Chapter Thirty - Seven

She looked at me as if she should give me a slap, but I ignored her and led the way to the room we wanted to appoint for her.

“ This will be your room, stay where you are asked to stay, and don't trespass”. I said and was about to leave. Lawson was behind me looking like a lost sheep.

“How can this untidy room be my room? I need a room upstairs, don't forget I am carrying Lawson's child.” She stood outside the room, she didn't want to go inside.

The room is not untidy, it's beside Caroline’s room. It was the room Lawson locked me in when he brought those girls. It's not that bad. I cleaned it when I was staying there.

“ You can't get any room upstairs, so you should stay here. The room upstairs is not for an Intruder like you. You can't come here from nowhere and start ordering people around just because you are carrying a baby that hasn't been confirmed as mine”. He said and went upstairs.

“ I know it's this witch you call your wife that is controlling you, how can you put your baby in this dirty room and allow the one who is never pregnant to be in the master's bedroom with you?” She hissed and went into the room.

“ Tell someone to bring my bags for me, they are still at the entrance where I left them.” She spoke from inside.

“ No one is available to bring your bags, kindly go outside and bring them in yourself.” I smiled and went upstairs too.

I met Lawson sitting on the couch inside the room. I ignored him and went to take my bath. Then, I was on my way out of the room to the kitchen when he spoke.

“ Rachel, is this how you will treat me from now on? At least wait until the pregnancy is confirmed to be mine before treating me badly. I am sincerely sorry for this pregnancy thing, I am convinced the pregnancy is not mine. Although I was drunk that day, I remember I used a condom for her, so I don't understand how she may be pregnant.” He said with a serious face.

 “ What do you expect from me, Lawson? Some girl badge in and said she is pregnant for you just like that. Do you expect me to embrace her and compliment you? I am human Lawson. Coupled with the fact that I haven't gotten pregnant for you. I was hopeful you would change from your promiscuous act, but now it's a pregnancy. How do I deal with that?” I angrily said and left for the kitchen to make breakfast since Caroline won't be back until tomorrow.

He followed me to the kitchen and was up and helping me with everything I needed to do.

“ Why can't you trust me this time Rachel, I won't let you down, that Sussie girl is evil I repeat, I won't fall for her plan. I can't give her any chance in my life. I won't leave you for her.” He hurriedly helped me with a spoon I needed to turn the floor I was making.

“ Alright let's wait and see.” The food was ready, I dished out mine and Lawson's.

We were at the dining table eating, and Sussie came out of her room.

“ Why can't you call me when the food is ready? Do you want to starve my precious baby? Or you want to say you don't know that the baby is hungry?” She pointed at us.

“ If you are ready to eat, food is in the kitchen, dish some for yourself. No one is your slave in this house, you make your food yourself anytime you are hungry.”

Lawson bluntly said and continued eating.

“You mean I will be the one cooking for myself and my precious baby? Don't you have a maid in this whole house? That means you need to employ one to help my precious baby and me because I don't know how to cook.”

We both looked at ourselves and burst into laughter.

“ What is funny here? Haven't you heard what I just said before or what?”

“ Well, if you don't know how to cook for yourself, that means you should get ready to starve. There is a maid in this house but she wouldn't be of any help to you because she is strictly for my wife and me.

She didn't utter any more words, she entered the kitchen and dished food for herself. The food will be sufficient for two grown adults.

“ Why are you eating this much? You can't waste food here, take what you can finish at a time. Lawson was shocked to see the quantity of food she placed on the table.

“ This is the quantity the baby asked me to take and besides, have you forgotten I am eating for two? Don't worry it won't be wasted.” We watched her as she finished the food and still used half a bottle of wine to gulp it down.

I woke up early the next day, which was Monday morning, to get ready for my studio. I made sandwiches and bread for breakfast. Lawson was also ready and joined me for breakfast.

“ I called Caroline to come early, she needs to be here before we leave for work, she will be here anytime from now. We can't leave only Sussie in the house.” He called Caroline again to make sure she was close by.

“She will be here in less than five minutes. Let's wait for her to get here before leaving.” He finishes his tea and relaxes.

In less than five minutes as promised, Caroline was home.

“ Good morning Mr and Mrs Lawson”. She greeted us.

“ Good morning, thank goodness you are here. We are going to work now, there is someone in the visitor's room, she will be staggered for some time, she is not your responsibility, she can take care of herself. Don't let her bother you. If she wants anything, let her get it herself. On no account should you leave the house while we are away.” He carefully passed the instructions.

We entered the car and drove off,

dropping me first at my studio before heading to his office.
