CHAPTER 37 - Something like a break up

KYLIE’s POV

My mind raced with every possible way I could get out of going on a walk with him, and after taking too long to reply, he tilted his head to the side.

“Is that a no?”

I wanted to say “yes” indeed, it was a no. But I couldn’t bring myself to do so.

“It’s not. I’ll go on a walk with you.” I conceded because, in the end, I didn’t have a reason to tell him No. There was also a part of me that genuinely wanted to hear what he had to say.

The evening air wrapped around us like a cool hug, while my mind raced with every possible thought of what he might have to say. Could it be that he had finally discovered I was not his mate? Was this his way of trying to let me down softly? Would this be his goodbye? And just what was I going to do with myself if he decided to leave me?

I mean, sure we were not on good terms, and maybe I didn’t know how we could ever get better, but I didn’t exactly want him gone. That would be so sad.
