55 You'll Be A Substitute

Faye's POV

The sports stadium was deserted on a weekday with no games or many people around. The somewhat empty venue made me feel a bit anxious. I guess I was experiencing some PTSD from the previous explosion. But just the thought of Leander waiting for me inside gave me a little bit of courage.

In front of me stretched a rectangular grass field, which was where Leander trained. On the field were a few players in full football gear. They all looked pretty much the same, with no noticeable differences. I had no idea which one of them was Leander.

The nearest person to me was a janitor cleaning up the area.

"Hi... um, do you know where Leander Sheffield is?" I asked the janitor.

The janitor glanced at me, "You're looking for Lee. Who are you?"

It felt like the first time I introduced my relationship to Leander to a stranger. I used the term "girlfriend." "I'm Leander's girlfriend, Faye."
