Chapter 3

While we were on the way to the hospital, I brought up the idea of calling the police.

Chris's hands on the steering wheel jerked suddenly, causing Hailey to grow agitated too.

“No! I signed a confidentiality agreement!”

I froze for a moment. Disbelief flooded over me as I questioned,

“You knew about this all along?”

In the rearview mirror, Hailey pressed her lips together. Her face showed no emotion as she replied flatly,

“How would I know those women would go that far?”

I clenched my fist and said firmly and forcefully,

“What they did was a crime. We have to call the police!”

Hailey whipped her head around and yelled at me,

“Troy! If you call the police, they’ll definitely investigate me! The entire Spencer family will be dragged down! Are you trying to be an ungrateful traitor?”

She shot me a vicious glare. I was stunned.

Was this still the woman who used to melt into my arms and act cute?

When we arrived at the hospital, Hailey did not get out of the car. She only warned me repeatedly not to say anything reckless, then left with Chris without looking back.

I could only go in alone, numbly watching the doctor treat my wounds.

The past few nightmarish hours and Hailey's shift in attitude towards me were absolutely unbearable.

I kept comforting myself. Maybe Hailey had been deceived by those women, or perhaps she was scared of getting the Spencer family involved. That must be why she did not want me to report it. That had to be it.

However, with my capabilities, how could I possibly fail to protect a mere Spencer family?

At the thought of that, I finally made the call.

“Investigate Bloom Haven. I want the full list of last night’s guests and all the footage.”

Two hours later, my assistant arrived at the hospital and respectfully handed me a thick folder.

When it came to the videos, he hesitated for a moment. I narrowed my eyes and glanced at him. He immediately reported,

“We discovered that Madam and Chris were also there… engaging in an illicit relationship!”

What?! It felt like my heart was struck by a heavy blow. My hands trembled as I opened one of the videos.

Last night, Hailey had booked a room right next to the one where I was humiliated. She was cradled in Chris's arms like a princess, blushing as she snuggled close to him.

She mumbled, her lips forming a pout, “You’re the impressive one! Troy is just good‑looking. Let the sisters have their fun. That’s the only thing he’s good for.”

Chris asked with a nasty grin on his face, “Miss Spencer, can you really bear to part with him?”

Hailey sneered, “He’s just a house‑husband living off me! Serving them is all he's good for, isn’t it?”

It only took two short lines to shatter three years of love into pieces.

In her eyes, the silent devotion I had given was nothing more than a tool that could be handed over at will.

Tears poured down my face instantly. My assistant quickly turned his back, careful not to look.

I let out a low, hoarse roar, yet it felt as though a massive stone was crushing my chest, making it hard to breathe.

After a long while, I finally forced out an order, “Take care of a few things for me!”

I slowly clenched my fists. I would make them all repay this debt, one step at a time.
