Chapter 19- Onyx POV I pace my house waiting for the arrival of Clara and Lobo. She will be coming home with the signed paperwork from yesterday. The paperwork makes us allies with the Blood Water Pack and gives us access to all the other packs. Brett has angered me by announcing he has more for me than just the paperwork but refuses to tell me what, for my own good. My alarm sounds that a car has pulled into my territory, and I jog outside to meet Clara. As she exits the car, she has a smile I have never seen before. “Alpha, I bring you a gift.” She smiles wider as she hands me a gift bag filled with tissue paper. “What is it?” I ask. “It is from Briar, the Alpha’s Daughter of Blood Water Pack.” Her words are filled with hope. Something in her eyes tells me it means more than just a simple thank you. I nervously pull out the tissue paper and find the Ziploc bag I had once given Brett. Now it holds an envelope and a woman’s shirt. “What
Chapter 20 – Onyx POV I am approaching the territory of the Blood Water pack when I call Brett. “Hello, Sir.” Brett is formal. “Are they safe? Were you followed?” I ask again. I know they are safe because he keeps me up to speed with every passing moment. “Yes, Sir, they are safe. No, Sir, we were not followed.” Relief floods me that my mate and her friend are safe. But that only makes room for anger. “I am going to kill that Alpha!” I scream in anger at the situation, not Brett. The next voice I hear startles me so much that I turn quiet. “No! Please don’t kill my family. I don’t know what I must do to make you not kill them, but I will do anything.” Her voice makes me calm. I am taking deep laboring breaths trying to subside my anger to speak to her in a friendlier tone than I currently have. The last thing I wish is for her to be scared of me because of my anger. “Briar?” I almost whisper. “Yes, please. Please don’t kill my family.” She sobs into the phone, making m
Chapter 21- Briar- A long chat For as horrible of a situation Judith and I are in, we had a wonderful day. Brett and Matt ensured that every moment of our day was filled with learning fun things about our pack and showing us around the grounds. Knowing this would be one of my homes, I wanted to learn everything. Every detail I wished to know, they told me, and some. They spent the day helping me learn and giving me new excitement about the pack. After a long day, I relax in bed with nothing I must accomplish other than watching TV. I have just started watching the show's second season when my phone beeps from a number I do not know. “How was your day?” It asks, followed by a slew of pictures and videos of Lobo playing in the yard. Photos of the territory, and my favorite, are of him standing in front of a house, holding a piece of paper that says, “Come home soon.” Scrolled nicely upon the front of it.I snuggle into the bed and pull his shirt over my nose to smell his
Chapter 22- Meeting Onyx It takes me hours to comb through the paperwork from the Execution Bay pack. As promised, I will speak for them if requested, so I must know everything there is to learn on their part. I am grateful for their trust when I have not met the pack or my mate. “If you have any questions, just ask.” Matt insists when I haven’t spoken in hours. By the time we stop for lunch, I have successfully gone over the paperwork and have a clear view of their standpoint, which is brilliant. It resembles closely to my stance on the matter. I understand their stance and why they are moving forward the way that they are. I reviewed the King's agenda written in his hand and noted particular keywords from his forum. “Where are we staying tonight?” I mumble through a big bite of burger. “Please don’t do that in front of Onyx; it is not ladylike.” Judith tusks. “He won’t love her any less. It may even be attractive for him.” Matt laughs while looking a
Chapter 23 – The Arrival of the Packs Onyx’s arms wrap around my body, pulling me to his side. “I will always be here for you and anyone who needs saving. That is what I pride myself on and pack on. Something I hear you also care about.” “I didn’t know I needed saving as badly as I did until you sent Beta Brett to our pack. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for you all.” I smile at him as he wipes my tears from my face. A knock at the door startles both of us. “Who is it?” He calls out to the person, not leaving my side. “Brett.” He calls back so casually that I wonder if it will affect Onyx. “Come in.” Onyx doesn’t leave my side as the door opens. “What can I help you with?” He asks. “I hate to intrude, but the other packs, including the Alpha of Blood Water pack, are arriving. I am sorry, Briar; I had hoped he would not come. You have my word that I will not let you out of my sight when you are not with Onyx.” I watch Onyx cautiously for any reaction to such a comment, a
Chapter 24- Dinner with the PacksI watch as shock fills them. They begin looking desperately to find anyone else who would take their side, which typically happens at meetings. The Alphas address the Beta of other packs with respect. No other members have a higher position other than the Alpha. “Understood.” They nod in agreement before turning to face my father, who is as white as a ghost. “What do you want?” Dad whispers as he approaches Onyx and holds his head down low in defeat. “Keep away from Briar and Judith, and there will be no problems for you or your pack.” He spits before motioning me away toward the doors.Inside I find Judith helping hand out drinks. “Judith, I would like to introduce you to Alpha Onyx,” I say, smiling brightly. She smiles at me before turning her attention to Onyx and bowing. “It is nice to meet you. I want to thank you for your kindness these past few days. I do not know where we would be without you and your pack.” Her words hurt me, not because they
Chapter 25- Who is in our Cabin?I can hear the struggle in the woods between Onyx and whoever was watching us. Branches snap, and then Onyx approaches the steps once again with the stranger in tow. “Tell her.” Onyx demands the man. “Alpha Leo has hired me to follow you. He wants me to report back your every move to him.” I am instantly terrified of what this man has just stated. “What have you told him thus far?” I demand. “Only that you were brought into this cabin, and you slipped and fell on the way to the main building, forcing the Alpha to catch you.” “What are you telling him next?” Onyx questions him. “Nothing if you let me live. I will simply disappear, and you will never see me again. Nor will he.” He promises. “How do we know you are telling the truth?” I ask. “I have no ties to him, he is barely paying me, and I think it is rather creepy that a father wishes a strange man to watch his daughter. He should have a member of his pack looking over his daughter. It goes to show
Chapter 26 – A Special Gift **Warning** Sexual content The tenderness of the kiss sparks a fire within me. “Onyx?” I plead between kisses. He doesn’t hesitate to deepen the kiss and push my body against the wall. “Tell me to stop, and I will.” He promises me, looking deep into my eyes. “Ok.” I agree before pulling his face back to mine. I can feel his erection pulsating against my inner thigh and making my body react how I have always been told it would when I met my mate. I can feel my body not becoming my own as it rubs desperately upon him. Desperate to find relief, I pull Onyx’s shirt from his pants and over his head. “Eagar, are we? We have all night.” He says while slowly playing with the hemline of my shirt. “It has been a lifetime for me, don’t make me wait any longer.” I plead to him. With those words, he swiftly removes my shirt and lifts me to straddle him. His face lands between my breasts, and he instantly removes my bra from my body and to
