Knight’s POV

It’s been three years since my stepsister was kidnapped right from under our very noses.

Three years since I last saw her. Since I smelt her. Since I touched her. Since I claimed that body that belonged to me. Since I rejected her…

I’ve lived every day since then in regret and longing. A yearning that ate deep into my being and corrupted its function. I should have told her the truth. Maybe things would have worked out?

Or maybe…I should have stayed away from Jade the moment I knew who she was. It was that night I walked into a bar and heard it loud and clear. MATE. The night my wolf howled the loudest for the touch of a woman. The night a charming redhead snapped the mate bond in place with an unexpected kiss that sent me reeling.

I've wondered about the Moon Goddess’ sick sense of humor ever since. Setting me up in a fated mate bond with my human stepsister. Making me crazy about her at first sight. Making me go mad for her scent.

Then letting her get snatched up and whisked away by some mystery man who proposed marriage without seeking the consent of her family!

I’ve searched everywhere in North America since then. Even beyond.

But it seems I'd lost Jade forever.

She did not deserve a man like me. A cowardly and selfish prick who'd rather face his own problems that tend to a mate bond.

Nevertheless, she had been my stepsister. I should have protected her. Instead I claimed her like an animal, cast her aside right after. I watched the entire Morningstar Group humiliate her. I watched her father throw her to the dogs beneath her. I watched them tear her apart.

My wolf had itched to spring forth and dash to her rescue. To rip everyone apart who ever hurts her, who yells at her, who ever makes her feel small.

But the painful, heartbreaking, selfish truth was… I could not.

I stood by and watched because I wanted to buy the favor of Jaxon Morningstar. A business marriage to Camille Graves to merge the Morningstar Group with Graves Corporation. A one-way ticket to a CEO position and a spot at the werewolf council of North America.

As a rogue Alpha who leads a pack of rogue, untamed wolves, I was banned from the council.

But as the CEO of Morningstar and the husband of Camille Graves, I would stand a chance of reentry. And I was ready to kill for that chance because it was a lifelong dream of mine. Reclaiming the glory of my family in the Ashvane pack. The pack where we belonged before we were cast out like dogs.

I was ready to ignore everything else for that dream.

Until Jade disappeared and it all lost its meaning.

Three years. I have everything I've ever wanted. The wealth. The fame.

Everything except her.

And it breaks me in ways only the Moon Goddess can explain.

A nudge from across the backseat of the Escalade pulls me back to the present. The ever gorgeous Camille Graves sits there with a sophisticated smile, observing me.

“So, this new Lycan. Ever met him?”

I adjust my tie as I meet her gaze. “The man is from the other side of North America. I could not have met him.”

She cocks a brow. “You sure?”

“I would remember if I met a Lycan wolf, Camille.” Irritated, I lean forward and tower above her. “Listen, we have to be on our best behavior tonight.”

Camille used to be a well-behaved wolf, but after the several trials and failures to receive the Moon Goddess’ blessing of the fruit of the womb, she has become something of a bitter, badly behaved wolf.

However, I won’t have her ruin an opportunity we've long awaited.

“This is our chance to get on the good side of a Lycan wolf. They're more powerful. More influential. Remember? It would do us a lot of good to have one on our side.”

“I know, I know,” she murmurs, waving her hand dismissively. “Whatever.”

I sit back a little uncomfortably and watch her for the rest of the ride.

In less than fifteen minutes, we arrive at the multi-billion dollar complex where the 10th Lycan recognition ceremony of North America is being held.

Camille and I alight and stick together, moving across marble floors and hallways, amidst a throng of wealthy Alphas, Lunas, and elders of the werewolf society.

I take several deep, silent breaths, careful to not let Camille see my discomfort. For some reason, I feel nervous and out of place. Maybe it's because I was once a rogue Alpha who climbed his way to the top and got a seat for myself amongst the dignified ones.

Whispers still ring behind my back whenever I step in a room full of werewolves who can sense what I am.

‘The outcast’. ‘The ridiculed’.

These brands cling to my skin like glue. It does not matter how much wealth and power I slather on. I would remain the dirty rogue Alpha.

We find our table and shortly after we take our seats, the ceremony kicks off.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it's my pleasure to welcome you to the 10th Lycan Recognition ceremony!” The host begins in a cheery voice. “Tonight, we have with us just one newly awakened Lycan blood wolf. And every personality in the building is expected to honor this powerful awakening by paying direct homage to the Lycan wolf and his Consort. The elders will go right after the Alphas and Lunas.”

Murmurs rise in the hall as the guests begin to look around in search of the icons of the night.

A curtain on the stage slides open to reveal silhouettes of a man and woman perched on high, throne-like seats. A collective gasp echoes in the hall as we all behold the captivating aura of the couple on stage.

“What an entrance! Is it them?” Camille questions. “The Lycan and his Consort?”

“Apparently.”

We watch as Alphas and their Lunas rise one after the other to the stage to pay their homage. The encounters are brief, but each party returns with rapturous looks.

Soon, Camille and I make our way to the stage to pay our homage. The closer we approach, the heavier the feeling that sits on my chest.

Something is coming. I can feel it in my bones.

The host ushers us forward with a grin. “Behold the Lycan, Soren Malakai, and his Consort, Jade.”

The first thing I see the moment we step into view, is her red hair, beautiful like the sky at dawn. Then I see the pale blue eyes. And my breath disappears down my lungs.

My long lost stepsister, my fated mate, on the arm of a man who was once like a brother to me.

