Amaya

I stirred on the bed I was laying on. The headache I had was pounding my head making me groan out of discomfort.

I slowly opened my eyelids but immediately shut them. Why was my room so bright? I don't remember it being bright like that.

Wait a minute.

I reopened my eyes and took a long questioning glance at the room I was in.

This isn't my room. Did I get kidnapped by a psycho Uber driver again?

Last night was nothing but a blur right now. The only thing I remember quite vividly is almost getting stabbed by a spear.

As panic slowly started to settle within me, I quietly and discretely pulled myself out of the bed. I didn't want to risk making any noise just in case the guy was a maniac and would actually stab me with a spear this time.

I tiptoed myself to the hallway. The house looked clean, modern, and well kept. I spotted the staircase and checked my surroundings to see if anyone was there before quietly walking towards them.

Luckily, the front door was located near the stairs. I smiled in triumph thinking that I would once again escape a psycho kidnapper. I, unfortunately, thought too soon.

As I turned the doorknob, I had the intention to whisk the door open and make a run for it but a hand came crashing down on it stopping my movements. The door slammed shut with a loud thud making me flinch back and crash into a chest.

"Now now, why in a hurry little one?" A husky voice whispered in my ear from behind me. His voice was deep and undeniably sexy. I could've fallen on my knees right there but now wasn't the time to swoon over him.

My panic reflex suddenly kicked in without warning. I quickly turned around and tried my best to land a hard punch on his chest hoping that it'll have an effect on him. When I actually ended up hurting my knuckles instead of him, I knew this guy wouldn't be worth trying to fight.

At this revelation, I made a second attempt at sprinting out of this house. Luckily I was fast enough but it was mostly adrenaline pushing me. My heart rate was rising at an abnormal level. My breaths became quicker. My chest started to hurt but I didn't let that stop me. I needed to get as far as possible from that man.

Why do I always end up in situations like this?

As I was getting further, I took one quick glance back to the house. The front door was open but no sign of the man. Instead of reassuring me, this made me more scared. Where did he go?

I kept running with my head turned trying to think where he could've been until I crashed onto a hard chest in front of me. I tumbled to the ground with force making my butt hurt a little. I nervously trailed my eyes upwards to get a glance of who this person was.

It was him.

How the hell did he get in front of me so fast?

I stared at him wide-eyed. His green eyes stared down at me. Messy black hair was hanging down at the front of his face almost covering up his eyes. His expression showed me that he was quite tired of my attitude. I mean, excuse me if I don't really feel like getting killed today.

Without warning, he grabbed me from the waist and threw me over his left shoulder. The amount of force he had made me yelp out of surprise. He picked me up as if I were a bag of feathers.

"Hey, hey! Let me go!" I began to squirm in his hold but he wasn't budging one single millimeter. He was just abnormally strong.

"Stop moving, I won't hurt you," he growled out making stop immediately. Something about his voice made me want to obey him.

He walked us back into the house. He gently sat me down on a sofa in the living room. Something about his gentleness made me more skeptical about him.

"Do you want something to drink?" I stared at him with a frown. Why was he acting so nicely like this? He's the one who kidnapped me. He's the one who tried to kill me with a spear yesterday night.

"Why are you offering me a drink?"

"I don't know, politeness I guess."

"Since when kidnapping people is polite?" He sighed.

"It's not what it seems-"

"So enlighten me."

"I would if you let me talk," he growled out once again making me shut up.

"You might not believe me this time but you have to listen okay. I'll try to make it as simple as possible." What's going on? Why did he think I would freak out over what he was about to say?

"Supernaturals are real and they've existed even before humans came on this earth. Of course, humans don't know because that would cause chaos.

However, in the sixties, a scientist discovered our existence and saw us as a threat to the human race. So he created all kinds of formulas and recipes to overpower them. He wrote them in a sacred book. The supernaturals soon came to discover his plans and he, unfortunately, got killed.

The book became an ultimate weapon among the supernaturals. Because even supernaturals could use it to overpower everyone. Of course, that's something that no one wants to see.

The book has a mind of its own. Since it was created to work against supernaturals, it obviously didn't want one to take possession of it. That's where the line of chosen ones begun.

Chosen ones are destined to protect the book at birth for when the time comes. You Amaya are a chosen one and I'm your protector. We are now their targets. Together, we have the duty of guarding the sacred book and making sure it doesn't get in the wrong hands. The sooner you believe me the better because the supernaturals are all scheming plans for attack." No words. No words could explain what I was feeling right now.

Who does he take me for? All of this talk about supernaturals, sacred book and chosen one. Does he actually expect me to believe this? Is this the reason why he kidnapped me? Now, this is another level of psycho.

"I see that you don't quite believe me." He sighed in defeat.

No shit I don't.

"You think?"

"Listen Amaya it's really important to not ignore this. I know it's hard to believe right now but I'm telling the truth."

"Y-yeah, the truth. Anyways, can I maybe like go back home now?"

"Whatever," he growled out clearly displeased with my reaction and the way I wanted to end this conversation.

Without wasting another second, I hurried out the door eager to return to the comfort of my house.

I was still close enough though to hear his next words.

"I'll be watching you."
