Amaya

As soon as I arrived home, I hopped into the shower. I felt so dirty because alcohol stains from yesterday were all over me. A nice hot shower just sounded right.

I called Destiny before my shower to see if she was okay. She said that she was fine but she doesn't remember anything about last night nor how she got back home but at least she's safe. I wonder who took her back home.

I was still a little bit weirded out by what that man said.

What if he wasn't lying?

What am I thinking? Of course he's lying. Trying to make me believe that supernaturals are real and exist. Who does he take me for?

My parents didn't suspect that I got kidnapped yesterday. I don't know if I should feel hurt or relieved. They thought I just went over to Destiny's house for the night. I just wanted to leave last night in the past and move on so maybe it was a good thing that my parents didn't suspect a thing.

I let the hot water from the shower run down through my whole body. I've been in here for at least ten minutes already. I'm telling you, hot water is an unofficial drug. Once you feel the hot water make contact with your skin, it's game over.

After an extended amount of time under the warm water. I reluctantly got out.

I made my way back into my room and sat down on my desk. I needed to continue my book. No more procrastinating.

As I waited for my script to load I spotted something on the shelf. It was the book that I thought belonged to my mom. I suddenly remembered something:

"So he created all kinds of formulas and recipes to overpower them. He wrote them in a sacred book."

"The book became an ultimate weapon among the supernaturals."

"Chosen ones are destined to protect the book at birth for when the time comes."

"You Amaya are a chosen one"

What if, what if.

Jeez no, why am I thinking about this again? The whole story is obviously a big lie.

Sighing, I stood up and roughly grabbed the book. I made my way outside to the garbage bin and dumped it in there.

There, that should hopefully put an end to my worrying.

The next morning my dad woke me up informing me that we were going to stay at my aunt's house for the weekend. She lives about a three hours drive from here. That's why we don't really go there that often.

Aunt Omnira was my favourite person in this family. Whenever I'm with her I never get bored. She's like my best friend.

I took a seat on the right-side bench in the back of the car. My parents were in the front. One chance that I'm an only child. I've never had to fight anyone over which seat I'm taking during a road trip. Of course, there are some times when I wished I had a sibling but most of the time I don't complain.

The road trip surprisingly wasn't as boring as I thought it would be. I slept for most of the ride but overall I enjoyed myself. We had to make two stops for the restroom and for food.

At a point, we stopped at the gas station to refill the car. I felt like buying a small snack so I walked into the convenience store.

As I was paying, I noticed something from afar through the window located behind the cashier. It was a shadow. It looked like the same one I saw at the library. He or she was just standing there looking in my direction.

Goosebumps showed themselves on my skin and I gulped. How is it possible that he's here? Did he follow us?

"The sooner you believe me the better because the supernaturals are all scheming plans for attack."

"I'll be watching you."

"Here's your bag ma'am," the cashier lady said while handing me my bag full of snacks making me snap out of my daze.

"Oh yes thank you," I shyly said and walked out of the store.

During the rest of the car ride, I couldn't stop thinking about his words. The more I thought about it, there more I got scared.

What if he was saying the truth?

As we pulled up on Aunt Omnira's driveway, she was already standing outside ready to greet us. We haven't seen each other in so long so our excitement was to be expected.

"Hey sis," my mom said while running into her arms. They shared a big meaningful hug. My mom and aunt are like best friends. Even though they don't see each other much, they stay very close.

"Damn you've aged since the last time I saw you," Aunty Omnira said.

"Speak for yourself, don't you think I didn't see those grey hair strands that you're trying to hide" I went to the back of the car to help Dad unload our bags.

"Oh shush." My aunt kissed her lips and rolled her eyes. They continued to laugh together while telling a long series of inside jokes they have.

"Now Daron, be careful with those bags and your back. You know you ain't getting younger," my aunt told my dad.

"If my back is strong enough to deal with your sister then it's surely strong enough to deal with a couple of bags." They both laughed.

"Dad!"

"Daron!"

"Whitney you're still active I see. Now be careful not to get pregnant, we all know you ain't surviving another baby," Now the three of them laughed while I stood there still grossed out by my dad's remark.

"Honey Amaya come here," Aunt Omnira called out to me while holding out her hands. I gladly went to her and gave her a huge hug.

"How's my favourite niece doing?"

"I'm doing fine thanks."

"Now I bet you lying cause you didn't bring any boyfriend here. How can you go that long without any vitamin D hun?" Maybe I forgot to mention that my aunt is also very bold.

"Jeez, Aunty."

"I'm just saying. When Carl was still alive, there wasn't a day where we didn't fuck you know." I scrunched my face not wanting to have those kinds of memories of my dead uncle.

"Too much info Aunty."

"Deal with it hun, you're with me for the whole weekend."