JADESomething unstoppable takes over my being as I turn my back on Knight and Lancelot, ignoring Knight’s voice of persuasion.”“Let me handle this, Jade. Take Lance and go get the cops.”I really appreciate Knight being here, but he should understand by now that I’m capable of taking care of things myself. Even if he doesn’t understand fully, he should understand to some extent. It would have been a hassle to take care of this problem if he wasn’t here, that’s why I appreciate his presence. I don’t have to worry about my son right now, because I know he’s in safe hands. All I have to worry about…all I have my mind set upon…is catching the scoundrels who somehow took my son from his art class, bypassed security and brought him all the way to the subway. Why did they do it? It’s what I’m about to find out as I break into a race towards the black Land Rover. I just know whoever is in that vehicle has something to do with my son missing from school…I just know it, because I felt it

  • My Stepbrother's Fated Nemesis   MESS WITH MY SON, YOU DIE!

Zara felt the heat creeping to her cheeks and almost slapped herself. This ridiculously good looking man had only made an offhand comment about her eyes, and she was blushing about it? The awkward chuckle that escaped her lips didn’t help matters either. Noah stopped in his tracks, looking at her inquisitively. “What?” she queried, squeezing her palms nervously behind her back. “Well, uhm, I believe I should be asking you.. don’t you think?” “I complimented you, and you laughed. I want to know if my compliment sounded funny.” “What? No,” Zara replied, laughing. “I-I-I’m sorry I laughed. It just kind of, fell out of my lips before I could stop myself. Noah just stared at her, a blank expression on his face as she explained. “Well, thank you,” Zara managed, when she saw her explanation wasn’t doing much good to salvage the awkward situation. “For the compliment,” she added. Noah nodded and started to walk off again.“Can I at least buy you a drink?” Zara called out

  • My Stepbrother's Fated Nemesis   MISSING

KNIGHTI’m just getting off a construction site with Kim Sehun, CEO of Morningstar’s construction firm, when a sharp pain zaps across my chest. It takes me by complete surprise and brings me to halt. I clutch my chest as the pain seeps straight to my head and bleeds through my vision. “Sir, are you okay?” I hear Kim Sehun’s voice, but I can’t be bothered to respond, even if I can, I wouldn’t. My entire nervous system feels wired with buzzing, painful electricity. I know what this is. A signal that something is up with Jade, my mate. The mate bond is so magical that it connects the people involved, like two peas in a pod. Especially when it’s consummated like ours. Especially when it returns a second time stronger. Everything I feel, she feels. And everything she feels, I feel. We’re connected in more ways than one. But it’s not always heightened like this. The only thing that triggers the mate bond and results in a feeling this strong, is danger. It’s just the way it was designe

  • My Stepbrother's Fated Nemesis   THE TEST

JADE I stare at the wrapped object in Ms. Winters’ hand, stunned to the marrow of my bone. Oh God. This is actually real. The name Silvercrest…so, so cool. And they have a blade to go with the whole hunter vibe? Wow. I reach out my hands to take it, and Ms. Winters lifts it above her head. “But you have to promise me one thing.” I swallow a lump down, unsure if I’m in the position to make promises. “What?” “You’ll train with me for a few minutes before you leave today. I want to show you what you’re capable of.” Another quick glance at my wristwatch, and I’m nodding in agreement. “Just hand me that, will you?” A satisfactory smile tugs at the corners of her lips as she hands it over to me. I unwrap it to find an object that looks very ancient and beautiful, it takes my breath away. The steel has darkened like storm clouds, but it still appears captivating. Maybe it’s the tiny scratches that cover its entire surface. The grip is wrapped in fine leather, and right in its m

  • My Stepbrother's Fated Nemesis   THE HUNTER’S BLADE

JADE Ms. Winters doesn’t seem interested in stopping anytime soon. She just keeps the surprise coming. So I fold my arms over my chest and lean against the desk. “So, are you going somewhere or what?” She shrugs. “I guess you could call it that. So it’s very important that I pass on the knowledge I have before I’m gone.” Her voice shakes on the last few words, and I can’t help but wonder where she’ll be going. I want to ask, but at the same time, I don’t want to pry. Because she seems like she doesn’t want that as well. “So, let’s assume I’ll be getting along with this. How exactly are you supposed to train me?” I keep my wary gaze on her face to catch even the tiniest bit of reaction. “Are you also a hunter?” “No, but I was your mother’s guide.” “Best friend or guide, I’m confused?” She flashes me a smile over her shoulder. “We somehow became both, which are dependent on each other. I didn’t want to become her guide because she was the most stubborn human I’d eve

  • My Stepbrother's Fated Nemesis   THE TRAINER

JADE No one else can know about it? I hold my breath, eager to hear the juicy details of whatever has brought Ms. Winters all the way to my office today. My throat feels so dry and patchy, the emotional state of my mind transcending to the physical. “I’m listening.” Ms. Winters seems to hesitate as she holds my gaze. She looks like she’s contemplating whether this is the right thing to do, or not. “Your mother was…” she pauses, as if searching for the right word, “Sabrina was special.” I can’t argue with her. I know it deep in my bones, because my mother used to be the love of my life. “And so are you,” Ms. Winters declared quietly, her eyes softly burning into mine. “You’re just as special as she was, maybe more.” I blink at her. “What do you mean?” “Sabrina was the last descendant of a very powerful and strong bloodline. Then she had you.” “Powerful and strong bloodline? What are you talking about?” Ms. Winters inhales deeply, then she walks over to one of the painting
