It was Manuela's fifth birthday. Lara was back and forth tidying up for the party. The little girl kept watching and talking when she didn't like something they put on the table. Lara gave her that look that only the little girl understood. That "shut up now or I will shut you up" look. That was infallible. She always lost.

The girl left them alone in the living room finishing tidying up. Apparently her opinion didn't count there.

She pulled the stool out of the kitchen and tried to climb up. She almost fell, because it was high. Daniel always told her not to sit there, because she could fall and hurt herself.

“What are you doing?”

The girl looked to the side and Daniel was looking at her with his arms crossed.
