Chapter 118 : I'll Protect Her

Atlas' POV

I watched Uncle Edwin, who took a deep breath and released it heavily, then brought himself closer to lean towards me. "If Elsie's father is a witch, then why she left Eslie, Atlas, is clear." Uncle Edwin put the photo back in his pocket.

There was a reason for her father to leave Eslie. I'm not sure it was the right move. Leaving Eslie with a woman who couldn't take good care of her was even an option.

"I saw what that girl's life was like, uncle, and I'm not sure that her father did the right thing by abandoning her." I opposed that reasoning.

But Uncle Edwin seemed to agree more with what Elsie's father did. She confronted me. "You don't know what Atlas thinks and how far his decision will go. As an adult, I agreed with what he did, even though there might be some people who were greatly harmed by his choice. But it was right. It was right when that man left Eslie as soon as she was born because if he had stayed there, then Elsie would have been in danger."
