~Zane

I woke up in the hospital. I could hear voices, more like whispers, that sounded like they didn’t want to wake me up.

I tried opening my eyes but it felt so heavy, so I pushed myself, fluttering my eyes open and the lights attacked me. I groaned in pain and quickly closed it back.

“He is awake!” I heard Leonora’s voice, and the light became dimmer.

“Water,” I croaked. My throat was so parched, I needed water badly. I turned to the side and saw my beautiful Nivea. She held up a glass of water to me, a straw in it. I sipped it greedily.

“How long have I been out for?” I asked.

“Just a week,” Nivea said in a low voice, as she sat on the chair close to me.

“A week!”, I shot up but there were different machines attached to my body so I couldn't sit up fully.

“Slow down Zane,” she warned.

“What about the case? Was Thomas caught?” he couldn’t have escaped after all the work I and Steve put into getting the evidence.
