CHAPTER ELEVEN

The tone of my phone woke me up from sleep.

On checking the screen, there was no other person than Aaron. Thank Goodness Lawson left for work early.

“ Why are you calling me so early? You can't be calling a married woman that way. What if my husband is at home”. I blurted out.

“ I am sorry I bombarded you with calls, and I didn't think your husband might be home”.

“I know I fucked up Rachel, but can you find a place in your heart to forgive me, I should have listened you, I should have believed you, I messed up big time”. 

“Your mom and Grace manipulated me, who would have thought a mother could do such a thing to her own daughter”. He was sober.

“ I don't have any reason not to forgive you, you were there and saw how they manipulated you to have their way, I forgive you Aaron”. I told him.

“ Alright, thanks so much for that but can we still be friends?” He asked the question I have been waiting to hear from him. 

“ Of course yes”. I didn't think twice before answering him. He is that one person I really need in my life, a friend I can rely on, a shoulder I can rest on. Of course I would want his friendship. We ended the conversation.

I am in a good mood today so I want to surprise Lawson in his office. This is the first time I will be going to his office.

He never invited me over to his office or introduced me to any of his staff but I just want to be there today.

“ Caroline I will be going to Lawson's office later today, please prepare the food and fruits for me to take there”.

I informed her and headed upstairs to freshen up and choose the clothes I will wear.

I was ready some minutes later.

“Wow, you look amazing” I can't believe this is Mrs Lawson standing right before me, you are so beautiful, Mr Lawson is so Lucky to have you as his wife”. Caroline complimented me and I was flattered.

“ I just have to be sexy for my husband,since today will be the first day I will be in his office, I need to be noticed as Mrs Lawson.Tidy up the kitchen and make sure the whole house is clean, I will see you when I come back”.

I headed to Lawson's office without informing him, I wanted it to be a surprise and see how he reacts to surprises.

“Good afternoon miss, I want to see Mr Lawson" .I said to the lady at the reception.

“ Ma'am, do you have an appointment with him?” 

“No, I don't but I want to surprise him”.

“ You can't see him if you don't have an appointment”. She said and continued what she was doing.

Then I heard a lady from another corner gossiping about me to another person.

“ She is Mrs Lawson, they got married some months ago”.

“Really, I can't believe Mr Lawson is married without informing his employees. She is so beautiful.Then why didn't she allow her to see her husband”. The first lady asked.

“Probably she wasn't informed as most of the workers were not aware of the wedding, I got to know from a friend who works in a court where they got married”. They both went their separate ways.

“I am Mrs Lawson, I am here to surprise my husband,I don't want him to know I am here”. I informed the receptionist.

“ I am so sorry, I didn't know who you are, but Mr Lawson is in a meeting with some client, you can't go in now. You can have your seat until they are finished”.

“ That won't be necessary,I won't take his time, I just want to drop something for him and leave, just direct me to his office”. 

I noticed she was not ready to comply, so I proceeded to ask for directions from someone else. 

I didn't see anybody to ask but fortunately for me, names were written on the door of each office, then I spotted it, boldly written MR LAWSON on the door of one office,I opened the door and entered.

“I thought your secretary said you are in a meeting with some client, but I can't see anybody here. That makes her a liar”. I said immediately I was inside his office and discovered no one was there.

“Sorry about that, I was actually in a meeting with some client,it just ended some minutes ago” he said.

“ Aren't you happy seeing me here?” I asked noticing how uneasy he was

“ Of course I am but you didn't tell me you are coming, Rachel, this is a surprise”. His voice was shaking.

What could be the problem with him? He didn't seem surprised to see me but something was fishy. He wasn't himself. 

“ I brought you lunch because you couldn't eat your breakfast in the morning, but I can see you don't want to see me here so I better be on my way”. 

“Thank you so much, I really appreciate your visit, especially the lunch you brought as if you know I was too busy to eat since morning. I am just too busy to attend to you today. I would have planned for you if you had told me earlier you would be coming.Let me see you off now”. Got up from his seat and to the door

On my way out, I saw a lady's shoe beside his office table.

“ Why do you have a lady's shoe in your office Lawson? I asked and he was shocked with the question. He quickly took the shoe.

“I didn't notice the shoe, let me ask the receptionist if maybe someone misplaced it.”

Is there a lady in his office or is it just a c

oincidence? If there is a lady, who could be the lady and why is he hiding her.
