Chapter 2

Author: Full Luck Mode
My experience from my first two lives had taught me one thing: Bryce was never the gentle, harmless senior he appeared to be.

The calmer he seemed, the worse the storm that followed.

Before I could think it through, hushed voices rose nearby, deliberately lowered, but not enough to keep me from hearing.

"Did you see that? Bryce didn't even bring her water today. He must be furious."

"He's been chasing her for almost half a month. He saves her a seat and brings her water every single day. Then she turns around and calls some guy who plays games her boyfriend. Who wouldn't feel hurt?"

"I bet she did it on purpose. She's playing hard to get, trying to keep him on a leash."

"That's a messed-up way to humiliate someone. She went too far."

Their words stabbed like needles, and my back went rigid.

I gripped the strap of my backpack, forced myself to sit down, and pulled out my books. But I couldn't focus on a single word.

I wanted to explain, but what could I possibly say? That Bryce had kidnapped and killed me in my first two lives? That he looked gentle and refined but was actually a psychopath?

No one would believe me. They would only think the stress of the exam had driven me insane.

I endured until the library closed for the night, then fled back to the dorm with my books clutched in my arms.

I pushed open the door and found Amanda Listwood sitting in a chair with a black face mask on, her legs crossed as she scrolled through her phone.

The moment she saw me, she shot upright, and the mask wrinkled across her face. "You're finally back! Are you out of your mind?"

She launched straight into it. "Bryce has everything going for him. He's handsome, he gets good grades, and I heard he's even on the student council. He saves you a seat and brings you water every day, and you can't even appreciate it. You had to drag some random gamer into this and use him as a shield?"

I tossed my books onto the desk, too exhausted to argue. "There's no possibility of anything happening between Bryce and me."

"What do you mean, no possibility?" Amanda ripped off her mask, frustration written all over her face. "The whole floor is saying you're playing hard to get, keeping him as a backup, and that you publicly humiliated him with some random guy."

"Some random guy?" I let out an angry laugh. "I said one thing without thinking. How does that make him some random guy?"

Amanda shoved her phone in my face. "And you're still talking back!"

The floor's group chat filled the screen, with dozens of messages about what had happened in the study room that day.

[That grad exam girl on the third floor is really full of herself.]

[Bryce is such a good guy, and she treats him like garbage!]

[I think she was playing hard to get, and it backfired.]

I stared at the messages, and my fingers went cold. "They don't know anything. How can they say that?"

Amanda pulled her phone back. "They're going by what they saw with their own eyes! Bryce brings you water every day, and everyone in the study room sees him do it.

"Then you turn around and call some stranger your boyfriend. Who wouldn't think you're playing him?

"Listen to me. Go apologize to him right now. There's still a chance to fix this."

Apologize? I'd have to be out of my mind.

I turned my back on her and said nothing.

The next day, I deliberately arrived at the study room half an hour early, hoping to avoid Bryce. But less than ten minutes after I sat down, at exactly ten in the morning, Bryce walked over.

He still carried the little bear thermos. He didn't look at me or say a word. He simply set it on the corner of my desk with a soft thud, then turned and walked away. Not once did he meet my eyes.

I stared at the thermos as my entire body tensed. He hadn't taken it back like he had yesterday, nor had he said a single word to me. He had just set it down and left?

Before I could make sense of it, a soft gasp came from somewhere behind me.

"God, he's so devoted. Even after being humiliated like that, he still brings her water."

"Is this what they mean by a simp? It hurts just to watch."

"Some people just don't know a good thing when they see it..."

  • My Stalker's Thermos   Chapter 10

The group chat went dead silent. Not a single emoji appeared after that.Three minutes later, Amanda posted from her main account: [Sorry, I misunderstood.]Then she immediately left the group. That same afternoon, she packed her things and moved to another dorm. She never spoke to me again.By then, word of her rumor-spreading had circulated throughout the class, and no one wanted anything to do with her anymore. I occasionally ran into her in the academic building after that, but she always lowered her head and went out of her way to avoid me.I did not feel any satisfaction. I just found the whole thing pointless. Some people's malice never needed a reason. Fighting against it only wasted your own time. After I moved in with Walter, my study efficiency actually improved. I got up at 7:00 a.m. every morning and returned by 10:00 p.m. every night, rotating between the same three places day after day. My days were simple but full.Every so often, I would glance over and see him

