Aurora

10:15pm.

My head was against the cool window of Mr. King's car. The ride to my place had been a quiet one, mostly because I had nothing to say, and he wasn't much of a talker anyway.

All I wanted to do right then was fly into my bed and black out into a deep, calm sleep where I could at least escape from the hell that I'd been through during the week.

When we stopped by my apartment, he looked at it for a moment, raised an eyebrow, and looked back at me.

I rolled my eyes and picked up my bag as he unlocked the door. "What?"

"The rent must be killing you," he said humorlessly.

Another reason to remember my parents with nothing but animosity. What was the use of having rich parents who abandoned their own child to clean up their mess?

I sighed with a shrug. "Well, some of us don't have the luxury of sitting around all day and expecting things to get done." I let it sink in for a moment, before opening the car door and sliding out of the car.
