登入Jacqueline's POV
Who could that be? We… I wasn't expecting anyone. I don't know about Alex.
He went to get the door. Two women walked in. One a little older than me, and the other should be around my age.
The older woman was dressed in a shirt and skirt, while the younger one was dressed in a plain top and jean trousers that hugged her curves tightly. Her hair-do and make-up seemed too flashy. I have a feeling she has an ulterior motive.
"Sign," Alex reminded me. I turned to him.
I took the document from him and I read it thoroughly.
I forced myself to ignore the lines that read 'No staying out late,' and 'You must always obey my rules'.
It was more like house-mating terms, and it was quite favourable. I signed it.
The women watched Alex and I converse.
I cleared my throat. "Who are they?" I asked.
"House workers. They'd help you around the house."
Did he employ people to serve me?
"I do not need them."
"What did the contract say about rules?"
Right! I mustn't disobey him. I gritted my teeth. This would be harder than I thought it would.
“Alright.”
I feigned satisfaction, and I retreated to my room.
I plotted in my head on how to ignore Alex till I get this over with. I do not think I'd be able to bear his attitude for too long.
A ring from my phone made me jolt. I picked it up from the table. It was Jayden calling.
I smiled even though I planned to be upset with him.
“Hi babe,” his smooth voice called from the other end.
“Hi,” I replied dryly.
“I am sorry babe. I was asleep.”
“Hmph.”
I didn't give him a proper response. I needed to show how angry I was.
“I am really sorry babe, please forgive me.”
I can't be upset with him for too long.
“Alright, I forgive you.”
“Thanks. Did you get home safely?”
A bit of silence.
“I did. But I was thrown out,” I sat on my bed, waiting for his response.
Jayden would be so furious, he doesn't like his girlfriend being treated like rags.
“Thrown out? Did that little bitch and her mother throw you out?” anger radiated through his voice.
“Yes they did…”
The next few minutes passed by with Jayden cursing, and saying things he would do after I got my inheritance.
He didn't seem so happy when I told him that I was in Alex's house. He might be jealous… that's normal. I'd do the same if I were in his shoes.
I smiled after ending the call. I was happy I got to talk to my boyfriend.
‘Knock… Knock’
A knock came on my door. I quickly went to get it.
To my surprise, Alexander was standing before me. He was dressed in a white merchandise, and he had packed his hair. The white and silver made his tattoos stand out being a darker color.
Why is he here?
“Get dressed, we are leaving,” he uttered.
“No… I won’t do that Alex. You can't boss me around.”
“I can. Unless you want the FBI raiding the apartment in the next 30mins, and you end up behind their vehicle.”
What? The FBI?
“Alex? Did you commit a crime?”
“I don't answer your questions. I'd give you 10.”
10 minutes? I slammed the door against his face, and I quickly got dressed.
Not something too flashy, just a casual blue T-shirt and a short denim skirt.
Why did I agree to live with Alex? I knew he was trouble.
I rushed down the stairs to meet him. He was outside, kneeling down to his bike, and doing something to the wheels.
I approached him. He got to his feet, and he dusted his hands.
“Good girl,” he said. He got into his bike, and I did too.
I did not really like motorbikes, but when it comes to Alex—my likes and dislikes aren't valid.
He sped off quickly, I had to wrap my hands around him because of his pace.
I was afraid I might fall off.
It was lovely watching the colorful lights and taking in the breeze as the bike rode at full speed.
“Where are we going, Alex?” I shouted through the wind.
“Somewhere safe, little Jackie,” he shouted back.
I held him tightly, I felt him stiffen. I hoped I wasn't touching the wrong nerves.
The ride took 20 minutes, maybe 30, I wasn't really counting.
We stopped at a house, not finely furnished as the glass house, but still quite decent.
An apartment sitting in the middle of nowhere. Why does he have houses that are located in the weirdest places? The place seemed almost deserted. I guess it made a nice hideout.
“How many houses do you have?” I asked as I got off the bike, fixing my skirt.
“Eight or nine,” he replied, turning off his engine. He got off too.
Eight or nine. Right! He is that rich.
When we entered the house, it had an ancient vibe. The paintings, artifacts, and furniture—not modern at all.
“Find yourself a room, we'd return to Madonna tomorrow,” he said as he poured himself something reddish that looked like wine.
“Can I ask a question?”
“No.”
