6th Chapter

I wake up with someone knocking on the door. I mutter to myself. I get up and open the door. Then I widen my eyes when I see Daniel there. He smirks looking at me.

Shit! I must look like a witch!

“I decided to let you ride it.”

“Really?” I smile widely and his smile grows.

“Yes, but I'll be on the side.” I roll my eyes.

“Want to put wheels on too?” I ask cynically and he laughs.

“You are terrible, girl!”

I look away.

“Can I change my clothes or do you want me to go disheveled?”

“If you want to scare him, you can go like this.”

I look at him with fury now.

“I'm going to have breakfast. I'll wait for you down there.”

“OK.” I close the door on his face and take a deep breath. I can hear his laughter and soon there is silence outside. I change my clothes and tie my hair up in a ponytail. He was really rebellious today.

As soon as I reach the dining room, I see that only Daniel is sitting.

“Where is your father?”

“He had to leave early today.”

“Hmm...”

I sit on the chair opposite him and grab what I'm going to eat.

We were silent for a long time. I don't know what to talk to him, except about horses. I know it's his passion, but there's more to it than that, isn't there?

“This place that you’ll take me today ... Can minors enter?”

“Where do you think I'm going to take you, a nightclub or something?” Daniel smiles cynically.

“I do not know. That's why I'm asking” I reply sourly.

“You can rest easy. It's a place for people your age.”

“And what the hell does that mean?”

“It's a little cafeteria of a friend of mine.”

“Hmm...”

“They're from Brazil. They moved in recently.”

“Nice.”

“There is usually live music there, but tonight it’s karaoke.”

”Karaoke?”

“Yes.”

“Do you sing?” I ask, laughing.

“I don’t. We usually laugh at the people who go up on that stage.”

“You’re evil!” I mumble and he smiles.

“But they go up there to make us laugh. Nobody sings well.”

“There is always someone who has a good voice.” I shrug.

“I never saw it there.”

“It's not possible.”

“Lets see if there's anyone today.”

“Sure.” I smile.

We finished breakfast and went to the stable. Daniel prepared the Cometa and then made me put on all the protective equipment. I looked bored while he got me a helmet.

“Ready.”

“I do not need this!”

He rolls his eyes and approaches me. Then put that in my head. I look at him sulkily, and he holds that crap on my chin. I feel his finger on my cheek and blink in confusion.

“If he takes you down, you'll thank me for having it.”

“If he drops me, I'll fall on my ass.”

“Oh my God! Stop being stubborn! I'll end up changing my mind!” He speaks irritated.

“Okay. Can we start?”

He leads the Cometa to the center of the site and I go along.

“Very well. Take it easy.”

“For your information I ride horses since I was six years old. So I know how to climb!”

“So go on, miss knows everything,” he says cynically. He was in front of Cometa and was holding his reins.

I hold the saddle and put my left foot on the stirrup. I give a slight push to the floor and put my other leg over it. Soon I was sitting and looking at Daniel with raised eyebrows. He tried to hold back the smile.

“Very well.”

“I said I know what to do.”

“Okay. But that doesn't mean he'll accept you.”

“Then let's get on with it.”

“OK.”

Daniel was pulling the Cometa around the place. I was bored on top of him. Why go so slow? I feel like a little girl of four, who is riding a horse for the first time.

“He doesn't seem to deny me”

“Yes, but it is better not to risk it. Let's go little by little.”

After a few more laps, he stopped and told me to get off. I did it easily and quickly got that drug out of my head. I felt free right away.

I think I know how horses feel with the saddle... We sat on the grass and watched Cometa run. Even he must have been bored with that lack of speed that we were before.

“You really have a way with horses.”

“Have a way?” I ask indignantly. “You never saw me ride a horse to go out thinking about me!”

“Yeah, but...”

“But nothing! You can't judge people that way.” I say irritably.

“Okay, rage” he says with his hands in the air. “I stopped thinking anything about you.”

“Rage? Ah... you know what? I'll shut your mouth!” I get up furiously and head to the stable without looking back.

Inside I see a brown horse and I approach. I make friends with him quickly and in a short time he is sealed. I drive him outside and Daniel smiles when he saw me. He is still sitting on the lawn.

