Chapter 7

Reyna Andrews •

"Good morning Varien," I answer, looking down at him as he laid on a small, blue, baby crib.

"Gagguu!!" He replies, giggling up at me with his blue eyes. Staring up at me with his little arms, reaching out for me.

"Aww. Aren't you adorable?" I said, gently picking him up into my arms. Carefully taking him downstairs to the kitchen for breakfast.

"Good morning Janet," I said, entering the kitchen as she makes eggs and bacon.

I love bacon!

"Good morning sweety. How's Varien?" She asks me, looking at Varian with a soft smile.

"He's doing great," I reply, smiling at him as he looks at the breakfast.

Sitting Varien into his baby breakfast table, cautiously settling him down from my arms.

As I put him down, and plate plates for our family table. I quickly sat down at my spot before Jennifer wins again.

"Oh! I almost forgot, remember I told you about sweet adoption?" Jannet asks me, filling up a plate with breakfast for us.

"Bacon?!" Cries Jennifer running into the kitchen and sat on the kitchen table in her spot.

"Yeah," I ask, giggling at Jennifer as she starts guggling bacon and eggs into her mouth.

"Well, I told my son if he could roll you in. And he said yes." She explains, smiling at me as she sits next to me.

My plate filled with food. Something new every day, plus Varien seems happy with bacon too.

I nodded smiling. "That's great news, Janet!" Answering as I cut Varien's bacon into small pieces for him to chew on.

"And I know Varien is just 1 year old and you'll be busy. But I could take care of him if you want?" She explains with a question, looking at Varien who gives Janet a soft smile and spark in his eyes.

As if he's saying 'I love you, Grandma'.

"Sure. This adorable puppy gotta stay safe." I reply chuckling at Varien, patting his small head. "And when do I get to meet your son?" I ask her.

"Oh, you already met him yesterday." She says, taking her fork to eat her breakfast.

"Ohhhh. I never got his name though." I answer, getting mine too.

I can't wait to eat her famous maple syrup bacon with egg and ketchup omelet. Plus white milk or orange juice for preference.

"His name is Adrian, 22 years old, and works at his small company to find homes for animals." She tells, taking a bite of her food as I nodded from yesterday's event.

"Ah okay. Well, how did you convince him?" I ask her in confusion, thinking of our first awkward meeting.

"Backup plan." She replies, smirking with a glint in her eyes

I giggle at her.

She's a strong lady.

"Well, can I talk to him? About questions about the work and pay?"

"Sure, he'll be coming tonight from work. And don't worry backup plan #2." She says, giggling with a soft smile.

She may look innocent, but she's amazing.

We both laugh.

I just hope he'll accept me...

"So Reyna, why do you think you clarify to work with me?" Adrian asks as we both sat in his office.

It was the afternoon already.

"Uh well, I have experience with animals," I answer, unsure if I could do this right since I've never had a job interview but doing chores.

True fact; living in a dark forest you'll learn to respect other creatures. Not to mess up the food chain, to be honest.

"Anything else you wanna know or ask?" He asks me, taking notes on his computer.

"How much do you pay?" I ask him, wondering.

I need money to buy a home for me and Varien. Afford food, clothes, and a roof. You know, stuff what we really need.

"About 80 dollars per hour, since we deal with wolves often these days." He explains, looking back at me.

I shiver.

Wolves...why wolves?

"You're okay?" He asks, looking at me with worried. His eyes filled with uncertainty at my feared behavior.

"Uh yeah. I just hate wolves."
