding her hands in her lap. “The council will convene today. Drake asked if you wanted to attend.” My stomach tightens—but not with fear. “With

  • My Sister's Gamma   Chapter Twenty-Eight – After the Storm

Jane Jenkins (POV) Pain fades in strange ways. It doesn’t disappear all at once. It loosens its grip slowly, like fingers reluctantly letting go. The ache in my body dulls first, then the sharp sting in my head eases, leaving behind a heavy exhaustion that sinks into my bones. I wake to warmth. Not the cold cement. Not damp air and shadows. This warmth smells like pine, earth, and home. Lucas. My eyes flutter open, and for a moment, I’m afraid to move. Afraid this is another trick—another cruel illusion my mind has made to survive the dark. But then I feel his arm around me, solid and real, his chest rising and falling beneath my cheek. He’s here. I breathe him in and feel my chest tighten. “I’m awake,” I whisper, my voice hoarse. His body goes rigid instantly. “Jane?” His voice cracks as he lifts his head. His eyes—those steady, fierce eyes—search my face like he’s afraid I’ll vanish if he blinks. “Hey… easy. Don’t move too much.” I smile weakly. “You look terrible.” A

  • My Sister's Gamma   Chapter Twenty-Seven- The Rescue

Jane (POV) The silence in this place is the worst kind. Not peaceful. Not calm. It presses in on me, heavy and suffocating, broken only by the distant sound of boots on concrete or the scrape of a chair being dragged somewhere far away. I’ve learned to count time by those sounds, by how often the door opens, by how weak my body feels when I try to stand. My stomach aches constantly now, a dull, gnawing pain that never truly fades. My throat feels raw, like sandpaper, from thirst. Still, I refuse to beg them. I refuse to give them that satisfaction. I tighten my arms around my knees and rest my forehead against them, breathing slowly, carefully. Panic wastes energy. Fear drains strength. And I need every scrap of strength I have left. Lucas’s face flashes in my mind—his smile, his steady presence, the way his eyes soften when he looks at me like I’m his whole world. The bond between us hums faintly, muted but not gone. That alone tells me I’m still alive. Still fighting. He’s comi

  • My Sister's Gamma   Chapter Twenty-Six- Interrogation

Lucas (POV) The three of us get to the cells and pass by the guards who are watching over the prisoner. Drake had already linked a guard to have Diana moved to the interrogation room, so we three walked in. Diana was chained to a chair in the middle of the room, and as soon as she saw me, she smiled. “I knew you would come and get me out.” I only shook my head and glared at her. “Where is my mate?” I said through gritted teeth. She frowned, “What??” “You heard him. Where is Jane?” Drake crossed his arms over his chest. “I... I have no idea. Why would I know?” She began trying to sound innocent. “Why did you come to Lucas’s room?” Wayne added, “Was it because you knew he was under the influence of the drug you put into his coffee?” She frowned, “What drug? I only wanted to see if I could do anything to help.” “Dressed like that?” Wayne sneered, “And after you placed a drug into his coffee?” I have to admit that he is good. He is the one that Drake calls for jobs like this. H

  • My Sister's Gamma   Chapter Twenty-Five- Caught

Lucas (POV) I kept pacing and haven’t slept since Jane’s disappearance. I am not the only one, as her family is very concerned. Her father, along with Drake, had been helping me in my search for Jane. I can’t seem to stay put; I have to keep moving. I want to get my mate home with me. Drake also has his best trackers out there looking for any signs and answers on Jane’s disappearance. They are still out there searching. All I can do is pray to the goddess for her safety. The nights are the toughest. I can’t sleep, so I stand at the window of our suite and wonder where my beautiful mate is and what could be happening to her. Thank the Goddess, I don’t feel any betrayal pains, so I know she is not being sexually assaulted. I want to kill the bastards who took my mate. The waiting is driving me mad. I gave up trying to sleep and went downstairs for breakfast. Drake and the family were already there. They all looked as bad as I felt. I got coffee and something to eat to keep my stren

  • My Sister's Gamma   Chapter Twenty-Four- Creepy

Jane Jenkins (POV) It’s dark, and my head hurts. I groan and try to open my eyes, but they feel too heavy. I am not on a bed, and it feels like damp, cold, cemented ground. Where am I and what happened? I slowly opened my eyes, and for a moment, I thought I had gone blind when I realized it was because of no windows and how dark this place is. Just where am I? ‘Aurora?’ I called my wolf. She doesn’t respond, and I can’t even feel her. I frowned as I sat up and leaned against the wall. What happened? Where is my wolf? I searched my memory and remembered about wolfbane. The effect is that it puts your wolf to sleep. That must be what happened. I must have been injected with wolfbane. That would explain why I can’t feel my wolf. She is asleep. Why am I here? What do they want with me? The last thing I knew, I was to meet up with Glory as she had something exciting to tell me. Could it have been a trap? Come to think of it... Glory would have messaged me through the mind-link to m
