JASON's POV

I had been going over it again and again in my head. At first, all had seemed well after the fight with Raul's pack. But it didn't sit well with me that they had all gone silent.

Which only meant that they were somewhere plotting and planning a comeback. A kind of revenge for losing their Alpha.

Elijah and the rest of us were not in the clear. Especially not Kylie.

The old Victorian house seemed abandoned on my arrival. There was no blood from the last battle, so that meant someone had cleaned up.

But aside from that, the place was pretty much untouched.

But that was outside.

Inside the house was a whole different situation, because for a house that seemed empty, it was ripe with fresh scents, that told me someone was there.

"odd," I whispered when I bent low and saw some foot marks on the ground. And it was fresh too. It indicated movements.