The two of them shut their mouths at once, lowered their heads, and shrank back."You're lying!" The old woman's eyes widened, and she lunged at me again. "My son told me himself that he spent so much money buying you things! You ungrateful girl! You got my son in trouble, and now you're not getting off easy either!""Whether I'm lying or not, you know better than anyone." Walter let out a cold laugh, pulled out his phone, and opened a recording. "This is a recording of your call with Bryce. You told him to hurry up and bring her back, hold the wedding party before the end of the year, and get her ID so she couldn't run away. Want me to play it for everyone here?"The old woman's wailing stopped instantly. She sat frozen on the ground for two seconds before starting up again. "You were eavesdropping on our calls! That's illegal!"Walter's expression remained flat. "This recording was obtained by the police through legal channels. Your son wasn't just planning to abduct someone him

The video showed everything with perfect clarity. Kalvin and the other two had deliberately blocked my path and surrounded me with taunts. When Bryce grabbed my wrist, my whole body was shaking. It was nothing close to some "couple's spat."At the end, he had also posted a recording of a phone call between Kalvin and a friend.Without a shred of shame, Kalvin said, "We just need to force her to back down. Once Bryce gets her locked in, let's see if she keeps acting all high and mighty."The moment the post went up, the comments flipped completely.[What the hell? This guy's a straight-up psycho. Going through her bag and photocopying her student ID? What was he planning to do with that?][So all three roommates were in on it? Ganging up to force a girl into submission?][Whoever called it a honey trap better come back and apologize. Does your face hurt from that slap?][The more you think about it, the creepier it gets. Photocopying a student ID? Was he planning to forge documen

Amanda's face instantly flushed red. She opened her mouth. "How was I supposed to know the truth? Besides, he always acted so decent. Who could have guessed he was that kind of person?"She paused, then muttered, "And anyway, he didn't actually do anything to you. Going straight to the police and getting him arrested... isn't that a bit much? We're all classmates here. We're bound to run into each other...""A bit much?" I let out a cold laugh. "Wait until he drags me into the mountains and locks me up. Wait until I'm trapped on those few acres of land for the rest of my life. Then come tell me if it's too much."Amanda had nothing to say to that. Her face shifted between pale and flushed. Finally, she dropped into her chair and huffed. "Fine, you're right. You're clearly too clever for the rest of us. We ordinary people just can't understand your moves."I didn't bother responding.Different paths, no common ground. I used to think Amanda was just a little gossipy and a little t

I stood frozen, the chill of the thermos still lingering on my fingertips. My heart hammered for a long moment before it finally began to settle.Walter reached out and patted my back, his voice low. "It's over now, Whitney."The murmurs around us surged like a tide. The same people who had pointed at me and judged me moments ago now stared with completely different expressions. Shock, embarrassment, and more than a little discomfort filled their faces.I glanced to the side. The two girls in matching pink hoodies fumbled to stuff their books into their bags. They kept their heads bowed and didn't dare look my way. They were the same girls who had called me a snake and accused me of being ungrateful just days ago, loud enough for half the study room to hear.I looked away. I had no intention of settling the score with them. But just because I didn't want trouble didn't mean trouble would leave me alone. The two of them shuffled toward the door with their bags clutched tightly in

The screen displayed a still from the security camera. In high definition, Bryce stood at my desk in the study room and twisted open the lid of my thermos. He held a small packet of white powder between his fingers and poured its contents into the cup.The angle was clear. His actions were unmistakable.Everyone erupted at once."What the hell? What is that?""He spilled it? Bryce actually put something in her drink?""Oh my God, and here I thought he was devoted...""That's terrifying! He brought her water every day, and he was lacing it?"The murmurs quickly swelled into a roar. The color drained from Bryce's face.He shot to his feet and pointed at the screen, his voice cracking. "Those are vitamins! Just plain vitamin powder! I was worried all the exam prep was wearing her down, so I wanted to help her recover!""Worried?" I let out a cold laugh and stared at him. "If you're worried about someone, do you sneak something into their drink when they're not looking? Do you d