I get on the horse and sigh. I missed Teci...

I started walking slowly around the place and looked at Daniel. He looked at me with a cynical smile on his face. He must be thinking that was the speed I used to walk.

I smirked and shook the horse's reins for him to accelerate. His smile faded and I started running with the horse.

That sense of freedom again. I love it!

Cometa started running after me, neighing and shaking his head. Daniel got up quickly and watched with a look of dread. I had to laugh at his face. He's so scared!

I ran for a few minutes and then made the horse slow down. I stopped in front of Daniel, who now looked like a few friends.

What did I do?

Daniel approaches fiercely and pulls me off the horse without any delicacy. I hold his arms when he pulls me, it was so rough that I thought I was going to crash on the floor.

He puts me on my feet and looks at me in scary way.

“Did you eat anything sour?”

He gets even more serious when I say that.

“Are you crazy?” He speaks loudly.

“Why?’

“You could have hurt yourself badly! Cometa got agitated!”

“He was just enjoying his freedom with me! What's wrong with that?”

“Freedom?”

“When the horse runs, it feels free. He is happy. Me too, but at the moment you ruined all my happiness!” I say frowning.

“You must have a screw loose...”

“Better come home.”

“It's almost time, do you still want to go to the diner?”

I look thoughtful and look at his face. It made him look so... Shrek's kitten. What a sudden change of mood...

“Hmm...”

“Let's go?”

I take a deep breath. If it weren't for that look, I would say no.

“Fine.”

He smiled. Sometimes he looks like an eighteen-year-old boy. I frown.

“How old are you?”

“Why this question now?”

“Can´t I know?”

“I'm twenty-four.”

“Only?”

“Did you think I was older?”

“Actually yes.”

“And you are fifteen?”

“I don't look fifteen!” I make a grimace.

“Sometimes it seems.”

“And you look ninety!” I say irritated.

“Why?” He frowns.

“Because there are moments that look like an old grouch!” Daniel bursts out laughing and I mumble in disgust.

“Will you want to go with me or not?”

“Yes.”

“So let's go.”

We headed back to the mansion and each went to their room. And now here's the dilemma: With what clothes am I going?

He said it's a diner. Ah! It could be anything. I go to my suitcase and look for something. What is it? I won't unpack if we're leaving in a few days.

I find a simple dress and stare at it. What a doubt ... I stop thinking about clothes and head to the bathroom. I take a bath.

I love water!

So after the shower, I put on that dress.

It was blue and very simple. It had a thin strap and was above the knee. I have to remember not to sit like a kid...

I comb my now wet and unruly hair. I put on a simple cord I got as a gift from my mother and the earrings that are its set. It's great! I don't like makeup, so I'm ready.

Someone knocks on the door and I open it right away.

He's wonderful! He wears a white shirt with three open buttons and dark jeans. His hair is messed up as if he got out of the shower and forgot to fix it, but it looks beautiful, although anything in it looks good...

He looks me up and down and I feel strange for that.

“Ready?”

“Yes.”

“Let's go then. Marcos will leave us there.”

“Fine.”

He makes a movement with his hand, so I can go ahead. I walk past him and take a deep breath. He smells so good.

Enough! What the hell! What's happening to me? I was never interested in anyone. I find relationships a waste of time. So my father must have had this brilliant idea of getting married. I realized that nobody was good enough for me, but man ... I'm seventeen! I have a whole life ahead of me! For the love of God!

I get in the car and Daniel sits next to me in the back seat. I thought he would sit ahead ... I look away from him and I don't know why, but I'm feeling uncomfortable now. Maybe it's by his arm lightly brushing mine. I swallow. He can't see my state!

“So, is it too far?” I bring it up, so he doesn't notice my despair.

“Not much. In a few minutes we will be there.”

“And your father? I haven't seen him all day.”

“He should arrive later.”

“OK.”

The damn silence comes back with the tense atmosphere. Is it already close? I see Daniel put his hands between his legs and squeeze with some force. Is he feeling the same as me? Or is it just a nervous twitch?

I have no way of knowing and I won't even ask.
