Chapter 3

I had just reached the other property we owned in Middle City when the security guard stopped me. "Mr. Taylor, Ms. Anderson told us that you can't stay here."

I was stunned, then remembered immediately.

Even though the house belonged to me, Wren was the one who bought it for me.

What was given could always be easily taken back.

I was naive to think that she was different.

As the cold wind blew, I wrapped my jacket tighter around my body.

I decided to go to a hotel instead.

"Sir, can you show me your ID?" the receptionist requested. I rummaged through my bag.

However, as I was doing that, I suddenly remembered that the bag containing my ID was in my previous car.

"Are you looking for this?"

I heard a familiar female voice behind me. Wren was toying with my ID with a cold look on her face.

I knew that she would not return that to me easily.

She stared at me coldly.

"Apologize."

"What?"

As I spoke, I saw Ted walking in with his fists clenched.

"Joe, I'm sorry, I don't want that car anymore."

As he said that, he pressed the key back into my hand.

"Your ID is inside the car. Didn't you do that to remind me that the car belongs to you?

"I don't want it anymore. I don't want anything anymore…"

He grabbed my arm and suddenly pulled my fist toward his face. Then, he tumbled backward with me in tow.

"Ted!"

Wren frantically helped him up and let me fall onto the floor.

I felt extreme pain in my abdomen.

My vision slowly blurred, and I could no longer hear anything clearly.

Before I shut my eyes, I saw Wren hurriedly leaving with Ted.

Three days later, I woke up in the hospital VIP ward.

Wren held a photo in her hand. There was a darkened expression on her face.

When she heard my cough, she turned around and suppressed her anger.

"Did you sleep with her that day?"

I was still weak from the coma, and I did not know what she was talking about.

"Who? What?"

She threw the photo at me and yelled, "Joe, how long are you going to keep up with this act?

"She's five weeks pregnant! Five full weeks!

"Counting backward, that's the day you met her five weeks ago.

"No wonder you're asking for a divorce this calmly. Turns out it's because you want to baby-trap her!

"But you made the wrong move. She didn't even keep the baby!"

I immediately came back to my senses when I heard what she said. I grabbed the piece of paper and read it carefully.

It was indeed Luna's abortion record.

However, the baby was not mine.

Just when my lips curved into a bitter smile, someone suddenly grabbed my arm fiercely.

Wren had instructed the bodyguard to escort me out of the hospital.

"You have to get a vasectomy today!"

I wanted to laugh in anger when I glared at her.

If she had understood how to properly calculate the weeks of the pregnancy, she would not have suspected that I was the father.

It was clearly not my child!

"Let me go!" I kicked the bodyguard away with all my might. "Get away from me!

"I'm only saying this once. Nothing happened between Luna and me."

She grabbed my collar and questioned me with teary eyes.

"Do you really miss her that much? Do you really want to go back to her that badly?

"Back then, she made you lose your job and become homeless. Have you forgotten all about that?

"Joe, are you this stupid?"

Stupid?

I loosened my fists and suppressed my tears.

Yes, I was indeed quite stupid.

Luna cheated on me, yet I got remarried. Was that not stupid?

She wanted me to get a vasectomy?

Sure, I would do it.

I took a few deep breaths and said calmly, "You can make the arrangements for the vasectomy. The sooner the better."
