Little tears

He laughed…

On my face,

He even turned and laughed more…

But I knew better. That was not a sincere laugh…

It was tormenting,

and mocking me When he was done, he looked at me and sighed

“I never knew you were funny” he said in a serious note

I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out

“Sorry???”he asked “ you are sorry?”

Should I answer this?

“Left my work for you. Is sorry bringing back my time?” he snapped

Oh.

His work

“Tell me Isqaar” he almost shouted that I flinched…

“I was just trying to help” I chocked

“How so?” he asked

Was he really confused at this? I thought he wanted freedom.

“I was a burden.” I said quietly

He chuckled mockingly

“you don’t even have a right to disappear”

He emphasized each and every word. With so much venom, authority and hate? I couldn’t fathom.

I felt a tear drop that I didn’t know I was holding…

“why…why do you hate me so much..?” I just found myself asking , my voice kept cracking

His eyes flashed with an emotion. Then his face soften a bit.

Hmm I guess I’m seeing stuff

“You should head home…and I mean it I have work” He said as he turned his heel and left me here.

Alone..

As usual, I watched his figure leaving .

Disappearing into one of the corners that’s when my vision blurred…

And I felt my cheeks wet. I also turned and headed home, I guess I can not run.

Home.

It seems so wrong to call it that way.

My journey back was not as eventful as the one before, maybe because I was engrossed in thoughts...

He didn’t answer when I asked, why he hated me.

But then he didn’t have to answer,

Because I knew…

I knew how he despises me.

I knew

………….

…………

…………

He pocketed his hands in his pants pockets..

He sighed softly he didn’t know he was holding that..

He closed his eyes to compose himself the proceeds walking

“Why…why ..do you hate me so much?”

He rolled his eyes…

“I left everything for her. And she thanks me by ruining the little peace left in me” he mumbled angrily

He recalled how he felt today earlier when he got a call from one of the gangs spy that his sister was in the eastern market…

Flashback.

He swung in his chair countless times…

Tapping the mahogany desk by his long beautiful fingers…

Waiting for one phone call…

It was almost two pm …

That’s why he almost was worried, they were going to do this an hour ago, what was taking them so long..?

He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard his phone vibrating on the table…

“finally ”he muttered

Then picked it up “tell me you did it” he spoke calmly as if he wasn’t worried

“Sir..

“Jafar...” he groaned already knowing they did not complete their job

“I’m sorry sir...but I wanted your confirmation. Are you sure, We are to attack the east market today…?”Jafar asked

Naseer almost dropped his jaw..

“Jafar...,how many times have we went through this plan?” Naseer asked

“Countless Sir”

“Then why the hell do you still want my confirmation?” Naseer shouted

“Your sister is here sir...”

Naseer felt as if a cold bucket of water poured on him…

“The hell…what’s she doing there”

He asked when he recovered

“That I know not sir”

“Retreat. And Jafar ,keep an eye on her, Then keep me updated”

“Sir”

He hung up…

Naseer looked at the phone. For a long time, So if Jafar didn’t see Her he could have been responsible for his sister’s….

Even before he finished his thoughts another ring came

“Yes” he said a bit too quickly

‘What the hell Naseer, you now sound desperate’ he thought

“Sir, it’s a far fetched theory. But by the way she’s heading, I think she’s going to Islamabad. Anyplace ringing...?”

What the…?

“No…”he said

“Not any?” Jafar asked again

“Nada..”

“Well with this pace, She’s going to be there by Dawn. That is if cops or our men don’t get her first”

Naseer was already on his feet.

“send me her current location”

“Yes sir..”

Then he had run out. He didn’t even remember to take his motorbike.. He just run, and in that Moment, He felt only one thing…

Something he never thought he would feel…

ever

He looked for her like crazy…

He even thought about asking Sabri for an army to search the whole area.

But that’s when he saw her…

Wrapped in their mother’s shawl.

Did she even know it was their mother’s shawl?

He was sure she thought he never noticed that she wore it,

Hmm maybe she dug it in our old stuff .

He was brought back to his senses when he heard a smack…

His eyes bulged out for a minute…

Someone has just slapped her.

His sister…

In front of him.

It took all his courage not to loose his cool…

He walked briskly toward them and boy they looked scared..

And they should be..

They messed with the wrong person..

One he hated the police,

maybe it was because his dad died on duty.

And they did nothing.

Two he just hated them. weren’t those enough reasons to kill them…

When Isqaar turned to him and her tears fell he felt thousands of knives cutting through him. He saw red.

What he couldn’t believe was he let them go…

Why…?,

Because his cowardly sister couldn’t handle seeing him being the devil he is. that’s at least what he told himself.

