Chapter 3

Author: Cats & Dogs
Kendall's POV

Less than a fraction of a second later, my phone started ringing off the hook. I didn't answer any of Kieran's calls.

Five minutes later, the front door was kicked open. Kieran braced against the doorframe, panting heavily.

He had run so fast that his wound had ripped open. The horrifying patch of crimson spread across his side.

Yet, he seemed completely oblivious to it. Like a man possessed, he charged at me and ripped the divorce agreement to shreds. As if that wasn't enough, he set the scraps on fire and reduced them to ashes before lifting his gaze and looking me in the eye.

His gaze was dangerous, almost predatory. "Kendall, you know damn well that I'd rather die than leave you. You must've known that Talulah had tricked me into signing the divorce agreement, so why the hell did you sign it?"

Before I could answer, his lips crashed against mine. His kisses were fierce, ravenous, and tasted of blood.

I desperately tried to turn my head away before letting out a breathless chuckle. "Right... You'd rather die than leave me. But you're totally fine cheating on me."

He went rigid.

I snapped, "What, did you think that because I love you, I'd never be able to leave you no matter what you did?"

Meeting my mocking gaze, his expression softened. He gently nuzzled my neck with his cheek. "I was wrong. What will it take for you to forgive me?"

"I want Talulah to abort the baby."

"Consider it done," he answered without a moment's hesitation.

"I want you to break up with her."

This time, he fell silent for a moment. "...Alright."

I chuckled. Almost simultaneously, heart-wrenching sobs burst from the pillow beside us. "Kieran Steel, you son of a bitch!"

Kieran's expression changed drastically. With a sweet smile, I pulled out my phone.

The screen revealed that the call was still connected. I'd been livestreaming the whole conversation to his lover for quite some time.

Talulah bawled her eyes out on the other end of the line. "Kieran Steel, you're the one who chose to abandon our baby and me first! Don't you dare regret this!" With that, she hung up.

Kieran appeared frustrated, as if he wanted to chew someone out. Yet, the moment he saw my face, he gritted his teeth and held his tongue. He shoved me away and stormed out.

By the time I leisurely followed his location to a grand bridge, the two of them were already locked in a full-blown lovers' quarrel. One moment the couple was hurling insults at each other; the next, they were kissing. They threw hands, shoved, and then pulled each other into their arms.

The moment he spotted me, Kieran tensed and shielded Talulah behind him once more. Suppressing his anger, he gritted out, "What the hell do you want now, Kendall? Tal's pregnancy is still unstable. I'm warning you, don't provoke her again!"

Talulah abruptly darted out from behind him. Her cheeks were still wet with tears, yet the triumphant gleam in her eyes had returned.

She lunged at me before whispering in my ear. "You shouldn't take a man's words to heart. At the end of the day, actions speak louder than words. I'm carrying his baby right now. Guess who he'll choose between you and me?"

As soon as her words fell, she clamped her hands around my neck and leaped off the bridge, dragging me down with her. The ice shattered beneath us, and I plunged into the freezing water. The ripples were like countless shimmering blades, slicing into my skin until every inch of me screamed in agony.

Talulah's frantic yet confident voice rang in my ears. "I'm carrying your child, Kieran! Let's see if you have the guts to watch me die!"

Ice cracked and water splashed around us as Kieran leaped in after us and swam toward us like a madman. After hesitating for only a few seconds, he grasped Talulah and pulled her into his arms. "I know you're an expert swimmer; you can make it to shore on your own, but Tal can't!"

Talulah rested her head on his shoulder before turning around to flash me a triumphant grin. "I win," she mouthed.

I smiled back at her. "Who knows? Maybe it's a win-win situation?"

She was caught off guard, staring at me like a deer caught in headlights. However, I didn't call for help, nor did I swim toward the surface.

Kieran was right. I was an exceptional swimmer.

Merely moments ago, I suddenly realized that if I remained alive, I could never leave him. What if I faked my own death, though?

Sunlight shimmered faintly through the surface above me. I watched the two of them cling to each other as I silently sank deeper into the abyss.

"Goodbye, Kieran…" I thought to myself. I was just about to swim away unnoticed when the flickering silhouette near the water's surface suddenly froze.

  • My Villain Husband Stole My Life   Chapter 11

Kendall's POVKieran asked to meet me one more time after that incident. We met at the café we used to frequent. Unfortunately, things were no longer the same. "How can I earn your forgiveness, Kendall?" he asked.I pondered for a moment. "You dismantled my old team. Tell you what—why don't you transfer your company and all your assets to me as compensation first?" To my surprise, he agreed without the slightest hesitation. He immediately called Sam and had him draw up a contract. He transferred all his assets to me on the spot. I smiled. "You forced me to my knees, and you even let Talulah slap me across the face." He cautiously took my hand and slapped himself hard across the face twice. When I remained indifferent, he reached for the fruit knife on the table. I cocked my brow, watching him. "So you don't blame me for killing your child now?" Kieran frantically shook his head. "You're the most important person to me! If it makes you happy, I'll dig up their grave!"