“What crime did you commit?”
“I didn't give you permission to ask.”
“Yeah… But I need to know if I am living with an assasin, a serial killer, armed robbery, or whatever the fuck you are,” I yelled throwing my hands in the air.
“All.”
All? Is he fucking insane?
“I am screwed,” I muttered as I found myself a room like he said I should earlier.
The room was quite calm, everything in it screamed nature, the colors competed to make a unique design. I liked it.
I sat on the bed. A message from Elliana popped in.
‘I heard about what happened, those jerks dared to throw you out. Are you fine Jacqueline?’
It's quite weird that Jayden was the one who broke the news to her. They were friends before he started dating me, but it still doesn't feel right.
‘I am fine,’ I texted back.
I heaved a deep sigh, I wasn't quite sure if I was fine, I might have jumped from one pit to a bigger pit.
I threw my phone on the bed, and laid on my back, my legs jingled at the edge of the bed, as my legs were barely touching the floor.
I survived Aunt Janelle and Kara's tortures for four years, two more years with Alex shouldn't kill, but it feels like it would.
It isn't actually two years, I'd only stay with him on college vacations. I'd do well in the dorms when school resumes.
The TV remote was lying beside me. I didn't plan to die of boredom. I took it, and I turned the TV on.
I didn't find anything interesting on it, so I kept switching the channels.
I left it on the news channel when I got tired. I stood up to get something.
“Breaking News… ROD Industries has been claimed by Mrs Stephens. It's quite a shock that Mr Amin Rodriguez left the company in care of his younger sister, and she is only coming to claim it after four years of his passing.”
My movements froze. I turned to the screen.
“What do you have to say Mrs Janelle Stephens?” The interviewer asked.
Janelle took the microphone, and she smiled at the cameras.
What the fuck?
Jacqueline’s POVJanelle didn’t only claim the house, she also falsely claimed the company.Heat ran through my veins as I watched Janelle smile, and say words that weren’t true. Some stupid businessmen stood behind her, they were smiling too. She probably must have tricked them.I ran out of the room to find Alex. He was still in the sitting room, sipping on his wine elegantly.“Janelle claimed the industry.”He dropped his glass to the table. His gaze landed on me.“That’s interesting. These people are really up to it,” his voice held no remorse in it.“You don’t get me, Alex.”“I do. The company is still yours.”“They would ruin it before I would before I get there. Two years.”“They can’t.”“Alex?”He took his phone and placed a call on someone.“I would accept the position,” was the only thing he said.“So?” I asked. I did not understand what he was doing.“Wait for news,” he said. He dropped his phone, he picked up his glass and he continued sipping. He is totally nuts. This is

Jacqueline’s POVI might have accepted to play by Alex’s rules—which I did not know exactly what it was.I prayed in my head that it wasn't something dangerous. Who am I kidding? Alex's middle name is dangerous. Drugs? Firearms? Dirty politics? Gangs? Alleged assasination? What other illegal activity wasn't he involved in?The bike halted at a building. Sorry, I meant glass house. It was located at the outskirts of the city, sitting on land that would be enough to build four helipads. He turned off the engine, I got down, he did too, and he helped me get my bags down. He marched in without waiting for me. I pulled my bags and I followed behind him. I was kind of jogging, while he was taking simple strides.I hated his long legs.We got to the door. He opened it with his fingerprint.“Mi casa e su casa,” he muttered softly. All along I thought he wouldn't do the language stuff. I know he has visited a lot of countries, no need to show off.I walked in before he did. He stood at the do
Jacqueline's POVI stepped in further, hoping I would hear their conversation a lot more clearly, but I still did not. Just mumbled words that seemed secretive.I clutched onto my traveling bag tightly. I had a bad feeling about their whispers. Aunt Janelle and her daughter had always been the lousy type.I peeped into the thin space left by the door ajar, they sat on the bed, their lips formed soft mutterings. I was sure they were hiding something, or worse… planning something.I was forced to make a sound—an awkward cough that stole their attention. They turned to me, Kara's eyes glimmered with fear, while my aunt's filled with surprise.“I am back,” I said, trying to make the scene less awkward than it was, but I only worsened it.Kara's fear shifted into fake excitement, I could see her through her pretense as she gritted her teeth. She hated me, we stopped pretending about that when she humiliated me at a party two years ago, right in front of Alex, my nemesis. The image of the d
