CHAPTER 5

Helena has been comatose for four months, and Roseanna has been wondering where her mother has gone, but everyone has told her that her mother is on a trip and cannot return home yet. Fortunately, Roseanna believes it.

"Rose? Wanna go out with dad?" Edward inquired of Roseanna, who lay on her bed.

"Where?" she inquired.

"We'll go to mommy," Edward replied, making Roseanna smile.

"Really? Little girls are allowed in there?" she inquired once more, Edward sighed.

"Yes, baby. We'll just see your mom and nothing else, so it's fine," Edward tried to console the poor child.

"Yey! Okay. Okay, I'll get ready," she says as she rushes to her dressing room.

While waiting downstairs, Edward receives a phone call from the hospital.

"Yes?" he inquired as he answered the phone.

"She's... dead I'm sorry Mr. Stone We did everything we could but her heart just stopped beating and her brain stopped responding all of a sudden"- the doctor sighed, and so he is.

"Don't worry, Dr. Arnault, we can't help but accept the fact that she now left us"

"How is Helena's daughter?" Dr. Arnault inquired, concerned.

"She's fine; I'll try to explain it to her later; she'll realize, she's a smart girl."

"I hope so, Mr. Stone; I'll hang up now."

"Daddy? I'm ready, let's go," Roseanna said, smiling.

"Roseanna baby, listen to daddy okay? Your mommy Helena is sleeping peacefully right now, let's not disturb her okay?"

"She's sleeping again? Mommy's always sleeping these days," she innocently observed.

"Baby, listen, mommy isn't going to wake up again, and I need you, my smart girl, to understand mommy, okay?"

"Mommy is dead?" Roseanna inquired before breaking down in tears.

"Hush now, baby. Listen to daddy," he tells her, "mommy wants you to be strong."

"No, you're lying; Mommy is just sleeping," she exclaimed loudly before sobbing on the couch.

"Dad? What's going on? Why is she crying?" Aideen asked as she entered the house and walked towards them.

"Helena is dead, and she refuses to accept it," Edward sighed, unable to stop Roseanna from crying.

"I said my mommy Helena was just sleeping," she exclaimed again. Aideen sighed and approached the little girl with caution.

"Please understand, Roseanna, don't give yourself a heavy heart"- Roseanna sobs as she looks at Aideen.

"I won't believe them! My mom is just sleeping," she said as she ran upstairs.

____

Days have passed and Roseanna still refuses to accept that her mother is no longer alive.

"Shhhh. My mommy is sleeping. Don't make any noise," she said, glaring at the intruder.

She was like that when she didn't want any noise because she was afraid her mommy would wake up from being a sleeping beauty, which she didn't want.

Today is Helena's funeral, and Roseanna was standing next to her Aunt Allison, beside her mother's coffin, which was being buried underground,

"Bye-bye my sleeping beauty mommy, I'll wake you up if your prince comes"- Roseanna said, waving at the ground. Those watching Roseanna felt sadness for her, and some even cried when they heard her speak.

"I'm going to take Roseanna with me," she said to the stone family. Then Allison said to Roseanna, "Let's go Roseanna Aunt will bring you with me," and they walked to her car.

EDWARD IS FRUSTRATED AT THE STONES MANSION.

"I NEED TO BRING ROSEANNA BACK HERE!" he exclaimed to his lawyer.

"If possible, we can declare your paternity to Roseanna"- Atty. Dalton

"I think we should stop it, dad," Aideen says as he raises his hand, holding an envelope and a notebook.

"What do you mean?" Edward raised an eyebrow, "what is that?" Aideen sat in the chair beside his father.

"It's Helena's notebook; I read it months ago; the truths are in here," he explained as he handed the notebook to his father.

"She had been writing letters for Raphael," Edward said quietly.

"And this," Aideen said as he handed the envelope to his father.

Edward gasps in surprise as he opens the envelope. Veronica was taken aback when she took the piece of paper.

"How dare she deceive you?" exclaimed Veronica, "that's what you get for cheating again and again."

"She didn't stop it mom; she wrote that in her letter," Aideen says.

"Urgh! Whatever," his mother Veronica said as she walked away.

Aideen turns to face his father.

"That will probably be a reason for you to stop bullshitting our lives, dad," Aideen says.

"Words Aideen, I'm your father"- His father warned him, but Aideen simply shrugged and went upstairs. Edward exhaled a sigh.

ROSEANNA VISITS EACH CORNER OF HER AUNT'S HOME.

It is enormous. The house is located behind the bar.

'This house is bigger than Dad's house,' she thought as the door to her room opened and revealed her Aunt.

"Hey little lady, I bring a glass of milk," Allison said as she handed Roseanna the glass of milk.

"Thank you," Roseanna said after drinking the milk.

"You really look like your mother Roseanna, you have your mother's face"- Allison then touches Roseanna's head

"Really? Do I look like my daddy?" Roseanna, the little girl, inquired, hoping for a positive answer.

"Your face resembles your mother, honey; nothing resembles your father," Allison smiled.

"Yeah, everyone says that," Roseanna said, sadly.

"Don't worry, he's still your father; you should sleep now," Allison said as she helped Roseanna get ready for bed and sat beside her.

"Please read me a story; Mother used to read me stories before I went to bed," Roseanna said, remembering her mother.

Allison felt sad for her because she understood how she felt, and she knows how deep the wound is because she had just lost her best friend and other half. Roseanna continues to keep her mother in her every word, which makes her even sadder.

"Okay honey, Aunt isn't very good with stories and I do not have any books just yet but don't worry Aunt will buy many books tomorrow, so how about I sing you a lullaby?" she said before hugging the little girl.

"Yes, please," Roseanna replied, nodding.

"Okay, I will bring you to my whole place tomorrow, okay?" Roseanna kept nodding, so Allison began singing a lullaby.