Or it was he that didn’t want her to see that…

Currently.

He huffed in annoyance..

He hated when his mind was jumbled up

So he dismissed the thoughts and kept walking of course he noticed how some girls and women stole some glances at him…

Some shamelessly stared

He rolled his eyes

“Some people” He muttered

It got noisier,

That’s when he noticed that he left his bike at the headquarters ,

Now he had to go through this noisy market ,funny he didn’t notice how noisy it was when he passed here the first time.

‘That’s because you were busy praying that you got your sister ‘

His conscience snapped at him and he just scoffed in return

His ears caught a commotion which he really didn’t care

“You have to pay us. Shameless girl running around without a veil” a voice yelled

“I’m going to slaughter you alive” came a voice of an angry man

“Go ahead. See if I care “ a sassy female voice rang

Naseer rolled his eyes he knew that voice anywhere even with his eyes closed

feisty,

Sassy…

And, a little bit confident,

Even more than needed.

‘Walk away Naseer, she’s not your problem ‘ his conscience said

And with that, he proceeded walking

“I will wear whatever I want, and you’ll definitely do nothing” she shouted again

“Sabri wouldn’t like to be disrespected. Especially by a girl”

“Well Sabri should shove it in his ass” she sassed again

“Let me see your mouth when I cut you to pieces” a man shouted

“Maybe you should. Then we’d have thousands of me “she said

Though he couldn’t see her from there but he was sure she was smirking. He shook his head…

‘This girl ‘ he muttered

He started for their direction as people parted for him …

At times he really hated this attention that they gave him which was purely out of fear ..

He arrived the spot when one of his men what was his name again..

‘Said ‘or something. Had raised his sharp dagger and everyone looked in fear

He stopped upon seeing Naseer.

“salaam “

Naseer gave a half nod “she giving you a problem again? “he asked the men

“Yes sir..”

“I’ll take it from here.” he said

And the men left slowly but not before throwing her a dirty glare which in turn she smiled sweetly to them and even winking

Naseer looked around everyone was staring

“what!?, you people don’t have lives to live in, if you’re so tired to live I’d happily help you” he shouted And as in queue everyone got back to work

He looked at her…

and found her staring dreamily at him her chestnut orbs almost bore holes into his face

And because she was smiling her cherubic face displayed her one left cute dimples she had …

She had worn her favorite sleeveless blouse and by favorite, he thought because she wore it frequently and a faded jeans that was a bit loose

He rolled his eyes, “just follow me before I strangle you myself...”

She giggled as if he made the funniest joke then followed him happily slightly jogging to keep up with his pace

“Could you be any slower” Naseer muttered irritated

“Are you walking me home ??”she asked excitedly

“No”

She pouted “Naseer”

she called him the only way she does…a seductive pout. And tone. Which he told her he hated it, countless of times.

“Ilham” he warned..

“Aww…he said my name, do it again” she squealed.

“I’d really appreciate if you acted your age Ilham “

“Why you like the matured type” she wiggled her brows

He rolled his eyes…

He seemed to be doing that a lot today maybe it was not an interesting day to him

His eyes darted to her clothing one more time a disapproval frown formed especially when he caught some guys staring shamelessly and she didn’t even notice

“why do you have to dress like this Ilham. You can get yourself killed”

She huffed

“But I wasn’t. You came for me my knight in shining armor” she clapped her hands excitedly..

And once more stared at his beautiful face his sharp jawline that could cut through Ice..

Dark brown eyes hooded with what…?

Anger

“They don’t exist. But death does, so stop this nonsense of yours Ilham” he snapped

She sighed..” I do what I want Naseer..”

“That can cost you” he said quietly

“Awww. You said that because you care don’t you?”

His answer was simple and in a bored tone …

“no”

She ignored his blunt answer…

“if someone gave you two options. Spend your whole life with me or die—

“Die” he said bluntly

She tried to keep a neutral face but deep down inside her heart felt as it was ripped into two. No even ten fold pieces

“That’s fine. ..we can work that out” she said

“We…?there is no we Ilham, and you know it, I don’t like you. I just tolerate you ,for my sister you are her best friend and only friend..”

He removed his jacket

“now we both know that you and I are never going to happen..”

he covered her bare shoulders. These little gestures though soothed her pain from his harsh words so she smiled instead…

“I’ll be here…waiting” she said confidently

He chuckled.” sure …why not”

He walked away, Leaving her hugging his jacket which had his enticing cologne. And a tear slip down her cheek.

‘I am not going to cry. He’ll come around’

Then she started heading home…

One day he’ll come around.