  • My Villain Husband Stole My Life   Chapter 10

Kendall's POVWhen Jasper and I emerged from the banquet hall, the roar of an engine suddenly echoed from the bottom of the stairs. I looked up and found Talulah behind the wheel of a white sports car. She floored the gas pedal and barreled straight toward me. Her face was flushed crimson behind the windshield. Her eyes were bloodshot, and she looked utterly deranged. "Kendall!" The piercing screech of tires grinding over the gaps between the steps filled the entire entrance portico. However, she abruptly screamed and slammed on the brakes. Kieran had rushed out and planted himself firmly in front of me. The tires locked and skidded half a yard before the car came to a halt inches from him. The car's front bumper was mere inches from his knees. "Kieran Steel, you fucking lunatic! I love you so damn much, yet you'd fucking die for that bitch!" she sobbed, crouching on the ground. Her sobs broke into ragged fragments, reverberating off the walls of the portico. Kieran's shirt

  • My Villain Husband Stole My Life   Chapter 9

Kendall's POVJasper and I attended a banquet to officially announce that our two families had returned. Everyone gaped at me."Kendall? Where have you been in the last five years?""Jasper nearly drove himself insane searching for you. I thought you were dead..." Kieran burst into the ballroom then. Amid the sea of elegant gowns and bespoke suits, Kieran, the richest man in Echelon, looked utterly disheveled. His shirt was a crumpled mess, and fresh blood had begun seeping through the stain at his waist. He looked like he'd just crawled out of a pile of rubble. He wove through the sea of guests and came to a stop in front of me. The noise around us abruptly died down. The clinking of glasses, the hushed whispers, and even the background music seemed to have been toned down. All eyes were on him, focusing on his open palm. Dozens of wedding rings shimmered under the chandeliers. "I'm returning all of these to you, Kendall," he said.I lowered my gaze and took one look a

Third-Person POVTalulah's smile froze on her face. "What?" "Kendall's wedding rings. The ones you took from her bedroom," Kieran explained. "Give them back." The hospital room fell silent for a long, long time. The color gradually drained from her face, and her lips began to quiver.Talulah abruptly sat up. Her wrist scraped against the bedframe, turning the gauze a deeper shade of red. "What's the meaning of this, Kieran? I slit my wrists! I almost died, and the first thing you ask me when you walk through that door is about that woman's rings?" "Give them back," he repeated. She went rigid, as if she had just been slapped across the face. After a prolonged silence, she burst into heart-wrenching sobs, clutching the bedsheet so tightly that her knuckles turned white. "Have you ever loved me at all, Kieran? Even just a little? Am I always going to be inferior to her in your heart?"Drinking in her contorted, tear-streaked face, Kieran suddenly realized he felt nothing at

Third-Person POVKieran turned the entire city upside down to search for Kendall. There were no records of her leaving the country, no flight bookings, and no trace of her at any hotel, train station, or bus terminal. He even called in favors to check hospital emergency room admissions, wondering if she'd been injured and needed medical attention. Still, nothing turned up. It was as if Kendall had been erased from the face of the earth. The hacked home surveillance system had finally been restored. Kieran stood in the empty living room, staring at the last frozen frame on the screen. At the villa's front gate, a man in a black coat held open the car door for Kendall. She bent down and got inside, her profile illuminated clearly by the streetlight. The man's face remained hidden in the shadows, yet Kieran recognized his silhouette. His hands trembled faintly, and a chill seeped into his bones. Only a single thought remained in his mind. It was so over. He'd found her. Jas

  • My Villain Husband Stole My Life   Chapter 6

Kendall's POVThe man outside wasn't Kieran. He was tall, standing against the light. I couldn't quite make out his features, but his cold presence reached me before his voice did.He lowered his head to look at me. Then, he reached out and brushed the loose strands of hair away from my face, tucking them behind my ear. Having not seen each other for five years, his first words were raspy beyond belief. "You've lost so much weight."He held a photograph. It was a shot of the tree outside my window, taken from the balcony during my livestream moments ago. That single photograph had been enough for him to find me. I grasped his wrist and finally smiled. "Let's go home."Jasper's palm was scorching hot as it enveloped my hand. As our car rounded the corner, I caught a glimpse of a silhouette sprinting after us in the rearview mirror. He pounded the door so violently that the glass rattled in its frame. After what felt like an eternity, the door was finally pulled open. However, t
